LITTLETON H-D
Bethlehem, NH

"Being from Rhode Island myself, I've never bought a
bike there. But every time I'm in the area I stop in. The people there are
very friendly and helpful. Even if you just feel like chatting they'll
take the time to talk to you. I believe they sell at MSRP." - RB
02/01
"In the summer of 2000, I heard several good things about about
Littleton HD. I started calling them in March of 2001. I was told the name
of the sales manager, and I spoke with him several times on the phone.
When he started accepting deposits on 2002 models, I made an appointment
and drove up. When I got there, I was given a sheet of paper, and told I
had to sign it. The terms on this paper were ridicules and insulting.
Basically, all bikes are 20 grand, and you have to agree to pay that up
front. When the bike comes in, they will make any adjustments that they
feel are appropriate to the price. If you don't take the bike for any
reason, you agree to let them keep the $750 deposit. After the bike comes
in, you agree to be charged a $10/day storage fee until you pick up the
bike, even if it's winter. There were other conditions, but you get the
idea. I told the sales manager I thought the terms were
unreasonable, especially for a local customer (note that I'm not the same
"RB" as the guy from RI). He insisted that all other dealers are
at least 5 grand over MSRP, and so his deal is a bargain. When I quoted
what other dealers where really charging, he just refused to accept it. To
top it all off, I thought his attitude was really lousy. I'll be taking my
business elsewhere." - RB 7/01
"I purchased a new bike from here November of 2003. Being
150 miles away from the dealership they were up front about the prices over
the phone, unlike most dealers in MA who were uncooperative unless you came
in person. The $1200 I paid over list they gave me in parts that I chose
from the '04 catalog. The sales staff was welcoming and friendly. As far as
service goes I have yet to have it serviced, but was told if I call and let
them know I'm coming that they'd be able to accommodate me. One small
complaint is that the down payment must be paid for in person. Two and a
half hours one-way to hand over a check is a little disconcerting, though it
was good to shake hands with the staff and work out the details in person."
- DH 12/03 "I bought a new FLHTI in march 04. I had looked at a few
dealerships in NH and Maine, no other dealer compares in this area.
Littleton Harley gave me a call with a quote. They sell there bikes at MSRP.
They told me all there bikes came with the Harley security system and told
me what shipping and dealer prep was going to be, I added those numbers up
and the total was a few hundred over MSRP and that is what I paid. they are
not high pressure. they are however extremely friendly when you have a
question or are ready to buy. You never wonder after you leave if you could
have received a better deal else where. I haven't had my bike serviced yet
but the service manager went over the whole bike when I picked it up and he
to was very good to deal with." - DS 04/04 |

"New bikes about $1,000 over MSRP including extended
warrantee. No bikes on floor. Small shop with a good parts counter. Good
people." - ST 5/00 "Just had my TC88b go out of time (gear spun on
crank that runs counter balancers) and called my dealer, did not want to
touch it. Called several other shops in the NH area no one wanted to touch
it until I spoke to HERITAGE HD and they said sure they would see what
they could do for me. I had not spent a dime in there shop until that day
and they were the only shop willing to help, many thanks to the folk there
and I'M back up and running thanks to them and I will continue to support
there shop." - ES 8/01
"Smaller shop with more personal service.
MSRP plus $1K to $3K. Helpful service department. The parts guy is a little
gruff, but he's helpful and knowledgeable. This is a good place to do
business." - ST 03/02 "They took me out back to see some bikes. They didn't
have what I wanted, but had one coming in in April 04. I think I paid about
2000 over MSRP (I paid 20,000). This included a 4 year warranty I was told.
I bought about 3000.00 worth of extras to be put on the bike when delivered.
Extras promised to be put on at no labor cost as long as they were put on at
time of delivery. I picked up a couple things around Christmas from
Heritage, brought them in before I picked up the bike, they charged me labor
to put those pieces I bought from them at Christmas. I cried "foul" to no
avail. They also charged me labor to install the Screamin Eagle stage 1 kit
and re-flash claiming "it was an internal installation, not external.
Therefore it was not included in the labor free clause". "Foul" again...to
no avail. Also have not yet had my chrome peeling hand grips replaced yet,
as every time I ask, they seem to be out of stock. Gave me a bunch of crap
about voiding my warranty if I used anything other that HD oil in the bike
too. As soon as my warranty is up, I think I will find an independent shop.
If I had to do it again, I would shop around for an MSRP dealer anywhere in
the country and have the bike shipped. I would have an independent shop do
my work." - BM 02/05 |

MONADNOCK H-D
E. Swanzey, NH

"The folks at Monadnock Harley
treat their customers right. They sell at MSRP plus freight. There is no BS
and no pressure. When I picked up my new Heritage they took all the time I
needed to answer questions. The bike came through with a small scuff mark on
one saddle bag and when the mechanic was going over the bike with me he
pointed it out and said they had already ordered me a replacement. It would
be installed at my convenience. You will have to wait for the bike of your
choice but it is worth it to save the extra cash. Which you can put into the
bike in options you want." - BH 11/01 "I just visited the Monadnock
H/D dealer from the Boston area to check out their inventory and pricing in
my quest to buy a bike. Their inventory was relatively small compared to
some of the larger stores. The sales staff was curious and asked if I
needed assistance. He also noted that every bike in the store was sold.
When asked about their future stock, he noted that they were sold out for
the entire 2002 and 2003 seasons. They sell at exactly MSRP and had sold
their allotment of 150 bikes to the 300 people that are in their lottery of
sorts. Apparently, repeat customers and those that have their bikes
serviced there are given preferential treatment. How do you get on that
list?" - PP 03/02 "I thought these people were a scam, nobody could be
that good! I put my order in for a new 2002 Sporty at MSRP. When the bike
came in I met the salesman who introduced me to the parts people, the
owners, and the technicians. My bike wasn't prepped yet but the technician
moved three other bikes out of the way so I could sit on it - it was great.
The technician and salesman talked me into NOT buying about $400 in
accessories - 'Shouldn't be necessary and you can always get them later'. I
was told I could 'wait for a nice day' to pick up the bike, they answered
all my questions, wished me luck, and said 'hope to see you back'. Monadnock
H-D is almost 60 miles from my house and there are three closer H-D shops
but this is the only shop I go to." - JS 03/02 "MONADNOCK H-D has got to be the best HD shop in the U.S.
It's a small shop of honest, friendly, knowledgeable techs, sales, and parts
people. The salesman knows his bikes and will advise you to get the right
accessories, not the most expensive. Bikes are sold at MSRP and to be fair
names are drawn from a lottery at the start of the year so it depends on the
draw and you have to wait. I pass several closer dealers to do all my
business here and I keep meaning to thank the owners for letting me be a
customer. Plus it's a great ride in beautiful country to get there."- JS
04/03
"The Owners and staff at Monadnock HD are top shelf. Not only do
they sell at MSRP, they still know the meaning of two very important words
that many have forgot: "Customer Service." I bought a new 01 FLH from
them after shopping many dealers in the NE area. The dealership is a75 mile
ride from my house, there are three dealers much closer to me that I
shopped. I won't mention who they are. Just my biggest reason for not
dealing with any of them, not even for a quart of oil. MSRP plus $3000 to
$5000. I won't go into the other turn offs. I started riding a Harley before
I was old enough to have a drivers license, started looking into a BMW LT
model before I met the folks at Monadnock HD." - TC 04/03 "Monadnock H-D provides excellent customer service. They
sell their bikes at MSRP. Why would anyone pay a penny over MSRP, when you
don't have to?? Need I say more!" - GV 05/05 |
TWIN-STATES H-D
Lebanon, NH

"Aug 2000, on way to NH/VT HOG rally, was given a price quote
directly from the owner, on my dream bike (2001 FLSTCI) for 3rd phase.
3 days later, called owner to order bike and was told that he wouldn't
sell to anyone outside his local area, because he would lose residual
business (I live in NH only 100 miles away!!!). I'll never deal
w/Twin States HD now." - HM 02/01
"I brought my bike in for an air cleaner kit install and a re-jet. They
installed the air cleaner incorrectly (neglected to use the kit's mounting
brackets so only the intake manifold gasket was holding in the carb and air
cleaner) and lost parts that came with the kit, broke off a piece of the
carb body when they removed the idle mixture screw cover and never changed
the jets. Because I brought my motorcycle to Twin States H-D first, there's
more work for me to do than there would have been had I done it myself." -
NB 8/01 "Limped into this dealer with a lot of valve clatter while on the
road. Techs diagnosed something amiss in the cam chest and got me right
in. The owner authorized the techs to work late if necessary in order to
get me back on the road. These folks gave me the red-carpet treatment as
well as getting the bike squared away, which turned out to be
disintegrating cam tensioner shoes after 60k on the clock. Can't comment
on prices or practices as I didn't do any shopping." - TM 09/02
"My brother recently purchased his first Harley from this dealership.
He could not stop talking about what a great experience he had. I am now
buying a Harley from the same dealership. They have been great working
with me making sure everything is just right. Their prices are very fair
and they do NOT take you for granted. Two thumbs up." - MT 11/03 |

MANCHESTER H-D
Manchester, NH
|
"Manchester H-D
deserves some attention for the outright screwing they've done me. I went to Manchester
H-D October 7 1998 and filled out a buyer's order. Manchester H-D will not accept deposits
and they will not sign the purchase order until they actually deliver the bike (covering
their ass). I should have known something was up then. They promised March/April 99
delivery. It didn't happen. It wasn't happening in May either (per dealer). They want a
good $2400 over MSRP for a 99 Fat Boy. The fact that the salesperson sold my bike to
someone else only because I got Harley-Davidson Corporate involved tells me they are not a
dealer I want to be involved with. They misrepresented delivery time, did not answer my
numerous phone calls, and they were very rude every time I did get through on the phone.
Especially rude in person. I'm not sure if they are stealers but they are certainly
assholes." - JT 7/99 "At Manchester Harley in Manchester NH, and
Nashua Harley (same owner) $8200.00 for a white Sportster 883 Hugger.
$22,000 for an injected Electra Glide Classic, $17,050 for a Night Train.
The prices almost made me puke. My wife over heard the manager trying to
justify the prices to a would be customer by saying that these were
"fair market prices"." - J 8/99 "Don't buy anything at Manchester H-D those guys are the
biggest feculators around. After waiting a year they sold my Fat Boy to
someone else (more cash) and told me mine hadn't come in yet. A call to a
VP at the motor company enlightened me to their practice of taking the
sold sign off the bikes when cash is offered (above their already $3000+
over MSRP.) The VP at the motor company (to be fair to H-D) did square me
away with another dealer in the area who was accommodating and fair. If
you live in New England DON'T even consider Manchester." - WD 5/00 "New
bikes are $4,000 to $6,000 over MSRP. They bolt on a bunch of chrome and
mark the bikes way up. There is always a good supply of new bikes on the
floor. Example: 1998 883 Sportster (used)- $8,995. Huge store with a nice
lounge including a pool table. Parts people are friendly. Tons of poser
crap. They also sell Buell and their own custom bikes (big bucks)." -
ST 5/00 "These Stealers not only sell H-D but also Buells. I own a 2000
FXD and want a second bike-a Buell. I saw the bike I wanted and asked the
salesman If I could hear it run, as it was used. He replied that they
never let customers do that. His reply was," buy it then you can hear it
run"---NO THANKS" - JS 7/01 "I visited Manchester H-D last
Saturday. Rather than order a new bike, I would like to try to find one to
my liking off the showroom floor. I was excited when I saw their sign
reading that they had 15 new Fatboys in stock. When my wife and I walked
in, they were all $19-21k. Then a salesman walked up and didn't introduce
himself, just began by telling me how good a deal he could give me, and
how he said he could take $1500 off the price if I bought one today (blah
blah blah). I'll be taking my business elsewhere, or anywhere I can get a
new FB for MSRP. There is no need for any dealership to charge more than
MSRP in today's market." - JH 02/02 "MSRP + $5K to $7K. 883
Sportsters for $9K. Sales staff with a take it or leave it attitude. Nice
boutique. Pool table. Big parking lot. Good variety of parts. Personally,
I wouldn't buy anything from these rip-off artists." - ST 03/02 "The dealer has had a change of ownership. Also attitude. Yes, there is
still the
2k-4k markup but they don't beat you up w/poor attitude as in the past.
There parts and service depts. are great to do business with. The techs
are
clean ,sober ,courteous and will spend time talking options w/you.
They rebuilt my crashed Cyclone-did it promptly and well.
Did some warranty work on it also. I like `em." - BO 10/02
"I have had a great experience with Manchester H-D. The salesman wasn't
able to quote over the phone but reassured me that the pricing on the bike
I wanted was going to be where I wanted it. Bought a new Sportster at very
close to MSRP. While negotiating the price I was treated respectfully and
courteously. The salesperson I spoke with answered all my questions and
was very helpful with suggestions. They have a great showroom and the
service dept. seem easy to talk with. I will definitely be back to
Manchester HD when it's time to upgrade!" - MG 04/04
"The problem
with this dealership is that it is being run as one would run a car
dealership. The dealer will sell a Bike at near MSRP++ if there is no
trade. If you are considering a trade go and get a colonoscopy instead or
perhaps a lobotomy. I've been there twice, and both times I was given
trade values of $2000 and $6000 UNDER wholesale value on machines in
PERFECT condition. I was given a lame brained excuse why they were not
giving me fair value. Then I checked their prices on used similar
inventory - CRAZY." - BO 01/05 |

"Meredith HD charges 10% over MSRP on big twins and
they require you to buy the extended warrantee. That worked out to $18K
for a brand new 2000 Electra-Glide Custom Fuelie (FLHTCI) with paint other
than black. They take names for next year's models starting on April 1st.
The list starts from empty on that day every year. Rick, the salesman was
professional and friendly. The staff is good. No deposit is
necessary. The service dept charges $48 for labor." - ST 1/00
"Sells bikes for about $1K over MSRP including extended warrantee.
Friendly people. $48 per hour for a mechanic. Sign-up for new bike list
starts April 1st." - ST 5/00
"Just bought 01 fxdwg2 5k less than Manchester H-D. Sales, service
and parts people are great no bs here." - JB 02/01
"Smallest of the HD shops in the area. MSRP plus about $1K includes
extended warrantee. Very pleasant staff. Good parts department. Lee and
Steve (service writers) are great. Mechanics are good, but not great. See
Rick in sales on April 1 to order your bike. You will probably have to be
from NH to get a bike, but if you schmooze him a little, you never know
what will happen. Take some doughnuts for the staff and tell Rick that
Steve with the Blue Geezer-Glide sent you. This shop is my first choice in
the Northern New England area. They want your business and will do their
best to give you a fair deal." - ST 03/02 "Meredith HD has a brandy new gigantic boutique. They no longer sell for
MSRP. Prices on bikes are $3-5K over list. I haven't checked to see if
they will dicker. The parts and service staff are still friendly and
reasonably knowledgeable. Steve and Lee, the service writers, are old-time
HD guys who will treat you right. I'll start here for my next bike, but it
looks like the prices will drive me away." - ST 08/04"Went to buy
a leather jacket at Meredith D-D Dec. '03. Saw the jacket at MSRP...no
problem..."wait, we are having a men's day sale next Saturday". Great, I
came back the next Saturday only to find an orange sticker over the MSRP
price, you guessed it, it was inflated to cover the sale I guess. What
thieves. That is so unethical. While I was there, I saw the 04 RK Classic
in Smokey gold sitting on the floor. I had to have one. But, alas,
Meredith H-D was not getting my money. So off to Heritage H-D in Concord,
NH." - BM 02/05 |
NASHUA H-D

"I was looking for an '04 Deuce at several dealerships. Nashua was the
only shop that had a black one in stock and available. Everyone was
friendly. The Salesman was helpful. The Business Manager processed my
transaction quickly. The Parts Counter guys knew what I was talking about
when I needed parts for my old Sporty. The Service Manager and his staff
built up a great bike for me starting with a stock Deuce. They even went
the extra mile and ran ALL the wires through the handlebars. I couldn't
get up to the shop to pick my bike up so they delivered it to my house at
NO charge in an enclosed trailer. Needless to say, I highly recommend
Nashua HD." - AC 05/04 |

"Nice sales rep, no charge to get on a list for a
Softail Deuce. They don't pre-sell their bikes. Several bikes in stock.
Prices are about avg. I guess, $3000-4000 over MSRP." - PH

"Seacoast HD charges about $3K over MSRP for new bikes. Their
service department charges $64 per hour for labor." - ST 1/00
"I had a great experience at Seacoast Harley Davidson. I
bought a 2000 FXST Standard. The price was 16,388 out the door. This
price included the first two service appointments. I was treated like a
king. Excellent service and the people are all extremely friendly. They
have a lot of activates for customers thru out the year, as well as a top
notch parts and clothing dept. The reason I bought here is because
of their great rep for customer service after the sale as well." - EM
02/00
"New bikes are $3,000 to $4,000 over MSRP. Mechanic is $64 per
hour. Their best mechanic, Willie Huber recently left for a private shop.
They are building a brand new 56,000 sq ft store. They are nice enough
people but they are too close to an abundant supply of yuppies with
money." - ST 5/00
"I have used Seacoast for Service on my Buell for the last 3 years and
I can say nothing but good things about them. Their service
department is knowledgeable and professional. Now if only they
would become a Buell dealer." - FO 02/01
"MSRP + $5K on pretty much all bikes. The last time I let them work on
my bike, they screwed up even the simplest items. This place has a great
boutique and a pretty good parts department. Go elsewhere for a new bike."
- ST 03/02
"This is one great dealership. Brand new facility with an unlimited
supply of new bikes in stock, extremely competent sales and service
departments, great P&A variety and availability, a broad motorclothes
selection and friendly caring employees. My experience with Seacoast has
been nothing but fabulous and we have purchased several bikes from them
over the past two years." - VT 03/02
"Stay away from this bunch if you are trying to buy a bike at
reasonable prices. They marked up the V-Rod to $25000 and were proud of
the fact that they had already sold 10 at that price. I tried to buy an
FXSTDi for $19,100, still above list. They declined the offer despite the
fact that they have 150 unsold bikes. I contacted Spirit HD in Pittsburg
via email. They are honest upfront guys. They sell at list, and list what
they have available on their website. I'll buy from them have it shipped
and still save $700." - BN 03/02
"My wife and I have bought twice from Seacoast and been treated
fantastically each time, we had one problem last year and it was taken
care of to our satisfaction immediately. Service department has always
been more then willing to work with us on our tight schedules. The bonus
is one of the largest and most modern Harley stores we have ever seen
along with a staff that really seems to care (not common these days)" - SM
04/02
"I have to tell you, Seacoast H-D has the best customer service I have
ever seen. You might pay more there, but they treat you like Royalty. They
always take care of problems right away, and all the people know your name
and make you feel like part of the family. I don't mind paying more, when
the support is flawless. My CAM bearing went last year, they had it back,
fixed in three days. And this was during the crazy season." - EM 04/02
"I purchased a 2003 FLHRCI at Seacoast in October 2002. I put my name on
their waiting list for a 2003 earlier in the summer, received a call much
sooner than I was told to expect it. I was charged about $4K over MSRP,
and I traded a 1999 Softtail, which they gave me about $2k over blue
book. Seacoast puts people who buy bikes from them at the top of their
priority list for service. If you live in the area and you want to have
your bike serviced at Seacoast you better buy it from them or be prepared
to wait. They charge top $ for everything, however they also give back in
the form of many party/sales/rally events for their customers. They
provide a lot for local charity/service organizations in the community in
the form of donations or use of the facility. They provided the facility
for a huge a "support out troops" rally as well as providing the facility
for MSA courses all summer just to name a few. I would recommend that
anyone in the local area interested in a new HD buy it at Seacoast, they
give back to the community, which makes me feel better about paying
extra." - DN 05/03 "Gigantic boutique dealer. Prices are
about $4,000 over MSRP. All employees are helpful and some are
knowledgeable. Service was $65 per hour the last time I checked. It
sometimes takes 2 months to get anything done. Too many Massachusetts
yuppies willing to pay too much have made the service department less than
desirable. My last service experience was not good, but they usually do it
right. I like the parts department. They are well stocked. Unfortunately,
they don't carry any aftermarket stuff. The boutique has a lounge and Coke
machines. The local HOG chapter is active. The customer appreciation days
are good because the food is free. I give them a C-, mostly because of the
high prices." - ST 08/03 "I bought my first HD from Seacoast and
will be going back to get another, sales staff was friendly, prices were
good (MSRP+ setup) and the service department goes out of their way to
satisfy you. On one instance I had a minor service performed and the
policy is to have the bike returned in 48 hours, they did not meet this so
to compensate me I received $$ off the service and my bike delivered to my
home! Now that is really caring for the customer." - RC 03/04
"I had a very good experience with them on my way back from bike week . My
rear tire needed to be replaced and they told me we can do it in three
hours. The job was done in 45 minutes! That was one fast tire change and I
was on my way. Thanks again." - BS 07/04
"I live and work within 10 minutes of Seacoast H-D. Absolutely beautiful
dealership. Nice parts dept. Nice parts counter people. All that glitters
is not gold. I was dismissed by the G.M. and given a sarcastic lesson,
publicly, on the economics of supply and demand, in front of four of his
salespeople. All this after I had offered him $1500 over list on a 2004
Screaming Eagle Electra Glide. He held firm at $4500 over list and told me
I was "lucky" because these are limited and if I didn't act quick, I would
lose this one and wished I had taken the "deal". I purchased the bike for
MSRP. $28500 at Plourde & Plourde. It cost me a one phone call and the
next day off from work and 8 hours of beautiful Maine scenery, but I saved
the $1500 that I had offered over retail and all of his extra mark up. It
is really a shame because I run a local business, and wanted to buy there.
The General Manager missed out on the big picture. Since the purchase of
my bike, I have spent about $14000.00 on motor work and customizing, right
across the street at Seacoast Choppers, and I will never even dream about
giving Seacoast HD my business." - CF 05/05
"I bought my Electra Glide Police from Seacoast. My experience with the
sales department at seacoast was one of filling my head with how well
maintained and serviced their police bikes are, and what a great deal they
are for the first time buyer working on a budget. After the salesman told
me they "don't" deal on the price of bikes, If I'm not willing to pay the
asking price, the next guy through the door most likely will, I proceeded
with caution. Finally after a few trips back and forth looking at the
police bikes I decided to go ahead a buy one. Dealing with the financing
end of things was a breeze, with in a few minutes I was approved, picked
the bike up, everything was smooth as glass. On the way home I stopped to
show some friends the bike, and it wouldn't restart this problem pretty
much went on for a few days. I called the dealer, they agreed to come and
get it. Received a call from the service dept, bike was done, nothing
found wrong with it, and told that if I knew what I was doing I could have
started the bike right up. They found nothing wrong with the bike, but it
never had this problem again. I've had other problems with this bike, and
would have paid the repair cost from my own pocket, before I'd return to
sea coast HD and have them fix anything! I've gone over to another dealer,
whom I feel is a lot more in tune with their customers and their needs. I
ended up at a much better dealership, and have spent a lot of $ with
them." - MO 10/05 |
