DODGE CITY H-D
Dodge City, KS
"Rolled in there toward the end of a several-thousand mile trip, with a broken crossover pipe.  They simply could not have been more helpful. Rounded up a part (which took some doing).  Got a tech right on it (as soon as he got back from lunch - can't ask for better than that). Asked if we had eaten and gave us a loaner bike to get into town for lunch.  (We also snuck over to Boot Hill to check it out.  Don't tell 'em.  <g>)  Definitely a *CAN DO* service dept.  I hope *all* future breakdowns happen in Dodge City." - JH 07/02

"I recently bought a new Fatboy at Dodge City h-d and am extremely happy with the service I got there. I paid pretty close to if not MSRP price for the bike and had them put on new exhaust and stage 1 kit for me. The guys were super friendly and very helpful. I live in KC and the dealerships here wanted 4 to 5 grand more than what I paid. I looked at dodge city’s page and list there inventory and prices on the site, they had the bike I wanted on the list at a good price so I called down there and did the deal on the phone on a Wednesday drove 5 hours on Saturday to sign the papers and pick it up and could not be happier. Great bunch of guys, salesmen and mechanics." - PM 10/03

"I was on a recent cross country trip and stopped at the Dodge City dealership since I was experiencing two problems.  An oil leak which another dealer charged me to fix and did not and a complete shutdown of the bike at various times.  The Dodge City dealership was extremely helpful and was able to diagnose and repair both problems quickly and at minimal cost.  The staff was very professional and I would recommend this dealership to anyone in the Kansas area needing a solid dealership." - DM 06/04

DOERFLERS' H-D
Hays, KS
"I bought my 2002 Road-King Classic over the phone from there salesman.  Never went to the dealership until my bike came in, I felt like I stole my bike for just $850 over MSRP. I been to other states since I bought my bike and think of how much I saved. They give you 10 percent off all purchases for one year, and they actually will talk to you when you come in the doors. I have only good things to say about there dealership." - EW 01/02

"In Hays, Doerfler's H-D, they know me by name and greet me when I walk in and I feel like I'm at home." - KP 04/02

"I ordered a 2003 Heritage Softail Classic from them in early summer, 2002 at MSRP. Expecting it in the summer of 2003. We need more dealers like this who are not greedy. They could probably get more for their bikes, but they don't  They seem to understand what good customer service is all about. If all goes well with this deal, they have made a new customer for life. They have warned me that their local customers come first. And that I may not even get a 2003. At least they are being honest up front. And I don't care if its a 2003 or 2004, I just want a fair deal. I have a bike to ride until my new one comes in." - SM 08/02

"On the way back from Sturgis in 2004 my wife's '02 Lowrider broke down 120 miles outside of Hays, KS late in the afternoon due to a burned-up starter.  Doerfler's towed the bike to their dealership and replaced the starter first thing the following morning.  Everyone in the dealership was courteous and helpful.  I was very impressed with the dealership and would drive the 500+ miles one-way to purchase a new Harley from them." - GS 06/05

CITY CYCLE SALES
Junction City, KS

"City cycle sales in Junction City Kansas is a great place for an oil change, five bucks for labor. This is a great dealer they make you feel at home and hate to leave. They sell for msrp waiting list." - JB 1/00

"I got a 2001 ULTRA at city cycles the nicest place I have ever been, they know your name ever time you come in the shop and they sell for MSRP and a 10 %  discount to HOG and also ship, this is a great place." - DB 6/01

"I purchased a 2002 Sportster 1200 custom from City Cycle sales. The owner is the greatest lady I have ever met. She sold me the bike for list price. She gave my entire family t shirts. She kept the dealership open on a Friday night 2 hours late just so I could drive up from Olathe. I tried to negotiate with Central H-D before calling City Cycle. Central told me they were doing me a favor selling me the bike 1500.00 above list. I called both the Worth dealerships. They told me their list price was 3000.00 above list. The Worth salesman was very arrogant and rude. I will never buy any parts or service from Central or any of the Worth dealerships." - BG 06/02

"The saleswoman was very friendly and is selling me a 2003 FLSTC for MSRP. They will put you on their list and the only string attached is you have to visit them in person to put down your deposit. Mine is an extra allocation bike that I only have to wait a little over a month for. I feel very fortunate to find such a great deal from such a friendly bunch of people. They give a 10% discount on parts and accessories for one year after purchase. And their hourly shop rate is way below anyone I have been to in Kansas City (I think she quoted me around $45/hour). I'll probably have them do most of my maintenance even though they are so far away. It will be a good excuse to go for a road trip. I was told if I call ahead they will fit me in and even loan me their truck to go eat lunch somewhere in town! I can't say enough about these great people! They also sell Kawasaki motorcycles and ATV's with a good selection of new and used bikes, including some new 2003 Sportsters on the floor. " - SM 03/03

"A great dealership.  These people do not suffer from the arrogance that you experience at some Harley dealers.  I purchased a 2003 Sportster right off the floor.  The initial paperwork was done over the fax and made my down payment in person.  I got exactly what I wanted for MSRP.  Went to Central and Worth North in the KC area and both wanted at least $1500 over MSRP.  If you are in the KC area, drive the 150 miles and save yourself the $2000 or more.  If you want a big twin you will probably have to wait, but it is worth it-these are good people.  The saleswoman/owner(?) told me they were getting ready to build a new building for their dealership closer to the interstate.  That should make going to this dealer a truly great experience.  I also did my 1000 mile service there and they offered me the truck to run around while I waited." - DH 04/03

LIBERAL H-D
Liberal, KS
"I have found the people at Liberal HD to be friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.  It is a small but well stocked shop.  They usually have several new bikes in stock, and will special order one with minimal wait time." - KV 01/02
H-D OF SALINA
Salina, KS

CENTRAL H-D
Shawnee, KS
"They sell at around $1500 - $2000 over MSRP OTD. They do not charge extra for Pearl or Two Tone paint. They have about a three year waiting list. I heard they tried to open another store in Olathe, KS but the MoCo thought it would hurt sales at the Worth stores across the state line in Missouri. We NEED some competition around here! Central H-D can't compete with 1/3 the allocation the three Worth stores get. Worth's prices are about $5500 over MSRP. Another store in the Kansas City area would reduce the wait at Central H-D and maybe force Worth to lower their prices some. I find it hard to believe the MoCo would protect dealers that gouge like that!" - SM 8/01

"I just wanted to let you all know how pleased I am with the service I have rec'd from Central H-D.  I have been on bikes since I was 7 years old but I have only owned a Harley for the last year (I'm 35 now).  In my recent experience with your service department I can say from experience what a difference Harley makes!  They worked with me to ensure the best possible options for service on my Sportster and actually talked to me like I was a human being!  He took his time to politely answer questions and review the process with me.  Try getting that from the import dealers!  Recently, I have been in the middle of adding forward controls to my bike and ran into a bolt I couldn't remove.  I brought the part in and they stopped what he was doing, took his time to place my part on the vise and went after it with the air-wrench.  In no time at all the bolt was loose and now I can finish my forward control project.  That's the kind of service that will keep me coming back for years!  Again, great job guys and thanks for keeping me on the road!" - MM 03/02

"When I was in the market for a Harley I stopped by Central first.  After being ignored for 20 minutes a salesman finally acknowledged my presence only to see another person he knew and blew me off again.  Finally, when he got to me and found out I wasn't currently a Harley rider I was treated like the proverbial red- headed step-child.  Of the 3 bikes they did have on the floor, I asked of the Softail standard as to which the salesman replied that since I rode jap bikes I couldn't handle that one. Well, I did buy a Harley.  But not from Central, even when I do go in there now, on the very rarest of occasions, I am treated very poorly.  Wouldn't recommend this place to anyone." - MW 04/02

"Central HD has the best prices in this area and everyone there was so polite. I bought my second Harley from them and they had the best price hands down. No other dealer in this area could touch them. I saved almost $6000.00 on a Deuce from them vs. Worth or St. Joe Harley. My only problem was at delivery the bike was not cleaned and my paperwork wasn’t ready so delivery took nearly 2 hours although the with money I saved I was more than willing to overlook this. I would definitely buy from them again." - CG 06/02

"I have purchased 5 motorcycles from Central HD, including a 100 year anniversary model and I cannot complain about their prices.  Their service department treats me very well and does good work.  I recommend them to any of my friends that are looking to buy a new Harley." - SH 11/02

"Me and my son went to look at buying a new bike on a Friday afternoon walked around dealership without a glance from anybody. Looked at bikes with no help from sales and could not find anybody interested in helping us at all. I am still looking for a bike but I think it will be elsewhere." - DH 12/02

"I visited Central HD two times in the last month looking for a new 1200C. Both times I was completely ignored.  No one so much as said hello. Yesterday, the sales lady just sat behind the counter jabbering with a couple friends swapping stories about Sturgis.  I walked up to the counter and stood there for a couple minutes but was not acknowledged.  I left.  All I can tell you is that their Silver/Black 2003 XL1200C was priced at $11,100.  I don't know how far they would have come down." - JB 08/03

"The rack holding my tour pack on my 2000 Elect. Glide Classic broke in June.  I heard from a friend that Harley was fixing them free because of a defect in the racks.  I contacted Central's service dept. who told me that was a parts problem.  Parts person said he didn't know of any recalls so I should just fix it myself.  I then called Worth HD in Gladstone, Mo. who had me bring it in, they fixed the rack and license plate bracket for free.....and washed my bike! I guess buying the 5 bikes from Central doesn't mean much to them anymore so I am not recommending them to my friends anymore." - SH 08/03

TOPEKA H-D
Topeka, KS
"You have about a 6 month wait for Sportys and they quote you 18-24 months for the Dynas, Softails and Baggers, but it is typically 12-18 months as someone usually drops off the list.  The price quoted will be MSRP, delivery, setup, and tax, but NO premium.  They do the first servicing and even throw in a couple of shirts (your choice, not theirs!).  They don't carry many in stock, but I can wait when I get treated like that." - AP 11/99

"This dealership is family oriented for 3 generations.  I feel very fortunate to have met them.  I have purchased 2 bikes and shortly 3 from them.  I first met Mr. Patterson as owner and family members as his associates. Mr. Patterson is no longer living however his legacy lives on.  His grandson,  is now manager of Topeka H-D and he is a pleasure to work with.  I would encourage anyone who is looking for a bike to call him or any of his salesman.  They are all top notch and bottom dollar on their prices.  I drive from Kansas City, MO to Topeka, KS to purchase my bikes for price and service." - HH 04/02

"Just wanting to let folks know that this is the dealership for you.  They have about a $500 mark up over MSRP and about the best bunch of guys that you could ask to deal with.  I drove from Malvern, AR to pick up my Sporty and saved about $2,000 compared to what they want for one in AR.  The GM takes care of the Sporty sales and is the nicest guy you could ever want to meet.  They take you through an extensive walk through on the bike to make sure that everything is perfect before you leave.  I would suggest this dealership to anyone who is within driving distance.  After the purchase was over my father-n-law decided he wanted to buy one from the guy too, although there is a good waiting list to get on.  Overall, when I get my big bike "Topeka Harley" will be my choice once again." - RP 07/02

"I ordered a 2003 FLHTCUI from TOPEKA and was advised that the bike would arrive sometime in June. I picked up my bike on May 28th. They charge very little over MSRP plus they give 15% off on all parts. I live in the St. Louis area of Missouri which is about 300 miles from TOPEKA. I would have traveled twice the distance to buy from  these guys. You just can't find a better bunch of people, they treat you like you're someone, not a dollar sign. I will be going back to TOPEKA for the 1000 mile oil change and checkup and more accessories. At my age, I may not buy another bike, but, if I do it will be from TOPEKA. I can't say enough good about these people, a great bunch of guys and gals. Thanks TOPEKA!" - BT 06/03

"I called them and stated what I was interested in.  The salesman told me I could order the Road King I wanted and have it in 5 to 6 months.  He said they could even take my deposit over the phone.  I decided to drive over anyway.  I had been there before but only to visit their museum.  Everyone in the place was sincere, not pushy, even my wife thought so.  I never had to ask to speak to anyone nor was I bum rushed by people working on commission.  I ended up getting what I wanted for $220 over MSRP but with the two free hours of shop time and the 1000 mile service free, I came out under MSRP all things considered.  This place is definitely a customership not an ownership." - DR 12/03

"I watched one friend buy a Heritage Classic from them in person, I was sitting there, and they were a straight down the line MSRP dealer in that transaction. He was very happy with his purchase and I was impressed by the dealership. On the basis of that, I recommended them to a second friend and he didn't have a good experience. He did the deal over the telephone and then showed up with a check for the agreed price on a new Ultra Classic. The salesman told him he had another bid on the bike and it would take an additional $2000 to buy it. My buddy tore the check up in his face and went out and bought a new Goldwing. I didn't see the second transaction attempt to take place, but I have no reason to doubt it. Maybe a rouge salesman, but I thought I'd report it. When I ask the employees at the Harley plant here where they buy their bikes, they all say, "St. Joe and Topeka." so this can't be their normal business model. The museum is neat and it's a good place to go for lunch. During the first transaction, I asked if they had a V-Rod for MSRP and they did. This was back when a lot of dealers were asking $23,000 for them. I still think it's a neat dealership and this was an aberration. It still shouldn't have happened." - HL 12/03

"I took delivery of a 2004 FLHRI from Topeka H-D on 3-23-04 and rode it back to Seattle in 5 days. This was the third bike I have purchased from this dealership over 25 years and my loyalty is well placed. The bike was priced at MSRP and set-up perfectly. I was given 15% off on accessories and labor to install was free. They also give the 1000 mile service free although I wasn't able to take advantage of this. Sales and service people are friendly, knowledgeable and courteous without fail. (As they have always been) This dealership has been in the same family for over 50 years and they have a deep understanding of the Harley mystique. This is a first-class operation and a true representation of what a Harley-Davidson dealership can and should be. Thanks Topeka, for a great experience!" - DH 04/04

"Can't vouch for the sales dept, but recently when some friends and I were out on a spring ride, I busted a bolt on the rear master cylinder mount on my heritage. Stopped in the Topeka H-D lower parking lot and busted out the tools. Service writer, I think his name was Ben, was extremely helpful and made sure I was taken care of to the n'th degree. Then didn't even charge me for the nuts and bolts I needed to fix my scoot and get back on the road. Great customer relations. Thanks a million!" - MB 05/04

"I purchased a 2004 Road King Custom from Topeka H-D last year.  From the time I ordered my bike to delivery was 3 months which was exactly what my salesman promised.  They sold me the bike for MSRP.  They gave me a discount on all the aftermarket parts I ordered at the same time I ordered the bike.  Every other dealership I went to wanted at least $5000 over MSRP and/or couldn't deliver it for over a year! My Salesman has called me several times after the sale just to make sure I'm completely satisfied with the bike and when I see him at the dealership he still knows my name.  I can't imagine buying my bike from any other dealer." - TS 12/04

MID-CONTINENT H-D
Wichita, KS

"I bought a new XLH from them in '97 and paid $1,050 (about 20%) over MSRP, now I want to trade up to a '00 FXD and I thought since they had raped me once they might cut me a little bit of slack this go around but no- $1500 over Harley's suggested retail. Basically the staff there is great, especially Al in sales and Fred the service manager. I just disagree with the gouging policy. Yeah I know, if I don't like it I can go elsewhere, but it still sucks." - TV 9/99

"I just got a 2005 FLHTCI from Mid-Continent H-D today (12-31-04), this bike was priced at MSRP with no down, no interest, no payment for 90 days for a small increased interest rate (This was a great deal for Me). I was given 10% off on accessories and labor to install.  The owner, sales and service people are friendly and easy to work with." - SB 1/05
