THUNDER CREEK H-D

"Steel
H-D soaked me on a broken light on my flstc. Broken light bolt cost 28.75
to fix light on the road. I am from Bristol, VA." - WA 02/01 "Steel H-D in Chattanooga was sold in August '01 to the owners of
Killer Creek H-D in Roswell, GA. The new dealership in Chattanooga is named
Thunder Creek H-D." - PD 12/01 "Thunder Creek has a huge
selection of motorcycles. There seems to be every model on the sales floor
and several colors of each. They even have European models that a salesman
told me they buy from England. But the prices are way over MSRP, an 2002
FXD with no options is 15,995 Softail standard are just over 17,000 (I own a
FXD so....) But if you want that dream bike, and want it now, they have it
there and in this economy 20,000 isn't a lot of money anymore. The only
problem I see is Harley's motorclothes being made in China, I will pay for
the name but not from there if I can help it. And when I first started
buying chrome it was made in the USA now Taiwan." - JS 03/02
"On vacation. Stopped in to buy engine oil and filters for my Harley and
wife's. I had my own tools along, asked the service dept. if I changed the
oil and filters myself would they take the used oil. No problem. This is
the BIGGEST Harley store/shop I've seen. They sell Harleys only. I
didn't look at any of the Harleys on the floor, since new and newer used
Harleys then mine are out of my price range." - NB 07/02
"I have been dealing with the Chattanooga based HD dealers for 17 years now.
First Pates, then Steels and now Thunder Creek. I just bought a new 2002
Fatboy from them. To be honest, I was skeptical when a conglomerate bought
them, as I was afraid they would lose there friendly, homey atmosphere.
Steels was a fun place to ride because the staff all knew your name and they
always had free hotdogs or food. They seemed interested in you as a person
not just your money. Harley promotes its "Genuine" theme and sincerity is
not something that can be faked. I believe the Steel holdovers have taught
the transferred and new associates the kind of service the customers have
come to expect. I got a fair deal on my new Fatboy. I did have to negotiate
it. With the 2003 coming in they were willing to listen and I had price
quotes from out of state dealers on the same bike, so I had done my
homework. They are not going to give them away and getting a good price is
more the buyers responsibility than the dealers. Anyway, the treated me
fair. Their entire staff from sales to service to parts has some outstanding
people. I will remain a loyal customer." - JH 09/02 |

"Went looking for a new FLHT. They had a '99 FLHT on the
floor with 10K miles and some useless (to me) chrome gee-gaws for $3000 over
the MSRP of an '02. Didn't bother about asking the price of a new one... not
like anyone was acting like they were interested in coming over and talking
to me anyway." - RE 01/02 "I have been to this dealership several
times and the finance specialist and salesman are all very impersonal and
just interested in their bonuses for selling a bike. They (the salesman) do
not take a personal interest in their customers and act as though their crap
doesn't stink. If I were to buy another bike...it would be from a dealer
who sells just above MSRP not one who jacks the price up $4000...I guess if
I was selling this way I could drive a BMW too....buyer beware, check around
and definitely check MSRP." - LL 02/02 "I moved to this area about 2
years ago with the US Army. I own a 97 HD. I have always taken it to
authorized HD dealers for maintenance, parts and what ever. In the past few
years have had a couple services done at Appleton's, and purchased many in
store items, approximately $2000 worth of business. Their prices are always
12 - 15% over other HD shops around the country. Have had to tolerate the
unprofessional attitude of Appleton's employees, have heard bad rumors about
their service department (not having a certified HD mechanic). This is what
happened to cause me to never return, and to deter everyone I can to stay
clear of Appleton's. Ordered a Derby cover and inspection cover on Tuesday
20 Aug, clerk told me it would be in Friday but for sure Monday. Called
Friday, not here, wife took the 30 minute drive to Appleton's on Monday, (I
had an appointment on Tuesday with a new motorcycle shop to install the
covers) by the way the owner and partner use to be Appleton's mechanic (HD
certified) but did not like the way management treated their employees and
customer so opened their own shop. The parts were not in, I called Tuesday
morning "no parts", called again Tuesday afternoon when UPS arrived "no
parts", called again Wednesday morning "no parts", called Wednesday
afternoon the Derby cover arrived, no inspection cover it was back ordered.
Wife picked up the derby cover and cancelled the other, called HD shop in
Illinois, he overnight FedEx, it arrived today (23 hours after I called).
At no time during the 3 different clerks did one say sorry, give me a
status, they just gave the impression that if I was not going to spend
hundreds they were not interested. Where is the Harley quality control, I
have experienced such a wide range of variations from shop to shop, (with
the state tax not your control). Why can I go in 1 shop and find a HD coat,
and continue on my trip and 3 hours later find the same HD coat $80 less
before tax and not on sale. I have discussed everything above with
Appleton's, he just looked at me, with the look can this guy hurry up so I
can sell something else." - RF 08/02 "In multiple trips to this dealer, had the same
experience each time: ignored by the apathetic salespeople even while
standing at the cash register waiting with hundreds of $$ in merchandise to
check out. I was just giving the local dealer a chance after moving into the
area. No longer. I'm voting with my money: it's back to buying online
through H-D of Chicago or from independent parts suppliers." - KB 11/03
"I was ignored to point of feeling self-conscious. Maybe I was dressed wrong
for the shop? Have to admit I was in uniform. Had problems with a set of
V&H pipes from another HD shop 8 months ago. Had me leave the pipes with
them, would not return phone calls, never seemed to get anyone that
remembered the issue. Finally after 2 weeks, went back after the mufflers,
the parts manager (AFTER he had to look around for the pipe) said good luck
but he has been pretty busy, lately. Asked about a 30k service on my 2001
Ultra, shop guy said that it shouldn't be too much cuz the 25k was the big
expensive one. Most newbies know that a 5k is a 5k - no matter what number
comes before it. Tried to get more info (packed bearings therefore the
20/40k are the big ones for my bike) and he said I was mistaken but should
always be less than $3-400. Sheesh, I should hope so! Down hill from
there. I'm a local soldier (LTC) and I always try to support the local
businesses. I can tell that a soldier is only a passing dollar - I'll be
looking elsewhere - for service and competence." - JE 09/04
"Great experience with these folks on all aspects (sales, four bikes so
far/merchandise and service). Although prices listed on bikes are way out
there, they will make a deal, got my last two (05 Low Rider and 05
Superglide) at under MSRP. Service there was at 55 an hour and now that I am
in MD I am looking at 80 an hour." - MH 12/04 |

"Cool Springs Harley in Franklin, TN sells for
$4000.00 and up over MSRP. Used bikes similarly overpriced. Stealership
will not give a decent value for a trade-in." - GG 10/99
""Tons of used bikes. As high as they mark them up, they'll
probably accumulate tons more." - PM 1/00
"Checked all of the dealers in Nashville area. Cool Springs is
about the same over MSRP as the rest of the area dealers. At least they
know what they have coming in and when (more than I can say for some area
dealers). They have a huge selection of used bikes to choose. Nicest
people that I talked to." - VL 1/00
"STEALER! After spending $200 bucks at an event at HD Cool
Springs, I broke down in sight of the dealership - my positive battery
cable broke. I called asking if they could send someone out with
battery cable - I was less than a mile away and they were leading rides
right by me all day long. They said my bike was too old and they
didn't have part #; I said I only needed a 12 inch heavy gauge wire, with
ring terminals on each end. They said that they could give me the
number of a tow truck, and they could probably fix it in two weeks!
R&B Cycle works GAVE me a battery cable - took me 10 minutes to
repair!" - LJ 7/01

"Can't blame them for closing up New Years Eve at noon, just as I drove
up. Seemed friendly enough, gave me a card. Don't email them, I waited
over a week for a price on a FLHT and ended up buying elsewhere. Why put
the addy on the site if they're not going to read their mail?" - RE 01/02
"Been riding Harleys 15 years. This is BY FAR the ABSOLUTE WORST
$tealership I've ever seen. Took my bike to them (5/13/02). Had oil leak
that dripped on ground. Needed top-end, requested Axtell pistons, 2500mi.
service and few bolt-on things which I supplied. Got an $1849 estimate
and told it would be done in 2-3 weeks MAX. After 7 weeks, I finally had
enough of their LIES/EXCUSES and picked my bike up unfinished. They
didn't know how to fix it and used me for experimental project, at MY
EXPENSE. Mechanic admitted that nothing the tried, to solve my oil leak,
had done any good. Parts man said that when I brought bike in they were
slow, but since then, new bikes were coming in that took priority. Now,
after 7 weeks of their incompetence and $3362.90 later (OUCH!!!). Now my
bike doesn't drip oil on the ground; it BLOWS oil all down the right side,
on me and right saddlebag. I'm sure this $tealership will deny this, but
I have phone calls documented and recorded, conversations in person voice
recorded and condition of my bike video-recorded. BUYERS had better BEWARE
of this $tealership! Use Sill's in Paducah, KY." - BB 07/02
"Just bought an '03 Softail from Bumpus H-D. I live in West Tennessee
and checked as far east as Knoxville, as far north as Paducah, and south
to Memphis and got the best deal from these guys. The selection was
better than any other dealership I've visited and the facility was
immaculate - even the service department was spotless. Most importantly,
the sales staff was eager to serve. I had three salesmen come up to me
within a 10-minute period to ask to help me when they saw nobody else was
waiting on me (the previous two left me alone because I told them I was
just looking). During the times I visited this dealership, they offered
me test rides, gave me a tour of the facility, let my kids ride the toy
Harley, and most importantly, made me feel welcome. I looked at C&S in
Nashville and Abernathy's in Union City and even the sales people who
weren't busy would just look away when you walked by them, no matter how
interested you appeared. No high- pressure sales people, no cold
shoulders, just the right amount of attention. They even remember you by
name when you come back in. Thumbs up, five stars, etc." - JC 02/03
"By far the best purchasing experience I have ever had. Everyone at
Bumpus was great from sales, accounting and service department. Bumpus was
a little ways away from me so I bused in only to have one of their staff
pick me up from the station and drop my at the H-D entrance. The whole
experience (so called "your special day") was excellent. I was recommended
to Bumpus and will recommend anyone else to go there as well. Financially,
I got the bike I wanted at a price that couldn't be beat within the
surrounding area as well as GA and AL. Customer service has been awesome.
The list is endless. Highly recommended and will go back if the
opportunity ever arises." - TD 03/03
"I purchased my 03 Heritage Classic from Bumpus HD of Jackson. From the
first time I walked in the door, I could not ask to be treated any nicer,
did not get any high pressure sales people and everyone in the building,
from the owner to the receptionist, wanted to help in any way they could.
The bike I wanted was not in stock nor on order yet they called one of
their other stores and found one. In two days it was on the floor! Since I
have taken possession of the I have received a personal thank you from the
owner in the mail, several follow-up calls making sure everything was okay
and when I walk in the door, I am greeted like a king and not as someone
who is just a tire kicker. This dealer has to be one of the best
dealerships in the HD system. Highly Recommended!" - KP 08/03
"While vacationing in Tennessee from Rhode Island, My 01 Roadking broke
down 9 miles outside Jackson. I called HOG. roadside assistance and they
flat bedded me to Bumpus of Jackson. When I arrived at the Jackson
facility I was treated as if I were a life long customer. Impeccable
service and the friendliest dealership I have ever visited in the 10 years
I've owned a Harley. To the crew at Bumpus of Jackson, with the deepest
gratitude, Thank you for being there and making the frustrating experience
of breaking down on the roadside a pleasure." - FF 07/04

"In early August of 2000, our Evo let go at 37,000 miles. I had been
trading with Knoxville HD, so I called in to see if they could help us
with the Official Harley remanufacturing process. I was told that that
they could book me on October 8. I made the comment that that seemed to be
quite a ways away, and was told that most people wait till winter to
rebuild their motors, anyway. I called Smith Bros. in Johnson City. I had
never traded with them before. They took me in the next day, and within 3
weeks, we were back on the road." - EM 08/02
"I purchased a new RKC from them in August. Was in the shop in April

"Just bought a 2001 Road King Classic - The people up in Knoxville
HD did everything they said they would do. Very pleased. Their
price was about $1,500 less than local dealers. Best price in the
Middle Tennessee area. I would return again, no question!" - DH
3/01
"They are very nice, but they don't charge 1500 over retail I am
on a waiting list for a Superglide, without anything and in black the cost
is 13300 now subtract 11470 and you get 1830. Fuzzy math I guess.
Any other brand bike I have priced is the same as the web price states.
But they are cheaper than Steel in Chattanooga. But Harley is what
it is, and there are a lot of us mid-life guys out here." - JS 4/01
"Bought a Pearl White Fat Boy at Knoxville H-D in June. Very happy
with transaction. Sales person was very helpful and knowledgeable. Service
department has been great (check engine light came on and they worked me
in immediately) turned out nothing was wrong. Parts department, well they
don't stock it all but will order it for you, (back order on several
items). Super good attitude from all there. The new 88 twin is
awesome!" - RL 7/01
"To make a long story short, we purchased a used 1989 FLSTC under
pressure of a salesman that made sure we knew we had better jump because
it was such a great deal and their service dept had Gone Through It, it
was road ready except cleaning up and he could save us a thousand if we
hurried. We hurried, the crooks knew the bike was a trashed out junker. We
had to order new reman. engine and all electrical, primary chain, and
other parts too numerous to list here, now this old junker has cost us
over $17,000.00 and a year of heartaches because they are thieves. Our
first Harley will be our last because we could never afford another after
this one stinking rip off. and yes, we have filed complaints with every
BBB, HD Consumer affairs, etc. and they reply by saying my wife and I are
having buyers remorse, nothing wrong with the bike. you can refer to the
RipoffReport.com for a more detailed explanation. We can offer copies of
the owners letters admitting Misrepresentation if you don't wish to
believe us. Our service work, engine etc. was done by STEELS so we have
all the receipts to show they (Knoxville HD) lie, cheat and steal to make
a buck" - RM 9/01
DEALER REBUTTAL of RM 9/01: "This customer purchased this motorcycle as
a used unit shortly after we received it for sale. We never had a chance
to detail it or verify the condition and therefore we sold it at less than
market value.($2,000 less than our normal pricing). After he started
complaining, we offered to inspect the motorcycle and give him our opinion
as to condition, however he never returned for any reason. He only
complained and wrote letters to everyone asking them to do something for
him. His only option was "Give me my money back". Even though he
purchased the motorcycle as-is where-is (he signed a statement to that),
why would you not take a purchase that you though had a problem back to
the selling dealer and see if there was not something that could be worked
out. Not saying we would have made any offer, but if he had made any
contact in person and we did make an offer, the costs to him or us would
have been much less than what he is claiming. ($3,000 for a rebuilt engine
when H-D rebuilds them for $1,995 and other inflated costs). This person
is complaining about something to which we had no control after his
purchase. He knew the condition, the terms of the sale and that it was a
12 year old motorcycle." - Knoxville H-D
"Purchased my 2001 Superglide in early summer and have enjoyed it The
problems I have had are service related. I arranged for the dealer to put
on a sissy bar, this was done with my 10% discount. Problem number one
was it wasn't the one I ordered, no big deal but it was up to me to do the
leg work required to fix the problem. They have the service department
located separate to the sales floor, were parts are sold. Now after only
a few days there is rust present on the hardware where the side plates
were removed. Once told this in the follow up call I am promised that the
owner says all will be taken care of, now two months later I was told at
the service area there is nothing they can do it just happens to these
things. Not sure the right hand knows..etc." - JS 10/01
"I bought a 2002 Roadking from dealer 5 month ago. Nice people.
salesman and credit dept. went out of their way to clear up credit
error so I could get the bike I wanted. great service dept. they only
charged 1000 over MSRP, but they gave me a year of free schedule maintenance
that would have cost me a thousand or more." - JH 07/02
"In early August of 2000, our Evo let go at 37,000 miles. I had been

"After shopping around at several Harley dealerships in and around my
area and also checking out internet prices, I was told by a friend to
check out Harley of Knoxville. At this point I was wondering if I ever
would own a Harley, since all the dealerships that I had visited wanted
anywhere from $2,500 to a highest price of $3,500(at Smith Brothers Harley
in Johnson City) over MSRP. To make a long story short, I traveled to
Knoxville H-D, ordered the bike I wanted, it came in 4 weeks later, when
they said it would and was in perfect condition. I bought my new Harley at
a fair price with no unwanted add-ons and was given 1 year of free
maintenance. The salesman was very professional in every way. He spent a
great deal of time going over every aspect of operating my new bike. Also
he took the time to go over safety tips. I have bought countless
automobiles over the years and buying my new Harley was by far the best
and most enjoyable buying experience of all. The salesman as called me 3
times since I bought my new bike to see how me and the new bike was doing.
He didn't have to do this and surely he knows that I'm not in the market
to purchase another new bike any time soon. I think he values me as a new
customer. A Totally satisfied customer." - RH 12/02
"I bought a new '04 HD this past fall. The staff was extremely helpful
and they sold it at $500 over MSRP which included dealer setup and freight
plus half-off my first service. A big difference from Pikes Peak HD in
Colorado
Springs (where I just moved from) who charges $5-6k over MSRP! Support
the dealers who keep the prices as reasonable as the mother company will
let them." - JB 01/04 |

"This place is the best. My wife and I inherited a 2001 Heritage Springer
Softail from her father who recently died of Cancer. We wanted to find a
good dealership who could help us to learn about the bike. These guys were
great. The service guy walked me around and explained the different
models. Showed me the parts department and the service department.
Explained how services went (every 2500 miles or so) and gave me his own
05 wish book (they were out of the ones they give to customers). He also
suggested the service manual for my bike for those little things that need
work. I left feeling like one of their best customers and I hadn't even
purchased anything. I did go back for the manual. These guys will get ALL
my business from now on." - RF 12/04 |

"Gold wrench folks ... sales people seem to be always on hand, and
not pushy... and really work with even new buyers ... They work off a
list, but often have new bikes on the floor too and a good selection of
used scoots. Prices vary on mark up but in my experience average $1500...
but that's true at trade in too. It's a market value thing. Parts folks
are knowledgeable. No complaints with service and the new place on Whitten
road is beautiful. I've bought 4 bikes from them ... guess that says it
all." - KS 4/01
"I was impressed by the dealership (building and showcase) The
parts department on the other hand didn't have what I'd consider very
basic parts. I needed rear shocks and a set of axle adjusters for my '93
1200 Sporty. My buddy needed an oil pressure indicating light for his '93
Sporty. They had none of these parts. We were there from out of town. I
had ridden from Georgia and called from within 5 min. drive and asked them
to stay open for about 10 min. past closing on Saturday and was told
"Sorry, you'll have to come in tomorrow". Well, it's a good
thing that I had planned on staying over night anyway. When I rode across
town on Sun., (35 mi.) Stood in line at the parts desk for 30 minutes and
I found out that they didn't have anything I needed anyway!!! By then, it
was too late to ride on to New Orleans and cost me an extra day in
Memphis. Thanks a lot Bumpus!" - MH 7/01
"Bumpus Harley Davidson has been a very good experience for me. Just
bought a 02 Softail Standard. My price was $1500 over MSRP. At the time
of purchase, my accessories were 10% off and they gave me 4 hrs labor.
This may not be the most absolute best price in the country, but they
treat you like your business is truly appreciated. I had a rattling sound
coming from the rear pulley area, so I called them to tell them I was
coming on a certain day.( I live 150 miles away) I arrived at 10:00am,
rolled my bike in, went and ate lunch and was ready to go with a bike that
was fixed by 12:00. They truly made a possibly bad experience a good
one. I highly recommend them! The dealership is beautiful and top
notch." - PC 05/02
"After having the dealership in my hometown of Jackson, MS REFUSE to
perform recall/warranty work on my Buell S1 (even after HD/Buell customer
service called them) I agreed to transport my bike to Memphis for them to
perform the work. The folks in Memphis could not have been nicer or more
accommodating...even apologetic for my local dealer. They pre-ordered
parts so I would not have too much down time. They did a thorough
inspection of non-recall/warranty items and provided me with a list of
suggested repairs/maintenance items without me feeling like they were
trying to force me into anything. They even stored my scooter free of
charge when I was unexpectedly delayed in picking it up. I needed some
parts for one of my other bikes and though they did not have them in stock
they ordered them on the spot and shipped to me timely. Work was of
exceptional quality. They did what they said and didn't charge me a dime
for the recall/warranty repairs. Beautiful showroom, flawless shop,
friendly and helpful parts and service personnel." - JP 07/02
"While on a trip 800 miles from home this dealership WOULD NOT HELP ME
with a break down. Their excuse was that they were closing in 30 minutes
and wouldn't have time to help me. We were staying in horn lake ms which
is 20 minutes away from there dealer ship. The dealer in horn lake was
closed that day so I had no choice but to try these people. They failed
miserably." - RC 01/03
"My wife and I limped into this dealership in late May with serious
engine problems on our '97 Ultra. We were in the first week of a 3-week
cross-country trip, and for awhile it looked as though we would have to
abandon our vacation plans. Faced with the choice of a factory
re-manufacture or a dealership rebuild, we elected the latter (at the same
price), and Bumpus had us on the road in 8 days. OK, we did not get the
one-year warranty or new powder coat that would have come with a factory
remanufacture, but we did more-or-less salvage our vacation. We were
extremely impressed with their courtesy, honesty, skill, and helpfulness.
I cannot say enough about how pleased we were with this outfit, and --
best of all -- 1900 miles later the engine is running well. RECOMMENDED."

"I can not begin to tell you how nice the folks at
Colboch HD have been to me and my husband. They are always happy to assist
you and have smiles on there faces. Always a good Varity of bikes on the
floor new and used. Large selection of motorclothes, parts, and accessories
to fit a Varity of riding tastes and needs. And since we are out of state,
we are even more amazed as they are 100 times more courteous than our home
town dealer. I give Colboch an A+!" - LB 08/02 "In June 1999 I bought my first HD from Colboch's. Since
that time, I have had absolutely no regrets. All my chrome, leather and
aftermarket parts came through them. They do all the service work on my
bike, unless I am traveling. It was 5 years old this last June and I have
ridden it over 90,000 miles. When I did have a problem while traveling, the
service department talked with me on my cell phone and pointed me at a fix.
They serve free, home cooked lunches to all their customers.. .that's right,
I said FREE. I will never forget the HOG chapter having a ride on Sunday.
They met at the dealership which is usually closed. They opened the
dealership just for those going on the ride. While there, I noticed the
service manager at his desk. When I ask him why, he said one of their good
customers could not pick his bike up on Saturday so he came in to deliver it
to him on Sunday.
In July 2004 I took delivery of a new Road King. They sold it to me at MSRP.
I travel all over the U.S and have been in dozens of dealers. None of them
shine better than Colboch." - DH 09/04 "I live about 2 minutes away
from Coulbochs HD and when I was ready to buy I bike. I went there 3
different times. I spoke to 2 different salesmen at the time. I told them
what I wanted and both said no I could not get what I wanted and shrugged me
off. Maybe they did not take me seriously because I drive an old Suzuki
Samari to work and back and that's what I pulled up in. It was not like they
where busy doing anything I was the only customer in place. I knew I could
get the bike the way I wanted it, I saw all the parts in the catalogue. I
was talking about an additional $3500 worth of parts. So the 3rd time the
sales thumbed through the catalogue and said no they could not do it. I went
to Knoxville HD and bought the bike they way I wanted it, no big deal to
them. I have since bought about $1500 worth of items from Coulbochs, The
parts guys are pretty helpful except for one occasion and I do not want to
go there at this time." - KM 09/05 |

type. Said he had a couple of people on the list ahead of me, but
he'd call me if they weren't interested. I asked him about mark-ups
over MSRP, and he said they didn't do that. He told me some other
dealers mark their bikes way up, but he didn't. By the time I got home
that night, there was a message on my answering machine from them saying
the bike was a Night Train, and it was in. I called him back the
next day and he said it was mine if I wanted it. I asked how much
and he quoted me approx. $17,000 before tax. That's about $2500 over
MSRP. I told him I understood him to tell me the day before that
they sold their bikes at MSRP without marking them up. His
explanation is that I wouldn't find that at any dealer. I told him
thanks, but no thanks." - PM 1/00 "I now have 3200 miles on my Buell, and almost a year of
experience with Bumpus in Murfreesboro. Their service and parts
department are outstanding. They have a nice selection of SE
and aftermarket chrome dress up items on the walls and a large selection
of motor clothes. The staff there remember who you are and call you
by name most of the time. The service manager gave me his air-box
cover when I cracked mine open after lowsiding. I have to ride in
from N. Alabama to have the bike serviced and they always get mine done
within a few hours." - PB 5/01
"Just bought my 2nd bike from at Bumpus, a black 2003 Ultra Classic.
All the folks are great, they care about you. The prices are very
competitive and I am very, very pleased. The Service Department
knows what they are doing and will help you if you have a problem. They
won't ignore you. Give these guys a shot if your in the market for a
new/used scoot, service, chrome, parts or motor clothes." - KS 10/02
"Picked up a 2002 Heritage today from the guys at Murfreesboro. Did
research for three months before purchase and they were as competitive as
anyone, more so since they got my business. Great bunch there, no pressure
and no BS. No attitudes, just help, appreciation and friendliness. I'd
recommend them to anyone. Several of my friends have bought there as well
and no one is complaining. If you're shopping, give them a look." - BR
02/03 "Been looking for 6 months for a deal on a new HD, Bumpus' web site was up
to date will new and used bikes, local HD dealers (in Arkansas) would not
even talk to me about price or what they had in stock, the folks at Bumpus
were great to say the least! they spent the time on the phone with me
without any idea I was serious about a purchase, when I was ready and made
a choice they had everything ready for me after my 400+ mile trip, they
treated me like a life long customer! those folks are GREAT!" - CV 05/05
"I ride a '97 Heritage Softail Classic that I did not buy from Bumpus HD,
but from a friend in Fort Lauderdale. However, when I go to Bumpus for
service, they treat me as if I've bought 10 bikes from them. Recently,
after an unfortunate incident that resulted in my bike being dropped on
its right side, shattering the windshield, bending the handlebars,
breaking front brake lever and various other minor dings, I took the bike
to Bumpus. Trying to keep the bill as low as possible, I had asked to
install only a replacement windshield glass on the existing bracket. When
I went to pick the bike up, I found a whole new windshield kit had been
installed, raising the price substantially. When I pointed this out, the
service guy was very apologetic and went to find the guy who checked me in
to see what happened. Never did decide what the communication breakdown
was. Bottom line was, the service guy adjusted labor charges and gave me
discounts on all the parts to the point that it ended up actually costing
me a little less than it would have had it been done the way it was
intended. Having moved from Memphis a few years back, I've also had my
bike serviced at Bumpus HD there. Same story. They treat you like family.
From all appearances, this trait runs true through all their dealerships.

"Bought a new sporty , they do not shuck and jive you like the other
dealer I have dealt with in Tennessee. Sell at retail, Gladly ride the
extra miles to deal with them.. will even sell take off stuff cheap if you
need it, very good folks." - FP 11/05 |
BOSWELLS H-D
Nashville, TN

"This is a great Dealership. They care about their
customers, and stand behind what they sell. They have always taken
care of me, and are always looking to give me a good deal! Great
service at a great price. I don't go to any of the other dealers in
Nashville! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! The food is also great!" -

"Well, it's been a few months since we've bought our
Softail from Boswell's and that's why we have waited to post this on the
internet for other viewers to peruse. Call it a motorcycle purchase
evaluation period. My wife and I experienced a wonderful and
professional purchase from Boswell's. Very friendly were the
service/parts staff, salesmen and the owner himself. A family
oriented transaction. In other words, they know who you are when you walk
back in several months later. Saved us approximately $2000 + with
our purchase and kept promises as stated. Definitely a dealer you
would want to consider or, driving into Nashville- stop by to share the
experience and you'll see what we mean. Kudos to this dealership."
- TP 7/01
"Stopped in & asked about a 2002 standard, salesman said $ 16,250. I
said seems about $2500 over MSRP, take it or leave it. They had a nice
dealership but the bike prices were a little to high. Also had a used FLH
on floor with a puddle of oil under it. I caught salesman wiping it up." -

"Boswells gives Harley a bad name. This is the worst dealership should
something go wrong. The Buell I purchased from them 8/2001 was a lemon.
They couldn't fix it. I had to call Harley headquarters to get them to
look at it. The Engineer who came down to look at my bike said that he'd
dealt with Boswells before. He recommended Bumpus in Murfreesboro as being
a more professional dealer. I'd advise anyone to spend their money
elsewhere." - SM 02/02
"Sunday night a group of us were pulling in to a local watering hole
after a full day of riding. As we pulled in, one of the bikes drive belt
snapped. We pushed the bike into the parking lot, and someone suggested
calling the owner of Boswell’s (at home on a Sunday night) to see if he
could pick up the bike to take with him to the dealership the next
morning. About 30 minutes later, the owner pulled up in his own personal
pickup, helped load the bike, and took the stranded couple home. Of
course Boswell’s is a business, and they wouldn’t be in business long if
they gave everything away for free, but as far as friendliness, and caring
about their customers, it doesn’t get any better. This guy owns 3
dealerships in Tennessee, and his customers still feel close enough to him
to call him at home, on a Sunday night, and ask him for a favor. How many
businesses, of any kind, can you say that about? Hats off to Boswell’s."

"I bought my 03 Ultra from Meyers-Duren in Tulsa, in June of 03. When I
moved to Nashville a year later, Boswells began providing the service on
my bike. Although the bike was not bought there, they treated me like I
had been a bike buying customer all along. Recently, I had the bike in on
an injector issue. The owner called me personally to ask about my rear
tire. In walking through the shop he noticed it needed to be changed. I
knew it was and agreed that while they had it to replace it. Granted, he
got the sale of a tire and install, but to call me personally says a lot
about the character of this owner. He gives back to the biking
community." - MM 06/05 |

C & S H-D

"C & S Harley in Nashville, TN sells for $3000.00 and up over
MSRP. Used bikes priced accordingly. Stealership will not give a
decent value for a trade-in." - GG 10/99
"I bought a new 2002 1200S at C&S about 8 weeks ago. The bike was at MSRP.
I can't imagine getting more help from a dealer. Everyone was easy to deal
with and knew their stuff, from the sales guys to the techs. I rode
the bike back to Huntsville, AL (about 90 miles) and...they friggin'
CALLED when I got back to make sure it ran ok. Then they followed up
several times over the last few weeks. And while I was waiting around for
the accessories to be installed, I have to say, they had a whopping
selection of every bike new and used you could ask for, and the prices
were not hiked up at all. I would shop there again. Actually I
probably will, I'm lookin' for a Dyna now." - TB 08/02
"Keep both
eyes open when dealing with these guys. I won an eBay auction for some
saddlebags, but because I had initially contacted them by email, they
wouldn't give me the ebay price, and it became a "let's make a deal"
situation. After we negotiated a new price, they tacked on an additional
shipping fee, saying that their costs had gone up. Finally, they took a
month to ship them after payment (and two emails). The transaction was
not worth the aggravation." - JF 05/03 "Purchased a used Fatboy from this dealership. When I inquired about the
past history of this motorcycle I was given the run around. "We take in so
many trades we can't keep track of all the history", was one of the
responses to my many requests. Also heard "We'll look into it..". I never
received a satisfactory response to my multitude of requests for past
information. It wasn't until the final paperwork was being completed that
I saw an Arizona repossession title in the pile. I was buying a bike that
had been repossessed and after all this the motorcycle came with NO
WARRANTY! I could purchase an extended warranty for $1400. BEWARE OF C&S
Harley Davidson. - ME 10/05 |
ABERNATHY'S SALES
Union City, TN

|
"Looking for an '02 FLHT and they had one on the floor, $1300
over MSRP (marked down from $1900 over) + $1000 worth of add-ons I didn't
want. Didn't bother asking about ordering one that wasn't
"pre-personalized". I'll let someone else help them pay for their new
boutique building." - RE 01/02 "I bought an '01 Deuce from the owner
in Apr. '01, it had approx. $1400 in extras already on it. According to what
Deuces were selling for elsewhere, I got a very good deal. And he gave me
the usual Hog member's 15% off of the extras. Sure, he made big money on the
bike and the accessories (but not what some dealers get) but without profit
he wouldn't be there long. As for the employees, they've been very pleasant
to deal with." - LD 03/02 "Walked in to Abernathy's a couple of weeks ago. Stayed
and looked around at bikes and apparel and accessories for about a hour. No
one ever acknowledged I was even in the world, much less in their building.
Had to stand at the checkout counter for 15 minutes just to but a t-shirt.
There was no line. No one was available. Won't have to worry about me
spending time or money at this dealership!" - KP 09/03
"Looks like
they're building a new building across the street. Maybe to separate
the H-D from the other brands that they sell. From the looks of the
prices for both new and used bikes, I bet they pay cash for that new
building. I was in there for about a half-hour, not one person said
howdy or anything." - TH 06/04 |
