"This dealership has recently moved into a new location, much
larger and nicer. What has bothered me is that on more than one occasion
my husband as well as myself have visited the dealership and have never
been approached by any of the staff asking if we needed help. My husband
was in there yesterday and was wanting to check into purchasing a new
model for himself, he stood there for approximately 15 minutes, never once
did any one ask if he needed assistance. He finally asked someone that
passed by him what the sticker price was on a bike he was looking at, they
told him the price and walked off. He walked out vowing to never walk back
through their doors. This has happened to several of my friends at this
dealership and it is sad to say that the local dealer will not get any
more business from these local citizens." - EN 8/01
"The most honest people I have ever dealt with! Purchased my bike
there in July 2001, I got a great deal. The parts department treats me
like royalty, they have even delivered parts to my place of work! The
same service person works on my bike every time, he is the best!!! The
dealership is large and has a bigger inventory of clothing, bikes and
accessories than you will find in the big cities! Yes, you may have to
wait a little bit....but once you are you can be assured of the best
service and availability anywhere!" - JP 03/02
"I walked into the Harley shop in Abilene with 18 grand in my pocket to
get me a scooter and no one in the whole store even spoke to me! Course I
don't wear a coat and tie. So to Stubbs Harley in Houston I went. Rode
out the next day on my Harley. Hope those folks at Abilene took a good
look at me cuz they aint never gonna see me again." - MM 02/03 "I have walked into the dealership many times looking for a bike. Their
sales people did not even once ask me if they could help me with a bike, I
had to go find someone myself. I do feel that the owner should hold a
seminar for their staff to learn good people skills and not to be so
judgmental before you speak to someone. I will not buy a bike from them
besides their poor sales staff their bikes are higher than other
dealerships in this area. I do have to say that Kent's service department
is very friendly and always their to help you out." - LK 05/04"I bought my 2005 H-D Electra Glide Standard, at Kent's H-D in Abilene. I
found them to be courteous, helpful, and friendly. I don't dress up. It
is jeans and T-shirt, or un-tucked sport shirt, 12 Mo. per year. They
didn't have exactly what I wanted, but they found it for me. Their service
department, and parts dept. are equally friendly and helpful. I have had
the suspension altered, and other accessories added. Two mechanics stayed
late, past closing time, to finish the job on the suspension, and the
sales manager, asked me if he could bring me back something to eat while I
was waiting. I offered to pay him, but he accepted the expense on his
own. I could not ask for better people to deal with." - BE 06/05
"Not knowing what bad noise we were hearing on our way to Red River NM\'s
rally on Memorial Day 2004 we limped about 50 miles into Abilene the
Thursday before that holiday weekend. Got in just in time to fond the
dealer, let them know we'd be waiting on them when they opened Friday
morning , and get a room right across the highway. Bright and early the
Kent's service mgr checked the bike in to find the primary shoe had split
in half (layin' in the bottom of the case). They didn't have another in
stock. What they DID have was another Roadking in 'new bike make ready'
mode with a faulty starter. They did not HESITATE to cannibalize the shoe
off of that bike. I told them to throw on a new primary chain since we had
60K plus on the clock and no telling what that 50 miles of flopping had
done to it. So all in all we only lost half a day and the total chg was
$50 deductible on extended warranty. I'd stop by and buy a shirt or
patronize these folks ANYTIME!" - DR 07/05 |

"For a new 2000 RK , they want $21,800 + $800
transport and assembly + $600 for two tone paint for a total of $23,200.
A pearl Classic would go for about $22,800. While I like the people
there, their almost $6,000 over list is too much." - AB 11/99
"In July of 2000 I took my 1999 HD Ultra Classic to HD of Dallas for
20K mile service, as well as to have a repeated 'Check Engine Light' notice
checked. They serviced the bike and told me that the engine light was
nothing to worry about. At that time they also wired a trailer and set up
the bike for trailer towing. After picking up the bike, I headed for South
Dakota. About half way there, the trailer wiring harness fell off leaving me
with no trailer lights. Then, in Nebraska, the rear cam bearing failed. I
stopped at a HD dealer in NE who informed me that the engine lights had
repeatedly indicated a cam positioning problem. These indicators had simply
been reset by HD of Dallas. I had the bike repaired using 'spare parts' the
dealer rounded up, not the recommended HD fix for the bearings, because no
kit was available. Upon my return to Dallas, I decided not to ride the bike
quite as much and use an alternate bike. Subsequently, I was not due for
service until June of 2001. At that time I took the bike to HD of Dallas to
be serviced. The engine computer showed one additional cam positioning
problem as well as a system charging problem. The mechanic said it was
probably nothing and to bring it back if the light kept coming on. The light
kept coming on, so on July 18th I dropped by the dealership 30 minutes
before they opened to have a mechanic spend 5 minutes checking the bikes
computer and determining if the bike needed service or not. Since this was a
3-5 minute job, I did not set an appointment. I asked the service manager if
they could check the computer on the bike and before I could complete my
request he informed me in a 'cute' tone of voice that ' they could
check it out if I wanted to leave it for 2 weeks.' I explained to him that I
had had the bike in for service and that the problem had persisted, and he
replied that it did not make sense to him to have a 30 dollar per hour
mechanic pulled off a job to check my bike. (His 30 dollar per hour mechanic
was watching the exchange and making coffee at the time) He basically told
me to take a hike. Over the past 4 years I have always made
appointments and planned on doing so this time, if repairs were needed.
After spending more than $10K over the last 2 years at this dealership, in
addition to paying $22K for a bike with an MSRP of less than $18K, I guess I
expected to
be treated like a loyal customer. I was treated like crap, the service they
performed last year left me stranded, and they have seen the last dollar
that I will ever spend in their store. I took the bike, rode 105 miles to a
dealership in Tyler Texas which took care of my problems and assured me that
they wanted my future business, which they will get. HD of Dallas is, in my
opinion one of the worst dealers that I have ever dealt with. Stealer
pricing and crappy customer service. Just what everyone wants in a dealer."

"The boys in Allen weren't interested in dealing until, while I was
in their showroom, I received a call from Big Spring and made a deal over
the phone to buy a 2002 Deuce at $1000 over MSRP. When I told the boys
in Allen that I had just purchased a bike from Big Spring, they decided they
wanted to sell me one at MSRP! No thanks! I would rather deal
with the good guys from Big Spring." - JM 8/01
"I have never had any thing but good experiences at this shop, in my
opinion
they have a top-notch service and parts department and I have never failed
to
be satisfied by any part or service that I have gotten here." - JD 01/02
"I stopped there interested in purchasing a '02 Dyna Low Rider. I was
met by a salesman who asked if I was "ready to buy". I explained that I was
ready and asked for the price of the bike. He looked it up on the computer
and told me that the base price would be $19,150 and they would go up from
there. When I explained that another salesman had told me a lower price
over the phone before I came up there, he sort of laughed and said, "Good
luck getting that bike any cheaper than that." He asked if I had priced the
bike anywhere else and when I said I had, he just started degrading those
dealerships. I continued talking to him thinking that he might realize that
I was seriously ready to deal, but he just became more abrasive and rude.
At one point he said, "You had better buy one while you can because we're
just going to jack the price up next year." All in all, I was very
disappointed and left only because I felt too irritated to talk to anyone
else. I do intend to contact the Sales Manager tomorrow, but I will
certainly be buying at another dealership and advising my friends to do the
same. I realize it's a dealer's market right now but I think it's more than
a little arrogant for a salesman to act that way." - MS 04/02
"I own a 2001 Sportster Hugger and I usually shop at Doerfler's H-D in
Hays, KS where I bought my bike but I was visiting in Dallas and decided to
check out other dealers to see how they compare. On this particular trip I
was just shopping for clothes and checking out the store. It was the middle
of the afternoon and I was one of the only person in the store. I was never
even acknowledged that I was even in the store by one single person. I found
a few shirts that I thought I had to have and meanwhile, two sales girls
were rearranging stuff in the women's section, looked right at me and
proceeded on doing what they were doing. I finished shopping and took my
items to the counter. The girls saw me standing there, waiting to be checked
out and the still proceeded to do what they were doing while talking about
boyfriends, going out, etc. I stood there for a good 5-10 minutes before
they even thought about checking me out. I could have walked out of the
store with everything and they wouldn't have even noticed. Great job, good
example of how women are treated at Harley stores. In Hays, Doerfler's H-D,
they know me by name and greet me when I walk in and I feel like I'm at
home. I'll never buy anything from H-D of Dallas ever again." - KP 04/02
"I normally don't take the time to comment on bad service (I simply do
business somewhere else) but after what has happened to me at the Allen
store, after taking 3 months to make a deal on a $20,000 motorcycle, waiting
up to 10 minutes at the parts counter to get acknowledged and trying to find
someone to wait on me at the motor clothes counter I simply must tell
everyone about the service I have received from the service department.
Unfortunately, I purchased the "Dealer Direct - Priority Service" plan where
I am to take the bike in for service at 1000, 2500, 5000 miles etc. The
first service at 1000 miles delivered a poor wash job and low fluid levels
in the primary and transmission cases. The 2500 mile service delivered a
sloppy wash job which included scratched clear coat on my gas tank and
virtually no oil in the primary and transmission cases! I was ashamed of
myself that I had paid for this! On top of that I couldn't find anyone to
wait on me to discuss this fiasco. After emailing everyone at both
dealerships, with no response for 3 days, I sent the letter to Harley
Corporate to be filed in the Allen store's folder. The Allen store finally
did a good job for me on the 5000 mile service but this was such a giant
hassle. No one should have to go through this to get what they have paid
for. I caution all of you who get service done at the Allen store to double
check everything, especially fluid levels. Everyone should take the time to
check prices before buying anything at the Allen store and should not have
to print out prices from other dealers on the internet for competitive
prices but that is the only way we were able to get the Allen store to come
down off of their "everything's $23,000" mentality. I'll let everyone know
how the next couple of services go." - KW 04/02
"Rolled in for a major service on the road. Had a (relatively minor)
problem, in that I had phoned ahead to let them know I was coming but even
after I got there, they lost track of my bike. But, they recovered
gracefully, did well getting the job back on track, and made the best of it.
Then, as I was leaving town, I realized that their bike-wash guy had
severely scratched my windshield. I sent them a letter after I got home and
the service manager got a new windshield on its way to me. They definitely
have a satisfied customer, given how they did right with a couple of
problems." - JH 07/02
"On 8/17/02, my wife and I had a flat in McKinney, Texas. With the aid
of a can of fix-a-flat, we made it to H-D of Dallas - Allen,
Texas. After a long wait - no complaint they can't control my timing on
having a flat - we left with the same tire and a new tube. We rode 50 miles
back home. Sunday morning I went to the garage and noticed the same tire was
again flat. I loaded the bike and trailered it back to Allen. Monday
morning I was contacted by their Service Department. I wanted to speak to
the Service Manager. Later in the day he contacted me and we discussed my
problem. It seems, in my opinion, the tube was installed improperly causing
the valve stem to be pinched against the wheel resulting in a flat. Bottom
line - this Harley Dealer provided me excellent service and made me feel
good about being their customer. I left that Monday with a new rear tire, a
full tank of gas, and an immaculate wash job. I bought a premium product
and received premium service when I had a problem. Good Job!" - OH 08/02
"I live 25 miles from the Allen Store and have been in there 4 times. I
have tried to get help when pricing a Bikes, Clothes, and Parts. I even
chased down a sales girl who said she would send someone to help with a
clothing sale. She went to the counter and looked at me, but never sent
anyone. I could not get sales help. I went to the parts counter and got
help from a parts guy on another occasion. I asked him my question about
the parts I needed (which he had to order). When I asked what I had to do to
get some sales help he said go home, put on some dress slacks, dress shirt
and a tie and the come back. I would rather drive 70 miles to go to
American Eagle H-D in Corinth then waste a minute in Allen." - JC 10/02
"I have a friend that I convinced to join the Harley Family. Because I
own one already, he asked me to help put together a deal to buy one. I
contacted a sales person. After several discussions over the telephone back
and forth between us and his sales manager, we finally agreed to a purchase
price. I asked that he fax me a purchase agreement detailing the
transaction, and indicated upon receipt that we would give him the credit
card number to charge the deposit which is what he asked for. The sales
person and his sales manager refused to fax a copy, and further suggested
that we give them the credit card number and authorization without seeing
any paperwork. At the 6:30 PM as a pressure tactic, they told me the
proposed price was valid only until 7: 00 PM and again suggested that we
give credit card information, but no fax would be forthcoming. In the end,
my friend has lost any interest in owning a Harley due to a lack of
integrity at this dealership, which actually hurts all Harley owners. I
intend to send a formal letter detailing this event to Harley, and hopefully
they will put an end to this type of arrogance." - TS 01/03
"I went to the HD of Dallas dealership in Allen, TX to trade in my 2000
Electra Glide Classic for a new 2002 Road king Classic and they wouldn’t
come down for nothing. The difference between my trade-in and the price of a
new 2002 Road king Classic was 7,400.00 Dollars. I got a better offer from
Lee Woods HD in Carrolton, TX the difference from them was 4,400.00 Dollars
plus they gave me ten percent off on Clothes, parts and service for a year
from the date of my purchase. HD of Dallas would only give me ten percent
off just for that day and only on parts and Clothing. At Lee Wood HD I met
all the service Guys (great bunch) they spent a lot of time showing me
around. I even live in Allen, TX about five miles from HD of Dallas shop and
I drive to Lee Wood HD which is about 25 miles from me for all my HD needs."

"I think a lot depends on when you walk into the dealer. I walked into
H-D of Dallas in Allen, TX on a cold day in February. I was the only
customer in the store. I already had a quote from another dealership that
was just a little over MSRP, but that dealer was about an hour's drive from
my house. I was looking to buy a 2003 Silver/Black FI Fatboy. After working
the numbers (and many trips to the sales mgr) the salesman finally came
within $50 of matching the original deal I had. I put a deposit down on the
spot. The salesman was great to work with, spent a lot of time with me to
explain everything I had questions on. I signed the papers and picked up the
bike a few days later and there were no surprises waiting (except the nice
jacket and other free stuff they gave me!). I've been in the shop a number
of times since then and always find the salespeople to be polite and
helpful. I would recommend this dealership due to my positive experiences.
But this is quite a change from when I last shopped for a Harley over a year
ago! Maybe the economy and competition among dealers has the potential to
change some dealership's policies towards the customer." - JF 03/03
"Nothing but good to say so far about the Allen dealership. I purchased
an 03 Ultra Classic from these guys in late January. Although not quite at
MSRP, this dealer was able to come very close to the best quote that I could
find anywhere in the North Texas area. The final selling point was the
lifetime maintenance plan (tires included) that is offered by H-D Dallas.
Although not cheap, I figured that for my riding habits it would pay for
itself within 2 years. A free maintenance ride from that point forward. I
took my bike in for the first 1,000 mile service and it was top notch, all
fluids changed, 40 point check, immaculate wash job and fully gassed. I had
a bulb that needed replacing a couple of weeks ago and they had me in and
out within 15 minutes at no charge. I often stop at the shop just to check
out the latest for my wish list and I am always greeted by first name by
almost everyone. Yep, I think that this dealership has really improved on
their focus on customer attention and satisfaction. I would highly
recommend. Hopefully I will be able to say the same a year from now." - JL
03/03
"Our salesman was very patient and helpful throughout the process, as was
the store general manager. The deal took about 1 month to consummate, but
they provided a good deal on our bikes. The customizations were exactly as
specified and the work was top notch. I was given several free items after
the purchase including a jacket, bag, tire pressure gauge,
leather/windshield cleaner, etc. All in all, the friendliest staff from
Accessories to Motorclothes to Service to Sales. I highly recommend this
dealership. My wife and I are now the proud owners of a 2003 big bore
Fatboy and a 2003 V-ROD. Without mentioning any names, I suggest working
with one particular salesman there that looks like our President. Can't
miss him, and he's really outstanding." - MC 05/03
"This morning I rode my '91 Ultra to the Allen dealership to look at the
new Ultras. I had been out of town for 3 weeks and had forgotten to put my
'91 on the trickle charger. When I went back out to my '91, to leave the
dealership, she wouldn't start. Low Battery. No problem, I thought, couldn't
have happened at a better place, I thought. I went into the "service"
department, explained my situation and was flatly refused any help
whatsoever! When I asked for a jump-start or help getting her started I was
told "No, we don't do that" and was left standing at the service counter.
Only after one of the salesmen up front saw me trying to get my motor
started did he come out and give me a jump-start, from his own vehicle. I
even had the jumper cables. I carry them in case a bro needs some help. If
you need a jump start at the H-D dealer in Allen, Texas, call me." - LP

"I purchased a V-Rod at the Garland store, but live much closer to the
Allen store, so that's where I get service. I worked out a deal on a used
V-Rod (the demo) in one day, at a fair price. Got great service there and at
the Allen store. Good people at both. Had a heat shield fall off, and the
Allen
store replaced it, no questions asked, even though I bought it at their
other store. When I dropped the bike on "the Dragon" in August,. I dropped
it off at the Allen store, but did the paperwork at the Garland store. They
were quite willing to negotiate all repairs fairly, and everyone was super."
- DI 12/03
"I was very disappointed in the customer service at this dealership. I
went there to buy an '04 FLHR Road King. They didn't have the color or style
I was looking for but did quote me a price and offered to locate one through
the dealer network. Unfortunately when I asked him how much he would come
off the $20,000 price he quoted and mentioned I had located one at a
dealership in east Texas I was told to come back in when I was serious and
we would talk. How much more serious could I be? I'm in your store ready to
do the paperwork. I also mentioned finding an FLHR in Illinois that was
cheaper than both dealers in TX but he said they couldn't compete with a
dealer in IL because they have winters. I really don't know what that
matters I'm looking for the best deal. Obviously buying closer to home
removes the hassle of getting there and back. I think the money they make in
service is probably more than the money they make on the sale. Unless of
course you are selling for $4000 over MSRP. I may someday have my Road King
serviced in Dallas because it is close to home but I am totally unimpressed
with the customer service at the Allen dealership. And it is also sad that 2
of the 3 dealers here in Dallas are owned by the same people. Maybe I'll try
the Garland store next and see how they fair in customer relations or the
dealer in Carrollton. I have been told that if you buy somewhere else they
will not treat you the same and may even delay getting your service
performed in an adequate time frame. I ended up buying from a dealer in west
Texas and received EXCELLENT customer service from them. And it was only
$1000 over MSRP." - MH 06/04
"Purchased three bikes from this dealer but after having problems with
one bike will never buy another. The service department doesn't have a clue
what service is. My 02 V-Rod had the rear valve cover leaking when almost
new, five times during the first year the dealer attempted to repair the
problem, they were so good that one time they were able to change the gasket
according to the repair order billed to HD without even removing the cover
bolts. As soon as the bike was in extended warranty the cover started to
leak again, read sixth time in just over one year. When I took the bike in
they informed me that this was now an extended warranty issue and would have
a $50 deductible. I have never been back since nor would I recommend them to
anyone, frankly they stole money from HD, cheated me and then tried to steal
more from me when they were unable to repair the item after 5 attempts." -
MM 09/04
"Bought '04 FLSTCI there. Bought a ton of accessories there. All in the
last 4 months. I bought FXRG jacket off the rack, next day felt it was too
large (did not wear it, tags still on it), called back, asked if they had a
medium, they did not have it in stock. I was then told if they ordered the
medium I would "have to *buy it even if it does not fit*", since it would be
classified as "special order" then was told "if neither the medium or large
fit, you will only get store credit back... you cannot return ANYTHING to
our store, it's our policy, and you will only get a store credit."
Finally after speaking to management, they made it sound like they were
doing me a favor by ordering a medium (to have it "in stock") and I can try
it "only if your jacket is left in the closet, no way should you wear it,
leave all the tags on it, do not take it even for one ride. The Service
dept. scratched the crap out of the rear heat-shield. They put me off
repeatedly about a replacement. The front brake banjo bolt was loosened and
DOT5 blew out making my front brakes non-existent. They fixed it but did not
fill the reservoir back up. I had a 35 MPH deceleration wobble, they said it
was a bad front wheel, then told the spokes may need tightening, then told
it was normal. I fixed this myself. The guys at the parts counter are great.
Very helpful and considerate. The sales people also are good. However, it's
the above issues above that unfortunately drove me away." - GD 09/04

"I stopped in not expecting much, but when I go back
to the service dept. at 2:30 in the afternoon and tell them I'm on the
road and can they do some warranty work, they say "sure, bring it
'round back". This is not a huge shop, but they drop
whatever they were doing and fix my rocker box on the spot. While
that is going on, the second-generation family owner shoots the shit with
me and buys me a Pepsi, lets me use his phone to make long distance calls,
and has one of his Sweet Young Thangs from up front drive me around town
to run errands. All this, without me spending a dime in the boutique and
having never darkened their door before." - LP 11/99
"Welcomed us with open arms on our cross country trip and made us
feel right at home. We would be happy to visit them again." -

"No new H-D's on the floor, a few used bikes and new Buells. The Buells
were priced at MSRP. The parts counter seemed helpful and courteous.
The girls at the counter seemed like they weren't too happy to be there
but it was early on Sat. morning." - TH 06/02

"The people at this Dealership are fair and great to work with .
They handled service work on my 93 FLHP so well that when I bought my
first new RK in 97 I purchased from them . Last year I purchased another
2000 RK from . I did several price comparisons with Houston and Dallas
area Dealerships , but they were not even close to the low price that Goe
gave me .Everyone from the Sales Dept . , the wrenches and the counter
help are very informed on what it takes to keep a customer happy .The
Owner himself gives a great deal back to the surrounding Communities by
always being involved in some type of Charitable Event . I cannot say
enough good things about this Dealership. - DF 04/01
"In the last 2 yrs. I have purchased a four wheeler, a kids motocross
bike, and now finally a 2002 HD XLC from Goe. The owner, salespeople,
parts, and service are the best. I like to do business locally when
possible, and it's an added bonus that we have such a dealership nearby.
They seem to always have anything I need in stock or get it immediately.
They even had rings and a top end kit for my son's Yamaha PW50 in
stock....and he's not even a Yamaha dealer!! (BTW, I searched every Yamaha
dealership in S.E. Texas one weekend and not one had rings in stock, so my
son did get to race it that weekend). Happened to mention it to Parts
guy, and low and behold he had 'em in stock! 10 yrs. ago I rode a Suzuki,
and he even kept parts in stock for that as well so I didn't have to drive
to Houston. The service guys will always come out and advise me on my HD
anytime I drive up! Even on my Rice Burnin 4 wheeler, so I know they care
about all customers. I did pay a little over MSRP for my HD but nothing
close to what I found at surrounding dealers. The owner and salesman
always acknowledge me, even if there busy, and when I see them around town
they know me and my family by name. I'm certainly no big shot, and don't
spend huge sums of money at their dealership, I just think they know how
to treat customers well. " - WE 08/02
"I had been searching high and low for an '02 FXDX in Texas and by
using the internet and email I got a quick response from the Sales Manager
at Goe's. After reconsidering trading in my 78 FX I started dealing for a
white one. These guys got me the price I wanted (MSRP) and after adding
some leather bags, got my bike ready for pickup quickly so I could come
down and get it ahead of Tropical Storm Fay. The storm wasn't so bad when
I went to pick the bike up as it turned out but I did get pretty damp on
the ride home. I highly recommend this dealership and the two salesmen I
dealt with for their honesty, and hard work to make a sale. Though I have
several dealers closer to my home in Houston, I will not hesitate riding
down to Angleton next bike purchase time." - HG 09/02
"I contacted Goe H-D on the behalf of my sister who lives nearby today
to inquire of the availability of a 03 FLSTCI and was elated to hear they
one on the floor, bone stock no add-ons. She was wanting to buy one for
her husband. When I asked what they were asking for it, the Salesman
responded $22,970. Easily $4500 above MSRP even after after adding EFI,
freight, etc. WOW! I got my 02 Heritage for MSRP, period. No markup.
After I picked myself up off of the floor I commented, a little above MSRP
huh. The Salesman said, it's on the floor ready to go. Was his only
comment. If this isn't a $tealer what is." - DB 11/02
"Went there to get an FXSTI Softail Standard. Initial asking price was
$1000
over MSRP, I offered MSRP and got it. This is a friendly, well equipped
dealership, that is prepared to make a deal. I live in Houston but the
drive out is well worth the trouble." - KS 06/03
"I thought this dealership was the greatest when I owned my Vulcan Classic
three years ago. Goe installed a V&H exhaust and did an excellent job.
Now I own an '03 Electra Glide Classic. I've ordered painted parts to
replace some damaged parts. Nine months later, I still don't have my
parts. I've been told parts were ordered only to later find out they had
not. I've been told my parts were in when they weren't. Don't know if
this happens often, but between the parts dept. and the service dept. or
the dealership and the manufacturing company The right hand obviously

CENTRAL TEXAS H-D
Austin, TX

"I priced a FLSTC at this dealership. They only
order from waiting list. $500 to get on list, but will refund the deposit
if the final price of the bike is more than their estimate. They priced
the Softail at $2000 over MSRP, then started adding their 'out-the-door'
costs. Said final price would be "about" $20k. Found the sales
staff only mildly friendly. They sell everything they get and don't have
to work too hard, evidently." - MT 2/00 "Got my Road King stolen a month after I moved to Texas.
Went to CenTex HD the next day and explained what happened. They had
a bunch of RK's on the floor and were looking to move them. Sold me
one for 500.00 over MSRP. Let me give them a 500.00 deposit and held
the bike for 2 1/2 months until my insurance check came. 1000 mile
service is free. Nothing but good things to say!" - BS 02/01
"Based on info I was given for 2002 FXSTS, prices are $2000.00
over MSRP. As an added insult, they add $400.00 for freight." -
EO 7/01
"In the middle of 12/01 my wife and I
were out Christmas shopping ,we happened by the store about an hour past
closing . As I stood "drooling " on the window, looking at a black Roadking
Classic, a salesman came out on his way home. He stopped and all our
questions without hesitation including prices without any pressure to buy.
The next day my wife (without any motorcycle experience) contacted him to
buy the bike for my Xmas present. He took care of every detail, set her mind
at ease (no small task), and made the whole thing happen. We got the bike at
a fair price and I would recommend them to anyone. Their service and parts
depts. have been "top notch" also. ps: two weeks later I priced the same RK
in Beaumont for $4,200 more." - MS 03/02 "Equipped with only the
knowledge of what my dream motorcycle was my girlfriend walked into Austin
Harley 2 days before Christmas with the intent of buying my dream for
Christmas. She met with salesman who was not only able to find my 2002 Dyna
Wide Glide, he was also able to find it in red and have it delivered between
Christmas and New Years Day. He treated her like royalty, she got a
good price on the bike ( I have heard of less, and a lot more being paid),
she was informed of all of the options yet never pressured to buy more. On
delivery we were introduced to the leaders of all departments. Since then I
have been in for service and "goodies" and the treatment has been second to
none, I recommend Austin Harley to anyone." - WB 03/02
"This dealership does not sell at MSRP and according to the owners, it
never will. Since a new dealership opened, their prices have dropped But
they are still high. Recently, they had a 2003 Low Rider on the floor with
a lot of extra chrome for $24,000. Their parts department is well stocked.
Their service department is terrible. They failed to put all the gaskets
when they removed my primary cover. The result was an oil leak. I took it
back several times, many of which I had to make an appointment and wait.
They tried to fix the leak by using silicon when they needed to remove the
primary cover and reinstall with all the gaskets. After months of this
type of service. I gave up and went to an independent shop who told me
about the silicon. When a new dealership opened for business, I went there
and had it done right." - RO 08/02
"They moved in
June 2002. Unfortunately, when they moved they failed to take their previous
commitment to good service and customer care with them. Having been a
customer of theirs from day one, I was saddened to find that after Austin
Harley's move to a newer, more Neiman-Marcus-type facility had brought an
unhappy end to our relationship. The parts personnel are strictly catalog
people, with little knowledge of what it takes to keep a scooter on the road
or get it out of their shop. It took two-and-a-half weeks to get an S&S carb
ordered properly (while my bike sat in a service bay). An order for handle
bars simply didn't happen. The shop is a vault, totally inaccessible to
customers. The techs work in a windowless cave, and it's almost impossible
to get any face-time with them. My last two (and I do mean last) experiences
resulted in huge delays, labor overcharges, and mediocre work. While I
seldom spend much time at all in the "boutique" area of any dealership, much
of the same thing has also happened in that area. I have had two close
friends go in with the intent of buying (not just looking) bikes. One was
ignored for 45 minutes, and the other was blown off because he apparently
didn't fit the profile of an Austin Harley customer. After meeting the
owner, I have begun to see why the yuppie-poser bug has bitten this
dealership so hard. All in all, another sad story of a small, friendly and
helpful dealership turned to large, dispassionate and uncaring Stealership."
- JD 02/03 "Just picked up my 98 Road King from Central Texas H-D after dropping it
off for a 20k service. These guys are finally getting it right in my
opinion. The services guys only did the parts of the 20k I asked them to
do since I had already had wheel bearings packed and fluids changed. They
replaced a part that needed replacing and still the price was less than
quoted. Wow! I had just come back from a long trip so the bike has a pound
of bugs and was filthy and I picked up a very well cleaned bike. They had
it ready when it was promised and everyone was friendly in the store and
in the service department. And best of all, the bike ran better than I
remember in a long time. Great job tuning and adjusting to make it a
tighter and better running bike. I have been riding for 30 years and have
rebuilt bikes before but I will be taking mine back to Central Texas on
the next service and give them first shot when I buy a Road Glide this
summer." - TP 03/04 "After working temporarily for this company. I
no longer trust anyone to work on my bike, you go in for one problem and
you come out with three. If you buy a used bike from them the
service manager says to bad should have spent the money on a new one!
During the bike rally people were left standing for hours waiting for
service and once again the service manager may or may not talk to you.
Been riding 25 years and have no desire to ride anymore after that
horrifying experience at this shop. Oh yea in 9 months the shop has been
thru 16 techs. Stay clear of this shop if you want to enjoy riding." - MH
01/05 "I bought a used 2003 Electra Glide Classic from these guys two
years ago. I thought they were great and was surprised by the previous
comments posted here. They gave me a tour of the dealership, gave me some
free stuff, and discussed their rider course with me. They are even open
every weekend for service and sale of parts and apparel (which probably
explains the tech turnover rate mentioned in the previous comment). I've
only been back once for service because I live about two hours away. But
I found the service to be very good. When it began to cloud up, I
explained I was waiting on the bike and lived a distance away, they moved
me up and got me serviced and on the road home quickly." - SD 12/05
"I've bought two bikes from these folks, but due to recent events, will
never spend another dollar in this place. I had an electrical problem
with my '05 FXD. Being covered by warranty, I had the bike towed to CTHD.
After a couple of days, I was told the bike was ready for pick-up. The
problem was described as a malfunction of the electric start switch (the
switch would stick while the bike was running...would even crank on it's
own if the key was turned on). A few days later, the problem
re-occurred. I again had the bike towed to CTHD and a few days later was
told that they could not duplicate the problem and therefore could not fix
it (I guess, when they finally got to the bike, the switch was working as
normal). With this in mind, it's obvious to me that the problem was never
fixed to begin with and the service department apparently lied to me. I
paid a lot of money for this bike and it obviously has a problem. How can
I take the bike on a long trip, knowing that! It could happen again at any
time. Sharing these thoughts with CTHD, they were shrugged off. To add
insult to injury...I had to pay for the tow (I am a member of national HOG
and the local chapter sponsored by CTHD...but not for long). I think my
next scoot will be a Victory! Since this ordeal and after talking to many
folks in the local biker community, I've been told several horror stories
about this place." - HS 12/05 |
AUSTIN HD

"Lets talk about honesty
and straight up. I called from Houston and closed a deal in six minutes on
2002 Road King. He quoted me a price of 4000.00-4300.00 less than the two
dealers I spoke to in Houston. I left on my Heritage Soft Tail the next day
for Austin thinking this can not be for real. They met me at the door and we
closed the deal. It was exactly what was quoted over the phone. Did not try
to sell me one extra piece of chrome, What a change from Houston. I brought
the extra's that I planed on. NO SALES PRESSURE. I am leaving tomorrow for
Austin for my 1000 mile service. I would not let any dealer in Houston touch
my machine, their service departments are worse than their sales
departments, but that's another story." - GK 9/01 "Used to have a
good service dept. Recently they wouldn't even talk to me over the phone
about an ignition problem I was having with my 1972 FLH. They only work on
1985 or newer bikes. Didn't matter that I was broke down on the road and my
71 shovel uses the same ignition system as every evo out there. Never going
back there again and that Screaming Eagle ignition is getting replaced by an
aftermarket unit since they won't support their own products anyway if its
not on a newer bike." - AR 9/01 "I took delivery on my new 2004 Ultra Classic. My first
Motorcycle. Took a H-D Rider Edge course and even though I have rode other
family members bikes over the years still got a lot of useful information
and training. The staff of Austin H-D treated me well and worked with me on
a fair deal, wish I could tell you how good. I have been to other dealers
but came back to Austin H-D due to the fact they don't add a lot of extras
on one to jack up the price. They informed me as to next bike available from
factory, and it came in 2 weeks early. The staff were professional and went
to the limit to see if I was satisfied with my purchases and service. I
took my 2004 Ultra Classic in for 1000 mile service. The Shop did a speedy
and quality job for me. Have been to Dealership numerous time for shopping
and they are still giving me the personal and friendly attention a customer
should receive." - RJ 03/04 "Several GREAT experiences with these folks. On a Houston
to Denver run, Austin HD got me a new stator & battery. I had replaced the
original in transit from Houston with an O'Reily's battery that wasn't even
the right size. Austin HD didn't hammer me for not having an HD 'core'
battery and got me back on the road by the next morning. $50 deductible on
extended warranty total. Another Denver / Houston ride the next season one
Saturday I had hit a vulture, a Roadrunner, and I snapped the clutch cable
80 miles out of Austin in Llano about 2 pm. Lucked into finding a tow truck
with a dolly. Called Austin HD en route to learn they had plans to close at
4:30 but would 'hold the gate' if we could get there by 5. We rolled in
about 4:45, they hooked me up with a FREE cable from some other new bike's
handlebars being modified, only charged me for oil, o-ring, & labor and by
6:45 pm I was in the motel room with beers n pizzas ready to finish my way
to Houston the next morning for a total of $100. Friendly folks in every
dept." - DR 07/05
"This is the best place to do business with. I was
looking for a specific HD color etc. Since I live in San Antonio I looked on
the internet. I called Central HD and the salesman took down the
information about the bike I wanted. He called me back in less than two
hours and said he could have it in his dealership the next day! I even
negotiated the price on the phone. They delivered the bike to my house in
two days. Absolutely no pressure sales at this dealership. I will
definitely do all my HD business here." - RB 09/05
"I was buying my first and well waited for Harley, Vivid Black 2005
FLSTCI. I called all the Harley dealers within 500 miles, all said no black
ones. What we have is on the floor "no black" except Austin H-D. My salesman
said "no black" but wait let me see what's being delivered in the next few
months. Why would the others not do the same? Austin H-D got my MSRP
business plus $4000.00 extra in Parts and accessories, The Parts Dept. with
many suggestions and recommendations helped me build a beautiful Vivid Black
and Chrome FLSTCI." - JH 10/05 "Several GREAT experiences with these folks. On a Houston

COWBOY H-D
Beaumont, TX

|
"The dealership in Beaumont Texas (golden triangle
hd ) was bought by Cowboy H-D. They are some new players backed by
millionaire Walter Humphery, As far as I know they are 5000 over list .
They won't take orders and sell everything first come first serve. They
are very friendly and I know some of them personally, It is too bad they
are playing the Stealer game." - BB 1/00 "I was in Cowboy HD in Beaumont this morning and
spoke to a salesman a friendly guy mane John. I wanted to talk pricing of
an Soon To Be available Heritage Softail Classic. He quoted me
about $5k over MSRP list but he had one coming from a dealer in Minn., If
I was interested. They had many used bikes, but I saw just 3 new
ones." - KM 6/01
"I have purchased several bikes from this dealer
and have had several friends purchase bikes. It is most disturbing when you
find out that there are dealers around that do sell these fine bikes at or
near MSRP. The normal price increase is 3k to 5k over MSRP with a few spiffs
to make you feel better. The dealership facilities are outstanding
and service department is very well equipped. Most of the staff does know
motorcycles and are helpful. From what I see when I do visit Cowboys are a
lot of bikes being sold. It is such a shame that most people do not check
any further than a 100 mile radius of there home. If they did in this area,
they would find many in Texas & out of state that would deal instead of
steal from them. I fell for the line, "we will give you top dollar on trade
in since you paid for the higher service area", from the manager. Well I can
tell all that those words are untrue. Maybe one day they will understand
what it is to be fair & not greedy. Then again, we have been paying their
prices, but not any longer!" - SS 03/02 "We have purchased two bikes
from this dealer in the last 12 months. One used and one 2002. We feel we
got a great deal on the used bike. Unfortunately, we purchased the second
bike on a "whim" and after checking prices with other dealers, we found
that we were totally taken advantage of. Many locals refuse to deal with
Cowboy Harley because they know that they "don't shoot straight". To me, a
"Cowboy" is someone who works hard, is honest, and never gives up on getting
the job done the right way. I do not feel this dealership deserves to have
the "honor" of using "Cowboy" in their name. I would like to state that the
service and parts dept is top notch and they do give a 10% discount to local
HOG members. My recommendation....if your going to buy a new bike...look
elsewhere." - SL 07/02 "Bike prices are high,
but people are friendly. Have had very good experience with parts
department. They ahve had everything I needed except for one small bracket.
I have a particular parts guy I deal with and he has been very helpful.
Haven't used service dept. They give discounts to various organizations
(like HOG) on parts." - JB 05/03 |

TEXAS H-D
Bedford, TX

"The shop in Waco, TX is owned by the same people as the Bedford,
Tx shop, same policies." - CH 8/99
"Sent an e-mail to all the dealers in the Dallas area with a price
of what I'd pay for a 2001 FXDWG. Salesman called me the next day
saying he had one coming in about a month for less than the amount I said I
was willing to pay in my e-mail. I rushed right over there and
put a deposit down. It came in on time and at the price quoted. 10%
off on accessories. Took it back for the 500 mile service and I didn't
recognize it when I picked it up it was so clean, looked like they waxed it
too. Very pleasant buying experience here, professional, courteous,
and very customer service oriented." - RC 5/01
"When I asked the
parts guy a question about re-jetting my carb. he was not sure so he led me
back to the shop and introduced me to a mechanic who then talked me through
the entire procedure and then told me to give him a call if I had any
problems! I wasn't even buying anything. This is the type of customer
service that will change peoples attitudes about HD dealers! Thanks Texas
HD!" - RH 03/02 "I just purchased my first HD, a 2003 two-tone,
fuel-injected Deuce, from Texas HD. I couldn't be happier. The entire
process was very easy and painless. The salesman did everything possible to
get the bike into my price range. Although I still paid way over MSRP (the
bike was 22K on the floor) it was the best price I found in the DFW area.
The strongest selling point was the salesman. He was very genuine, friendly,
matter-of-fact and not at all slimy like some of the other shops I visited.
He actually introduced himself to my wife, asked her name, talked to her,
and referred to her as often as he did to me - even though he knew I was
buying the bike and my wife was only slightly interested. Big points for
that. After we had agreed on a price he continued to work for me. He
discounted the price another 5% and then he offered to either throw in two
helmets we wanted ($400 worth) - or discount the bike another 1.5%. This was
AFTER we agreed on a price. I had a few items added to the bike (gold-key
package) so I needed to pick it up, and finalize the paperwork the next day.
Unfortunately I was unable to get there until right at closing. The finance
person, the salesman and the manager stayed past closing until everything
was set. The salesman and the manager then walked me to the bike and gave me
a full run-through of all the features. There are several dealerships closer
to me, but I was not at all pleased with their offerings. I'd rather drive
the 40+ extra minutes to Bedford than regret my purchase. I was very
pleased with all aspects of the purchase. I would buy from them again
without hesitation. Can't wait to go back to the shop and go on the chapter
rides!" - BT 01/03 |

THE H-D SHOP
Big Spring, TX
|
"The folks there have run it since 1929 and it is
the oldest shop in Texas. I ran across them by accident, while shopping
for a good price on a new Fatboy. I was forced to look elsewhere because
the shops in Houston are asking $23-25K for a 2000 model with about $1000
worth of chrome on it! Robert, Vicki and his Mom and Dad run the
shop and you couldn't meet any nicer people. No bull, just straight scoop
and hard work to get you on two wheels. He gave me a fair price and
delivered my scoot on time. I just want you to know that I drove 550 miles
to get it from them and it was well worth the trip. I'm tempted to take it
back to him for the 1K mile maintenance! All of my future bikes will come
from Big Spring." - SJ 5/00
"I checked AZ, NM, & TX, my best bet for a 2000 Road King was
Big Springs, TX. 350 miles away but to me it was totally worth it. Good
price (saved over $3,500.00) than from buying locally. But most of all a
great honest family run business (71 years) that treat you as one of the
family. I enjoyed the time I spent their and there is no doubt that I will
be going back. I definitely recommend This DEALER, believe me I seen
some of the STEALERS." - BB 5/00
"Don't know what their new bike prices are like as I've never
bought a new bike from them. I bought a second-hand bike from them
years ago and got what I considered to be a good deal at the time.
They are one of the last of the small, completely family-operated shops
and don't get a ton of new bikes every year because they are so small. But
they do know the meaning of customer service - I have never been treated
so well anywhere else in 30 years on the road. They still remember
me 13 years after buying a used iron sporty, and a few parts and a little
warranty work over the years, and treat me like gold every time I stop in.
They're the only dealer in creation that I will go out of my way just to
stop and say "hello" if I'm anywhere near their county.
And the only one I would take my bike to for warranty, insurance, or any
work I didn't want to do myself (and they are 250 miles from my
house). If you live in or are passing through west Texas, you should
stop by for a taste of "the way it ought to be" at any retail
business but so rarely is these days." - LP
"After months of searching all over the USA for a dealership that
had down to earth prices I finally lucked out and found probably the best
HD dealership in existence. Not only down to earth prices but down to
earth people too. Robert did a great job tricking out my new 2000 Road
King Classic. I got around $4,000 in chrome and leather basically free,
because that's how much I saved by not buying it in Houston. It gives me
great pleasure in thinking that when the economy slows down I know that
some of those rude and crude HD sales people will be some of the first out
of work. Maybe the HD executives should think about this too. I do regret
that I did not know about hawgeye when I started shopping. It could have
saved me a lot of time and trouble." - RO 5/00
"I was traveling (from Alaska) and needed a 10,000 mile type
service also had a broken trunk rack on my dresser. Called a couple days
ahead to see about getting the work done. They air freighted in the rack
and took me right in for the service when I got there. (Their work was top
notch) Thanks for the help guy's!" - RB 6/01
"Wonderful people, pleasant experience! Quoted $1000 over by
phone, made the deal by phone, picked up the bike 5 days later, on
7-26-01. I bought a 2002 Deuce before the Dallas guys even had one
in. I enjoyed dealing with the owner's son and his wife. Good
people!" - JM 8/01
"Thumbs up again to the great people at this dealership. This was the
second time this year I made the 500 mile journey to buy a new bike. Again
I arrived after hours and not only did they wait but had the bike already
loaded and ready to go when I arrived. Got the exact bike I wanted for the
price I was quoted. Again way under the stealers in Houston. It's great to
meet such an honest and down to earth bunch of people who go out of their
way to please the customer." - JF 11/01
"After checking with the big city "Stealers" (Houston & Beaumont) , I
decided to search the internet for a deal. After reading the positive
reviews of the Big Spring dealer on this website , I called them and
the owner quoted me a price of 1000 over. I had to ask him twice to repeat
the price because it was so much lower than the big city prices I had been
getting. We made the deal over the phone , and with all the money I saved
I sent him a list of accessories and chrome that I could buy with all the
money I saved. A few weeks later I drove 10 hours from Baytown (just east
of Houston) and arrived to meet the nicest people anyone could ever do
business with. This is a family owned shop being the 3rd generation to
operate the dealership. This is the oldest H-D dealership in Texas (since
1929) and it's easy to see why they have managed to stay in business all
those years. I promised them I would never buy a Harley anywhere else.
This was my first Harley, and the great people of the H-D Shop of Big
Spring made it a great experience I will always remember. And when is the
last time anyone heard of a H-D dealership "Owner" loading your bike on
the trailer for you, and tying it down , and personally telling you before
you drove off that "He" appreciated you and your business." - JK 12/01
"Good deal, excellent service, very nice folks! This family-owned
dealership has their act together. They offer a good selection of shiny
options, clothing, and doo-dads for the new owner and they have an
excellent shop to make-ready or add options to your bike. Would recommend
the dealership to anyone shopping right now." - JA 12/01
"I bought my first FXDWG about three weeks ago and I can't say enough
good things about these people! They are the oldest dealer in Texas and I
now know why. When I arrived to pickup my bike, the owners son went over
everything with me. As he was telling me about all the things I should
know he stopped and put out his hand and said "Welcome to the Harley
family" I could tell that was not just a sales line with him, he meant it!
His wife is great too, helped me pick out some of the other fun stuff you
just gotta have when you get a Harley! They all went out of their way to
make this a great experience! So much so, that I drove the 1000 mile round
trip last weekend just so they could do the first 1000 mile service on my
bike. The guys in service went over everything on my bike, I knew when I
left there my bike was ready to ride!" - KK 04/02
"I will be picking up my new 2003 Roadking in a few days. The owner and
his staff have been great to deal with. I looked around 4 other HD shops
in West Texas and the Big Spring shop is the only one that seemed to
really want to have my business. The owner and his mechanic actually
talked me out of a few things that I wanted to do to the bike, this saved
me lots of $$$. If you are looking for a bike, do yourself a favor and
call The Harley Shop in Big Spring." - MN 07/02
"I had a co-worker recommend the dealer in Big Spring. He kept telling
me you won't be sorry. I called The H-D Shop on 8/22, and spoke to the
sales manager about any used Softails. He told me he had two, took time me
the details on both bikes. I called him back the next day on an Fat Boy
that had been traded in on a 03 Road King. Had him send some pictures and
as usual made the deal over the phone. Arrived in Big Spring on 8/24 to
pickup the bike and the wife and I had couldn't have been treated any
nicer by these folks. Met the owner, the owners wife, the owners dad
(previous manager, now retired), met the Service manager / Head Mechanic.
As luck would have it, I got to meet the original owner of my new Fat Boy.
They took me in the back, showed me the service records, went over
everything on the bike. Helped the wife pick out a helmet and clothes.
Could not believe the friendly, personal approach these folks took with
us. They even took us out to a rally that was going on that weekend at a
local club. I don't mean to sound like the other postings, but if you want
to find a dealer that will work with you ad take care of you and your new
bike, go to The H-D Shop in Big Spring. There's a reason they are the
oldest Harley dealership in the state!" - JR 08/02
"I ran over a nail, rear tire of course, as I was pulling into a gas
station in Big Spring, half-way through a 650 mile trip. I managed to cut
the nail off so that it wouldn't rub the fender or bags and then drove to
The HD Shop to have the tire looked at. One of the mechanics pushed me to
the front of the line, threw it up on the lift, removed the tire and then
pulled the nail out. No leak. It seemed that the gods were smiling and
the nail passed through the thicker rubber on the tread and sidewall,
narrowly missing the tube. The mechanic put everything back together,
charged me $10.00 (cash), and sent me on my way. Needless to say, I stop
here each time I pass through Big Spring." - JH 09/02
"I just purchased a 2003 FXSTDSE at the H-D Shop and everything went
great. The sales manager, his wife, the service manager, and other
employees were very friendly, and I knew this when I bought T-shirts there
3 years ago. I have communicated with the sales manager for over a year,
and I changed my mind about what motorcycle to purchase many times. The
sales manager always was helpful, and answered every question about every
motorcycle. My price was quoted at $1000 over MSRP, even though the
FXSTDSE is a limited production CVO motorcycle. Other H-D shops in Texas
that I checked were much higher. When the free T-shirt, the free H-D
tie-downs, free labor on accessory installation, and free labor on the
1000 mile check are taken into consideration my walk-out price is much
lower than $1000 over. I know that these folks are going to take care of
me, and I highly recommend them to anyone wanting to buy a Harley,
clothes, or accessories. The H-D Shop is 285 miles from my front door, and
I will be eagerly making that trip for the 1000 mile service and looking
forward to seeing my friends there. Every DFW, Waco, Austin, Houston, and
San Antonio H-D dealership is much closer to my home than 285 miles. I
hope this shows how strongly I believe that the people at The H-D Shop are
the best!" - HJ 10/02
"I can not say enough about the wonderful, family
run dealership. I just purchased my second bike from them. Couldn't be
happier. The owner has always gone out of his way to help, and this time
was no different. The service department is excellent, as is the parts
department. They have a nice selection of accessories and motor clothes.
I will continue to support and promote this excellent dealership." - CB

"We are pastors and biker ministers. We travel close to 30,000 miles a
year – literally from coast to coast. On June 5, 2003 we left Amarillo, TX
for the Austin, TX area to do a wedding. Our Speedo-cable broke short of
Big Springs. On prior trips I had found helpful people. We rode a 1982 FXR
until last year we purchased a salvage 1997 FLHTC. Proving we have visited
many Harley shops. We got less than 25 miles until we broke down. We found
several problems. Being a family owned shop since 1929 – they treated us
as family. Owners took us to their home – gave us a room – fixed a
wonderful dinner. When we could not locate the main problem – he rolled
out his personal Harley – a Shrine Harley – and told us to go do our
wedding. I would walk a country mile to help these fine people. I would
highly recommend anyone close to Big Springs to stop in and visit the
“Oldest Dealership In Texas”. - GB 06/03
"I recently bought a 2003 Dyna Low Rider from The H-D Shop. I started
shopping for a new Harley about 4 years ago. After talking to every dealer
in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, I realized they were all crooks. The going
rate in DFW is $2000 to $3000 over MSRP and the sales people are rude.
Then, if you want any extras (laced wheels, security system, etc.), they
also mark them up. So, after reading the Stealers and Dealers page, I
called the folks at The H-D Shop and they were friendly and seemed to be
honest. Unfortunately, I had a run of financial bad luck and a divorce,
so I bought a used Kawasaki Vulcan and the Harley went on hold for 4
years. When I got financially back on my feet, I called The H-D Shop
again. I wanted to order a 2004 Dyna Low Rider but they had a 2003, with
laced wheels and a security system, on the floor that they sold me at
MSRP. The H-D Shop usually sells Sportsters at MSRP and big twins for
$1000 over, which is still a bargain compared to Dallas/Fort Worth. The
shop is 5 hours from the DFW area, but they will deliver for a reasonable
fee. I was treated great, never talked down to and saved over $2000
compared to buying the bike in the DFW area, even with the delivery fee
included. I recommend The H-D Shop, highly. Everyone needs to patronize
dealers like them to fight the price gouging that is rampant among Harley
dealers. This business has been family owned since 1929. It is the
oldest Harley dealership in Texas. They are great people who are also
riders." - RS 10/03
"I looked for an FXD at MSRP in Austin, San Antonio, Waco, Temple, and
Houston for about three months. Did not have a good experience with any of
these dealers, some wouldn't even quote you a price on the phone, others
said "sure we'll sell at MSRP but when you looked at the out the door
price they had tagged on numerous "extra" fees. After looking at this site
I called The Harley Shop in Big Spring, the owner quoted me MSRP on a new
FXD, faxed me the quote and I sent him a deposit. He didn't have the color
I wanted in stock but got it from another dealer within a week. I borrowed
a trailer and drove from Austin up to Big Spring, they were waiting for me
with my bike prepped and ready to go, no surprises, no "extra charges" and
good service. I was back on the road in an hour. Good people to deal with,
helpful, friendly and honest, which is the way it ought to be." - LH 03/04
"The H-D shop is a great dealership. All of their staff are always
very customer friendly. They always speak to everyone that enters the
shop and is willing to help you with any questions you may have. They
have a lot of merchandise other than bikes if that is what you a looking
for. I have purchased two bikes from them in the past and have had great
service and left there feeling very comfortable with the decisions I made.
I recommend that if you are looking for a bike, give them a call and
chance to win your business. A great bunch of people their at H-D shop."
- LK 05/04
"I can't say enough about the customer service I received from this
dealer. They went out of the way to get the bike I wanted and even met me
half way to deliver it. I did everything via e-mail and phone until I got
the bike at which time I signed my life away. If you want a new ride
consider giving the folks at The H-D Shop a chance. I'm sure you will
receive the same level of great customer service that I did and you will
be very happy with the results. I am on a new ride and saved a butt load
of money from what the dealers in the Dallas area are asking for the same
scooter." - MH 06/04
"Working with the staff at The H-D Shop was the most enjoyable
experience I have ever had with purchasing a bike. The prices are not only
fair but below anyone else that I had checked. I ordered a 2005 Police
Special Edition and it was delivered flawlessly and at a cost that nobody
else could even come close too. I can't say enough about the staff and
just the family atmosphere that this dealership provides. The prices on
everything, and I mean everything is way below even what you can buy on
the internet. I highly recommend this dealership to anyone wanting to buy
a bike, parts or have service done. I drove 5 hours from El Paso to deal
with The H-D Shop and would do it again." - RS 10/04
"It was a pleasure dealing with this shop. I was looking for a Dyna
Wide Glide at MSRP and needless to say I heard many promises but none
could deliver. I contacted them via Email and asked if they sold at
MSRP. They quoted a price out the door, which was less than many other
dealers offered as the base price. I told them I would be there on
Saturday and the bike and paperwork was ready. Even though I had to drive
3 1/2 hours from Fort Worth it was worth the effort. When are other
dealers going to realize they would sell a lot more bikes if offered at
MSRP, and still make a profit." - SA 11/04
"I called them for a price on a new FXST, was quoted LIST PRICE,
salesman e-mailed a price conformation, they got the exact one I wanted in
a short time, the only surprise was that the owner would be traveling near
me, he brought it in an enclosed trailer - I have not even been to the
dealership! They went WAY beyond customer service: price, delivery, and I
just received a a beautiful custom plaque of my motorcycle. Honest,
friendly, and seem to care more about putting you on a Harley than the
money. Give them a call - you will not be disappointed!" - JS 12/04
"I originally bought my new '03 Road King from this dealership and they
even delivered it to me 300 miles away. My wife and I were on a road trip
to California and stopped in on the way back through to get a new rear
tire. They dropped everything they were doing and put on a new tire and
checked over the bike. They even remembered us from 2 years before.
Can't say enough about these people. Call them or go by if you are
looking for something. They will deal." - DS 11/05

JAVELINA H-D
Boerne, TX

"I purchased a new 1999 FXD from Alamo City
Harley-Davidson in San Antonio in May 1999 for $13,200 plus TT&L.
Almost two grand over list. The price was high but the calling was
stronger, so I played the game. I purchased a 2001 Road King Classic from
the same owner, Alamo City in Boerne, Texas this month for $2,200 over
list. Does this sound like a stealer? Here's the kicker. My 99 FXD was
used as trade and I received $13,200 for the trade and saved $800 in
taxes. Same price two years later for the FXD. I'm completely satisfied
with my dealings with Alamo City H-D" - RE 6/01
"My bike wouldn’t
start. I called the HOG tow program and had flat bed truck at the house in
about 45 minutes and then had them tow me to Javelina Harley-Davidson in
Boerne, TX. What a pleasure dealing with them. They had the bike out in a
couple of hours. The service manager explained what was wrong and what they
would have to do to fix it (didn’t have part, but had it picked up at
another dealership). They have a little place to sit with free coffee where
the GM and Parts Manager were taking a break…they were very pleasant,
answered all my questions and generally made me feel good about being
there. No new bikes on the floor so I can’t comment on price. Two thumbs
up for customer service!" - LN 08/02 "I took the Rider's Edge class at Javelina H-D about 6
months ago in preparation for my first Harley. I liked the staff there and
enjoyed the class a lot but I still wasn't sure if I wanted to buy my scooter
from them. They are a relatively new dealership so they don't have a large
allotment of bikes and at the time didn't have the bike I wanted (FXST) I'd
kicked tires all over south Texas and even went by the crooks in Houston,
what a sobering experience that was. Maybe the salesman at Mancuso wouldn't
talk to me because of the shocked look on my face when I looked at the
sticker, I guess Mr. Mancuso's new building and race team cost a pretty
penny. When I went back by Javelina 2 weeks ago they had a black FXST on
the floor at $2000 over MSRP. The salesman was a gentleman and when I
offered $1000 less he started the paperwork. He set me up with the parts
manager and I ended up spending that $1000 on a stage 1 kit, drag bars, and
chrome goodies. He gave me 10% off parts with the bike deal and introduced
me to all of his staff. I have my 1000 mile service scheduled next week and
that too was free with my bike deal. They just finished expanding their
building and it looks great plus its the closest dealership to great Texas
hill country riding. Check these guys out, they're really on the up and
up." - AF 12/03 "For the past twelve months I have been shopping
around for a new Super Glide. I had been to Javelina Harley-Davidson in
Boerne, Texas, a couple of times before, but for me half the fun was
researching and shopping for my new bike. In previous visits I had talked
to the sales manager, sales staff, and parts staff. Since I travel for
business, I have had the opportunity to visit many Harley dealers around the
country. During my last visit to Javelina I discussed the pros and cons of
various bikes with the general manager and the sales manager, as well as
riding, service, resale, parts, and even helmets. While I don’t think I had
a bad experience at any of the dealers, these guys were straight shooters,
as was the whole staff at Javelina. I was looking for three things and they
had all three: a good deal at a reasonable price, a place with a very
friendly atmosphere and people I can trust to give me straight advice. As a
result I have purchased two bikes from them this year: a Super Glide for me
and an XL883C for the wife. If you are looking for a square deal, straight
talk, and a family atmosphere, then go see the guys at Javelina." - JL 02/04
"Excellent place. Walked in owning a Sporty, rode out on a FLHT. Salesman
was no-BS, no push, and tossed in a helmet and goggles since I came in via
cage (wife surprised me with the bike). FYI, this dealer used to be part of
Alamo City H-D, but split away (at least partially) so they wouldn't have to
split bike allotments. First maintenance was also thrown in. Good people,
good shop." - RL 05/04
"After deciding that this year would be the time to finally get that brand
new FLSTCI, I spent a few weeks touching base with the dealers in the south
central TX area. I decided to go with Javelina based on their straight up
dealings with me and the fact that they were selling very close to MSRP
($775 freight/setup charge). I put a deposit down in September for December
delivery and the bike was ready to go as promised. The Salesperson was top
notch and helped make the purchase a very pleasant experience. He also
threw in a free 1,000 mile service visit to make the deal that much better.
I highly recommend Javelina HD to anyone looking for a bike." - BB 12/04
"In July 2005 I was shopping for a black 1200R. The salesman said that they
did not have one in stock. He said that if I gave him $500 he would find me
one. He said that after the bike came in that I would not be held to
purchasing it and they would return my money if I did not want it. Well time
went by and in and no bike. I found the bike at Central Harley in Austin TX.
Fantastic service! They delivered the bike the next day! I talked in person
to the sales-prep at Javelina and he assured me that they would return my
money. Well after 3 weeks and several calls, guess what? No check in the
mail! I am glad that I put the $500 down on my credit card. My credit card
company is doing an investigation to see if they can get my money back. Well
Javelina Harley lost my future business. I will not have my bike service
there or purchase any accessories, they lost out on over $1,000 in future
accessory purchase. Buyer beware with these people. Get everything in
writing if you do business with them." - RB 09/05
"In 2000 I had a Dyna Wide Glide that I had broke the drive belt on. I
called Javelina Saturday morning and ask them if they could have it out by
noon and they said no but it should be ready by 2:00 and it was. In February
I started looking at new bike with the intention of buying a Road King.
After talking to the salesman and telling him that I wanted to add a tour
pack, He suggested that I look at the FLHTCI due to it has everything I
wanted in in a bike. The folks at Javelina are very helpful and tell it like
it is (very honest). I bought the bike for MSRP plus $750.00 for setup and
frt. The then tossed in a free 1000 mile service, 2 t-shirts and a free
riding class for my wife. They give me 15% off all of my parts and acc's and
are now good friends of mine. I will deal with them from now on and
encourage everyone else to do so." - CS 10/05 |

"Was just quoted 25K for a Softail Duce, it has a list of 15,500, by
Lee Woods HD. They wanted 5k over list for a standard Softail. Go Figure who's getting screwed !!!!" - B 9/99
"Stopped by to do a little research on a New 01 Fatboy.
They had one in stock priced at $2k over MSRP. I asked if they could
get one for me closer to MSRP if I was willing to order it and wait?
Salesman said "No, it'd cost the same by the time it gets here."
Don't get me wrong...he was very helpful and nice as can be...but not 2K
nice! They don't seem very interested in dealing...business looked too
good. I might go there to visit...but not to purchase..." - CK
6/01 "Took my new '02 Deuce there for it's 1000 mile service, even
though I didn't buy it there. Big mistake! Would not make an
appointment for me. I had to leave it. They said they would call
when it was ready. They didn't call. They left oily finger prints all
over it. They didn't bother to adjust the shift linkage or primary
chain, and they charged me $261.00! For what? An oil change?
They were friendly when I tried to buy a bike there, but they didn't have
one and didn't know when they would get one. But when I took it in for
service, they wrote "Purchased in Big Spring" across the ticket.
I should have known better!" - JM 8/01 "I bought a 2002 Heritage Classic from this Dealer on 5/14/03. I paid
cash. The problems began after the sale. When I took the bike home, I
noted that the nut holding the console was damaged by using a pliers. With
the 1000 mile service, I requested that they install Harley's Premium Oil
cooler kit during that service. I had received this brand new oil cooler as
a gift. The dealer said that they would install the cooler for $65, which
represented about one hour of labor and that was the labor dictated by
Harley. When I picked up the bike and brought it home, it leaked oil
profusely. That same day I drove back to the dealer, returned it and asked
them to eliminate the leak. I was very unhappy with them. They were
however courteous and promised to fix the problem. I picked the bike up for
the second time and it still leaked. They fixed it the third time. Or, I
thought they did. Approximately 300 miles later There was a puddle oil in
my garage and the bike was again leaking profusely. Again I took it back to
the dealer for repair. The dealer stated that the Harley designed oil
cooler was a poor design, but he would fix it. I called Harley and
complained that the dealer was unable to install a simple oil cooler on my
bike. They stated that the problems with the oil cooler were typically
dealer related and the dealer did not follow the installation procedure
properly. There were thousands in the field. They explained that there was
a torque sequence with the 5 mounting screws to seat the gasket. If the
dealer did not follow the procedure, they would damage they gasket. The
dealer, rather than ordering a new kit, only ordered a new gasket to
replace the gasket that they damaged. Two or three days later when they
received and reinstalled the new gasket, they were still unable to stop the
leakage. The owner told me at that time that they would order a complete
new oil cooler for me and they would stand behind their work. They removed
the cooler so I could use the bike over Labor Day weekend. They told me
that they would install the cooler the next week. Lo and behold, the next
morning, I looked in my garage and found drops of oil on the floor. And,
this was without the cooler. I rushed over to the dealer and asked them to
look at the bike. They worked on it for 2 hours and determined it was not a
leak, but residual oil from not properly cleaning the bike. At that time,
the owner approached me and told me that he decided that he would not
reinstall a new Harley oil cooler. He show me the old one that they removed
and told me that the design was no good. I examined the parts myself and it
was my conclusion that they did not install and torque the unit as specified
by Harley and they damaged the unit. The gasket was deformed on one side as
if the gasket procedure was not followed. (What do I know... I only have a
mechanical engineering degree and have worked for one of the nations premier
gasket manufacturers for the past 8 years.) I basically agreed with Harley.
Now the true character of the dealer was revealed. He offered me a $65 gift
certificate in lue of the labor expense that I previously paid for. He told
me that he would not install the new cooler that he had previously promised
to order the day before and install. I saw this as a cheap way of not
returning my $65. It doesn't take a brain to see that he was trying to
retain the $65 and offer me a certificate that would only cost him about
$45. I demanded cash and he finally credited my credit card. He then
stated that he would contact Harley and attempt to get my money returned for
the cooler if they would accept the part for a warranty return. He said it
would take about 30 days. He had damaged the part and made it impossible to
return it to the place that supplied the gift. I am now out about $279. A
dealer holding $279 from a cash paying customer that gave him well over
$20,000 stinks. Is this the kind of dealer that you would want to do
business with? " - MG 09/02 "North Texas H-D no longer belongs to the Woods family. It was purchased
during the last of May 2004 by an investment group which owns the shop in
Corinth TX, just up the road. ALL bikes now proudly display a sign with the
MSRP price and $250 for setup and $295 for delivery. Any dealer extras are
listed and the price displayed as well. Gone are the days of $2000 - $4000
over MSRP and take it or leave it attitude. Sales people greet every
customer who walks in and seem more motivated to make the customer happy. I
have dealt with the sales staff and they seem to take the new ownership as a
serious partner in the Harley business. Doesn't seem like their out to get
every dollar, but they are there to turn over the inventory. Prices are just
as posted on the Harley Web site. Guess it will be a wait and see game to
find out if the new prices will stick. BUT it looks good for now in the Big
D area of Texas." - NL 06/04 "I contacted this store about buying a
Dyna Wide Glide and was assured they sold at MSRP. I made an appointment to
visit and when I called back to confirm the date/time and verity that they
sold at MSRP I was told I had misunderstood what I was told and that they do
not sell at MSRP. I absolutely did not misunderstand what I was told and
resent the salesmen saying I did. I hope they do not treat all customers
like they are idiots and incapable of communicating with them. I eventually
bought from the HD store in Big Springs, TX who promised MSRP and delivered
at that price." - SA 11/04 |

"This is a outstanding dealer, the Road King was ready as
scheduled . When I was picking up my bike people where having their
motorcycles worked on outside of area. Other dealers could not solve the
problem. The service manager takes appointments, and you don't have
to wait . The sales manager and I did most of the paper work via
e-mail. The price was what we agreed to. I do most of the service work
myself, so I did not want a service policy. This dealer does not force you
to buy extra $ if you don't want it. They wash your motorcycle after
service/ I mean they detail it like new. Can't say enough great
things about this dealer except they are building a new location before
you get into College Station . This will help due to the cramp space now.
I drive 82 miles to do business with these people, I refuse to do business
with the "STEALERS" in Houston. If more people would
follow my lead the market would that care of those dealer. H-D opening a
new dealer in this trade area .Maybe they do listen. You are seeing more
inventory or the floor ,maybe the tables are turning." - LH 4/01
"I've used Russ Welch for my service for about 2 1/2 years and
have had nothing but great service. I live in Houston and travel 91 miles
(one way) they always seem to take this into consideration (be here at
0900 and we'll get you in this day). I have one Buddy that just recently
bought a new Road King and he seemed very pleased with the price. Russ and
the service manager always shake my hand and treat you like they do
appreciate your business. When I get ready to buy a new sled, Russ will be
the first place I go." - MT 6/01
"Every thing I heard about this dealership is true, and all good. Even
though I have a HD dealer within 10 miles of my home, I recently made the
80 mile drive from Houston for the 5k service on my RK. They let me set up
an appointment, did the service while I waited, and delivered the bike
after a through cleaning. They were friendly, courteous and appreciated my
business, and I saved $50 from what the stealers in Houston charge for the
same service. Highly recommend." - DM 9/01
"This is one good, honest shop with a great group of employees. I
bought a new Duce from them and since then have bought many parts and
add-ons. I have had the bike in for service; always with an appointment
and ready on time. It is washed and waxed every time I pick it up. They
have done good work on the accessories and the Screaming Eagle Engine.
They always great you, say your name and ask about rides and events. The
dealer sponsors the local HOG and loves to ride as much as he loves his
customers. I have dealt with many different deals of every brand
motorcycle and many expensive European cars and I rate this shop, the
employees and the service as good as any of the best I have seen. They
ask 9% over retail for the bikes but are very consistent on that without
doing anything else to overcharge you. They give HOG members a discount
on all parts and accessories as well. It's worth the drive from anywhere
in Texas to do your business at this shop. In a month or so they are
moving into a new shop on Highway 6 just south of College Station." - JL
10/02
"I bought a new 2003 Sportster 1200 XLH in mid May 2003 from this
dealer. I had been away from riding for 25 years and had never owned a HD.
I was very impressed with the dealership. From the sales manager to the
counter folks, these people were just plain nice folks. They treated me
very well. The bike was sold to me at exactly MSRP with no funny business
at all. The sales manager gave me tee shirts free and two helmets at
dealer cost. I get 10% off of anything else I buy. I stopped by yesterday
and bought some cleaning stuff. Again, a different counter person was
friendly, made sure I got 10% off, etc. When I picked up my new bike, the
dealer loaded into my trailer and gave me free HD straps to tie it down.
As I left the store, I picked up a Christian MC mag published in Houston.
I was very happy to see that this dealer had purchased advertising in this
mag. I expect to be a long term customer and see no reason to go anywhere
else." - SS 05/03
"I recently bought 2003 Fatboy from Russ Welch. Out of all the looking
and talking I have done, these people are FIRST CLASS. We were there on a
busy day, 100th anniversary party of all days, dealt with Russ Welch him
self, the price was better than any other price or deal I had worked on in
the Houston Area. Everything was on the up and up, No Surprises. I met a
first class mechanic who gave me the straight up story on how to make
power when I was ready. The whole deal was a first class experience. Since
then the parts department has been more than helpful. I was dealing with
the Woodlands HD and they were very reluctant to put anything in writing,
very unclear on pricing, etc. I offered a deposit to see the deal in
writing to no avail. After this I began shopping around and after filling
out a credit application, I received a call from the salesman complaining
about how much time he had spent with me, and how much time the parts guys
spend pricing out the list I gave them with part no's & prices already on
them. TOO BAD. I work in a service intensive business 24 hrs/day/365 day
per year and they can't even spell the first 3 letters of Service. After
the phone call, I flanged up the deal. Since my purchase, I have
not, and will not spend a penny in the Woodlands Store. Russ Welch
is a First Class Dealership. More people should run their business this
way." - RB 09/03
"Contacted the sales manager of Russ Welch about purchasing a 2004
Ultra. Here is how it shakes out. MSRP on a 2004 two tone Ultra is
$20,405.00 he quoted $25,403.00 drive out on a factory stock bike. I
countered with $23,400.00 and he did not accept. Even at that I was
offering 7% over MSRP. They also quoted a black 2004 factory stock Ultra
at $24,350.00 drive out (MSRP is $19,595.00). Deal or Steal, you be the
judge. This wasn't a deal in my book. Guess they need the money to pay for
their new building." - GH 11/03
"I went to Russ Welch to buy a bike with cash in hand, I didn't tell
them I had the money, I tried to talk to the sales people they didn't want
to have any thing to do with me, I guess I wasn't dressed rich enough for
them, All I got was snide comments and smart attitudes. I've hade my
shovel worked on there before with no problems and always good results. I
was having a problem and went to the service dept. to ask question. Half
the mechanics that worked there are gone and the ones that are left don't
know much. I then went to the parts dept. to get a part I had ordered not
only did they not have it, this was two weeks later they it was on back
order. I checked with a friend that works at another dealer in the state
and it was never out of stock from H-D. Ended all I got was attitude from
the parts people. I can see why there are so many new bikes on the floor
and around the building and no one in the parking lot. They used to be a
good dealer but as of late they have gone to the dogs." - JR 02/04

"I bought a Softail Standard in Biloxi, MS because Texan HD of Conroe,
would not come down $1800 to match a price...I was told, by the manager "
Go buy it, if you can, for that price"...so I did. This price was $1000
over MSRP so bottom line...Texan HD in Conroe, has to many RICH customers
from the Woodlands shopping there. I wouldn't recommend this dealership
to anyone!!! The Dealership in Biloxi, MS is one of the best
dealerships I have had the experience in dealing with...to bad they all
couldn't be like them.." - CG 05/02
"I had an accident and had Texan do the work (last time I make that
mistake). First they told me I couldn't have the parts that were taken off
(Tank, Exhaust, Highway bars etc...) without a letter from my insurance
agency (they said they had to smash all old parts discard them). My
insurance agent said that was BS unless it was something with a core
charge and sent them a letter stating so. I had the motorcycle painted a
different color and the dealer had a contractor that they used and told me
how great they were. Well the tank they shot looked like crap, the primer
was sanded too rough and showed lines in the paint. They gave me the run
around about getting it repainted and it still looks sub par, overspray on
the decals. They seem upset if you ask how much something cost, I don't
really think the manager has a clue how much business they lose because of
these practices but with the size of the chapter (Cut N Shoot) he may not
care." - GC 05/02
"Went by this dealership two weeks ago to check out stock & how much
this dealer was asking over MSRP. Found out that they will sell at MSRP if
you purchase the extended warranty & accessories from them. This seemed
very good since Houston & Beaumont charge 3 to 5k over MSRP no matter what
you purchase. The salesman all appeared very knowledgeable & did show that
they wished to sell a bike. There were not very many bikes on the floor,
but if they do sell as it was stated to me, I can see why there are so
few. I believe doing business within my state & I'm glad to see someone in
this industry care about the people they are servicing. I also was
very impressed that the Parts Manager was so very knowledgeable & the
selection of accessories was outstanding. It was worth the 142 mile ride
one way. Overall I will do business with this dealer, if they can
the sale as proclaimed." - CS 06/02
"I guess I am a bit frustrated. I got knocked down by a cage 5/4/02. My
bike went in to the dealer 05/07/02. It is still there waiting on Harley
to provide a left front fork for a Y2KFLHRCI. I understood the possible
lead time on the painted fender, but a front left fork on a current
production bike? There is no insurance dispute and better than $4,000 in
damage agreed to pay. Time is up if "Welcome To The Family" has any truth
to it." - JK 08/02
"This week I decided to purchase my first H-D I went to
Mancuso H-D in Houston and was so disappointed in their sales tactics. I
was disgusted HD would let them use their name or sell their products. I
was about to give up when I called HD in the Woodlands. The change was
unbelievable. They took my info on the phone. Gave me the price of the
bike and called me back within an hour with everything I needed to
decide. When I arrived to do the paperwork, it was waiting and ready and
EXACTLY what I was told on the phone. My salesperson was knowledgeable
and friendly. I got a great deal and the whole experience was a blast.
The entire staff from manager to parts were great. I will never return to
Mancuso but cannot say enough about HD Woodlands, TX. I will never shop
anywhere except HD Woodlands TX for H-D products. Their no
BS attitude has made me a fan for life." - CE 02/03
"It started out as the usual Saturday morning ride, and ended up with
my wife and I driving home a new Utlra Glide Classic. Thanks to this web
site for informing me about a great H-D dealership in the Houston Texas
area. I'd been so turned off by the sales attitude of the salesmen at
Mancuso's, I had pretty much put aside the idea of purchasing a Harley.
The sales staff at Mancuso's were proud of the mark up they added to their
bikes, and proud of how they totally undercut trade-in bikes of any other
persuasion than H-D. Quite a contrast to the staff at the Woodlands H-D
dealership. I'd recommend them to all interested in joining the H-D
family." - RE 09/03
"Absolutely the best buying experience I have had. Shot me a fair
(MSRP) price and gave me everything (and a little bit more) as promised.
Sales department rating: 10. Helped me select which mods and accessories
fit the bike and the intended usage of the bike. Service department
rating: 10+. Would not hesitate to recommend them and will use them again.
My "Home" dealership from here on out." - FL 03/04

AMERICAN EAGLE H-D

"In shopping for my new 1200 Sportster custom, I had priced several
dealers for one of 2 colors, one being the vivid black, or the 2 tone, all
dealers were $3000 or more over MSRP, I Called American Eagle and got the
Sales Manager (Junior) and asked for pricing, we discussed several used
bikes and I thought they would be the highest yet however when I asked
about the 2 tone I was told $1200 over MSRP, I told them I be there in 30
minutes. I was treated like there best customer, and was introduced to all
department heads, and also my Service Advisor, The MotorClothes Manager
helped me with the accessories I was looking for and all went well, I can
Highly recommend American Eagle Harley Davidson, In North Texas They are
the premier Dealership" - JR 12/02 "I live in the Amarillo Texas
area, and had been shopping for an 03 Heritage. My local Dealer (Tripp's
HD of Amarillo) is a bunch of nice guys, but they use the waiting list
method for the popular bikes. I knew that when I had the money available,
I didn't want to wait 4-5 months for my bike, so I decided to look
around. When the day came, there were only a handful of dealers in Texas
who had Heritages on the floor, that were not spoken for. One of them was
American Eagle HD. They had the best price. It was almost 2K over MSRP,
but when you want it now.... you want it now. The sales guy I talked to
was very polite and professional. We made the deal over the phone, and my
new Harley was ready for me to pick up the next day, with new pipes and a
Stage I kit installed. This is a new dealership, very large building,
with lots of stuff. The day I picked up my bike, they were celebrating
their one year anniversary, so it was a madhouse. But even in the
confusion, they made a point to introduce me to the manager, and the
service manager, and everyone treated me very nice. A great experience.
I was amazed at how many Road Kings, Fat Boys, and Ultras they had on the
floor, when all the other dealers I spoke to were short on inventory." -
RS 05/03 "I was searching for a used Road King for about 5 months
and one day walked into American Eagle and noticed a 97 Road King. They
were asking 12,995 which was 2 grand off of the original asking price.
They told me that they could not go any lower but I called back and asked
them to keep me in mind if they still had the bike in a week and if they
could take 12.5. They went down to $12,700 and I picked up the bike that
day. It had some funky decals on it and the windshield and seat were worn,
but with a little cleaning and replacing the two old parts, this bike is
awesome for the money. My salesperson was honest and knowledgeable and
even though it was only a used bike, I was introduced to the whole
dealership, was given a one year membership to HOG and a free membership
to the American Eagle chapter. They also replaced the shock on my 2000
Buell Cyclone (recall) with no questions or issues. Their new bikes are a
little more expensive so expect to pay 2k plus over MSRP but the facility
is brand new with an awesome service area that you can view from windows
on the second floor of the building. It was a very good experience and I
would do it again." - BG 01/04 "I bought FXRG jacket off the rack
at H-D of Dallas, next day felt it was too large they gave me a run-around
about exchanging it but American Eagle said they would take back the large
and exchange for a medium. No questions asked and I could even return it
within 30 days for full refund. By the way, I never spent a dime there
before. Now that is customer service." - GD 09/04 "I recently
bought a used(99) Electra glide standard from these guys and it was
nothing short of great. The sales mgr helped me for the few minutes until
my salesman returned from lunch, and then he was the biggest help I have
had so far in looking at these bikes. While we were waiting on some of the
paperwork to be done, one of the cloying girls took me around and
introduced me to the parts guys, shop guys, etc. This is a top notch
place. I will be back for sure." - MB 11/05 |

"I went to the local stealership to buy a bike but
what I had to put down and what Harley Davidson was willing to finance was
a difference of $54.33. The owner didn't even want to talk about it. So I
grabbed the cycle trader and got a better bike with a better price. Unless
the owner knows you for a long time he won't even take the time to talk to
you about anything. The service department couldn't answer any question I
had about performance. Thank god Ron Browne is retiring. He just sold his
dealership, to 2 of the nicest people I have ever met.-SM 3/00
"Went in and tried to buy a 2002 FXDX Dyna Glide Sport and was quoted a
price of $15,844.00 +TTL for a quoted OTD total of $16,934.14. I mentioned
to the salesman that MSRP was only $13,895.00 + $210.00 freight + $240.00
for pearl paint for a total of $14,345.00 + TTL. They wanted $1,499.00
over Retail, and they said it would be at least a five month wait. Maybe
this is the norm around Texas for H-D's right now, but I think $1,500.00
over retail is a bit much. I told him I was ready to buy; no financing,
all cash, no hassles. His comment to that was "If we sold Harley's for
MSRP we wouldn't have a bike on the floor." Strange comment since there
were new 2000's and new 2001's on the floor, all with tags over MSRP. His
suggestion for me to save money was to recommend I finance it for 84
months! I'm going to look around before I drop any coin there." - MM 03/02
"Thanks to Corpus Christi HD for opening up a shop in
Laredo, saves us time and money. Great mechanic came over from Corpus to
run the repairs here. A couple of problems with the locals they hired in
the parts dept., and motorcycle sales. These two guys in parts need the
HD logo on their shirts to remind them of where they are working. I pray
that when I walk in there with a parts question, the mechanic is around to
field it. I waited two weeks for the wrong set of bags to come in, even
though I gave them (parts guys) a stock # and pointed to the picture in
the book as well as pointed to the bags on a similar model in the shop. I
sent a friend in there looking to buy a new Buell. He had some standard
questions for the salesman but got three IDUNNOS as a response. Needless
to say, he bought elsewhere! I've also heard complaints about the dealer
mark up, but I'm not looking for another...yet, so I haven't compared." -

"Called them from California about a "Fly and Ride"
deal. They wanted $18,999 for an FLHT. The bikes' MSRP is
$13,130. The salesman did not think this was as funny as I thought
it was." - C 10/99
"called them from Calif. on the "fly and ride" program.
Quoted me $21,000 on a FLSTC. While I believe they are crooks...they come
up short when compared to others" - RC 10/99
"We sell 1700 used and 300 new Harleys a year. All of the
used bikes are purchased on the open market at market prices minus what we
can bargain the owner down from his asking price. We then add a
margin that is about 70% of the percentage margin a dealer makes on a
new-from-the factory Harley selling at MSRP (the smaller margin is why we
don't budge much from our asking prices). Our market niche is having
all models in stock and offering better deals than customers can get
buying out of the classifieds on their own. Our website shows how
customers can save money with us compared to shopping on the open market.
I calculated average prices on 368 models of Harleys over 30 years
in my publication Barnett's Market Price Guide and am very clear what the
averages are in the newspapers. This leaves my 300 factory
bikes. I face the same choice as all dealers, MSRP or market. If
I sell my new bikes at MSRP, people would buy my bikes and turn around and
sell them in my own parking lot for thousands in profit. I choose to
sell all the bikes in the store at the same market prices. I guess
this makes me 3/20ths of a crook. But let he who is without sin,
cast the first stone. Of the thousands of people who buy bikes at
MSRP and then have to sell them for some reason, I haven't seen one person
in five years put their bike in the classifieds and price it at about 80%
of MSRP like you would have to do with a car. And I read thousands
of ads per week. We also offer people thousands over MSRP on
the Harley trade-ins. The market right now is a musical chairs game
where some people get the bikes cheap and others instead of having to sit
out of the game, must merely pay extra to play." - Barnett H-D 11/99
"Sent Barnett H-D 2 e-mails looking for info on their inventory
and pricing. January 22 and February 2, no reply to either mail. They are
boasting about their ability to use the internet. I finally got an e-mail
back on 2/7. Was looking for a price on a Deuce, he quoted me 25,000!!!!!
Plus 375-525 to ship. I was on a list up here in Mass for a Deuce,
supposed to be in, waiting for paperwork, for 20,000. I'll believe it when
I see it. Anyway, at least Barnett got back to me." - PH 2/00
"My husband and I stopped in to have a tire changed in the middle
of a long trip. We were at Barnett's for around 2 hours.
During that time (on a Tuesday morning), not one employee took the time to
say anything despite all the time we were browsing through their bike
inventory. They sure were good at drinking coffee and talking with
themselves. If we were actually shopping for a bike that day, they
would have lost a sale. World's Largest HD Dealer... What a
disappointment!" - CF 8/01
"I first tried Barnett HD by e-mail. Their prices are about 6 -
7,000.00 over MSRP. Since I live in Las Cruces I tried going in to the
Las Cruces dealership to see if I could negotiate the price down. Both
times I went there I was ignored. Nobody bothered to ask me if I needed
help. After browsing for 20 minutes with no help I left. Most likely
they wouldn't negotiate anyway. I am going elsewhere for a new FXDWG." -
SZ 10/01
"I purchased an '01 Softail Standard, was willing to pay the exorbitant
amount over MSRP. This was the worst HD shop I have ever been in. I made
the deal over the phone and once the papers were signed they would not do
any thing they had promised to do. This dealer is so bad if it was the
only place left in the world to sell Harley's then I would walk. Do
yourself a favor and go some where else." - DB 10/01
"When I first started looking around for a bike I gave Barnett a call.
I live in WI & they said that would be no problem. Told them I was
interested in a Fat Boy at the time, they said sure we have those, any
color you want too. I asked how much...$23,000 for a stock bike. I just
about had a heart attack when they told me the price. Nice bike, but for
almost $8000 over MSRP No way Jose.. Do yourselves a favor & don't even
waste your time calling these stealers up, most likely the worst of the
worst." - GP 03/02
"I recently called Barnett HD for a quote on a FXDWG, and was given a
price of 5k over MSRP. Stunned, I decided to drive the 400 miles to El
Paso just to see what I could see. They had the bike I was looking for and
I offered them a fair price based on what other Texas dealers quoted me.
Barnett accepted my offer, drew up the paperwork in about an hour, gave me
10% off any motorclothes and accessories I needed, a couple of free
T-Shirts, did a checkout of the bike and helped me load it on my trailer.
I was given 1st class service when picking out the motorclothes and the
salespeople were very helpful and not in a rush. My buying experience and
after purchase questions were handled in a professional and timely manner.
I suggest an on-site visit to get the best deals rather than
e-mail/telephone." - RM 04/02
"I just bought a 2002 Road King Classic from them and traded my
Sportster. It was the easiest and most pleasant trade I have ever made.
They charged above MSRP for the bike, but the price was in line with other
dealers. They also gave me a good deal on my Sportster and shipped the
bike to me. I got it three day | |
