GARY BANG H-D
Atascadero, CA
|
"I purchased a new 99 Road King Classic from Bang' s
and have enjoy the personal contact and service. I'd recommend them to
anyone looking for a fair deal from Honest people." - TB 11/99 "Visited medium-sized shop 9/25/01. Nice &
friendly folks, kept shop open past hours for a couple of us customers.
Talked to saleswoman, MSRP and no sales out of area." - JS 10/01 "I had
the same great service experience with this dealership back in '94 when Mr.
Bang senior ran it as Atascadero H-D. Siezed up a piston on my bagger
and limped it over the hill from San Simeon. Also turned out to be the
same week as Sturgis, so there was only one wrench working that week.
Gary had him stop the routine tire change he was doing and put mine on the
rack. Turned out had cracked a jug, so the wrench glass-beaded the
cylinder, did a decent weld on the crack, and got me back on the road by 5
pm that day so I could ride 'er back to SF for a proper fix'n. Oh
yeah, this took place on a Saturday, right after the dealership had had one
of them thar Motorclothes ladies' fashion shows. While I was waitin'
around, they offered up free food and beer leftover from the previous
evening's activities. A good example of how old-timers with lots of
saddle time can run a dealership the right way." - JS 10/01 "I've purchased 2 bikes in the last 2 years. MSRP is the
rule. You can price a bike from Gary Bang H-D right off the HD home page.
If the bike is on the floor the price tag is on it. If you don't see what
you want talk with the owner's wife or daughter and they will put your name
on a bike scheduled for delivery. If you are first on the list you get the
first right of refusal. No up front $.These are great folks to do business
with. They are just completing a new showroom at their present location that
should be ready around May 2005 or sooner. The service techs are 1st class
and will share their knowledge with you. It is worth it just to get a oil
change because your ride is super clean when it is returned to you." - BM

"Very good folks. They like their bikes and they make and
keep serious commitments to the customer. Just bought a 2000 FLSTC off the
floor for MSRP + parts and labor on the add on's. No bullshit, no scamming
around - it was just an honest deal that we completed in less than a day.
A real breath of fresh air dealing with these guys. I'd highly recommend
them." - RR 11/99 "There are three HD dealers within about 35 miles of
each other. Sacramento HD, Rocklin HD, and Auburn HD. About a year or two
ago the Auburn dealership was sold to some new folks. There has never
been any price gouging or rip offs until now. Auburn recently had a FXR4
for sale. They were asking about $1,800 over MSRP. The other two HD
dealers sold their FXR4's at MSRP. You see a lot of Road King's and Road
Glide's for sale that are loaded with $3,000 to $5,000 of "goodies" to
inflate their profit margin. A friend bought a 1999 Dyna and he was
getting brass and aluminum particles in the oil. Auburn would not fix it
and told him to "run it until it blows up". He took it to another dealer
and they tore it down and found a ruined thrust washer on the crankshaft.
They rebuilt his whole motor under the warranty. I have talked to people
in the service department and they don't know their dick from a petcock.
I would recommend that this "stealership" be avoided." - RP 12/99
"I went to Auburn Harley to buy my first Harley. It was my second bike,
I sold one at 17 and am now 40. It was a BAD move. They
treated me like hell, and when my bike was finally ready to take home,
they loaded it on a trailer and said "bye lady!" I am mortified to
tell you that when I got the bike home and started closely looking at it,
is when I found out it was belt driven, not chain driven. I didn't
know one damn thing about my bike and had to sit on it, with the owners
manual in my hand to figure out how to get it started and off the trailer
(Yeah, and have had to hear the ridicule from the neighbors "Hey lady, if
you cant figure out how to start it, why didya buy it??). They also
charged me 1,500 for a warranty extension, some 400 over the MSRP of the
warranty. THANK GOD a friend of mine was also looking for a Harley,
and his search took him to Sacramento HD. Sac told us the truth, I went
back to Auburn and asked about the overcharge. After a long run
around, they would give me the credit for the balance. If you are a
female DO NOT buy a bike from Auburn. GO TO SACRAMENTO." - TG 6/01
"Visited 9/22/01. Medium-size shop and selection. MSRP and
will sell out of area. Require minimum $2500 of add-ons/options with sale
or order, even a base FLHT. Shop rate $70/hr. (This is actually from
their Placerville ("Hangtown") shop, because the Auburn folks were too
busy to talk to me)." - JS 10/01
"Last year I passed through Auburn on a run, and I had
some problems with my blinkers and brake lights. I asked one of the sales
guys if he could check with the service department and see if someone
could look at my problem. Before I finished my sentence, a mechanic took
my bike and by the time I browsed the store everything was fixed. They
took care of me like I was their best customer, knowing that I will
probably never see them again (I live far way from Auburn). To make
everything even better, they refused to accept any money. Great
dealership, great people!" - LI 06/02
"Stopped by Auburn on way back from Reno, NV.
Wasn't really looking for a bike. Fell in love with a FXSTDSE. Bike was
price 4K over MSRP. They lost a customer for life with that greed. How
could you ever trust them with pricing or labor hours when they treat you
like that?" - RT 06/03
"I stop in Auburn Harley with a friend November 2004. They had a 2004
Buell Xbs 1200 on the showroom floor. It was love at first site. The bike
was a Demo with 3000 miles on her. No race kit, no extras. They were
asking $14,000 plus tax, setup, etc. The sales people were pushy, but I'm
not a impulse buyer. I went home a did some research. List on the bike was
$10,900 and the 2005 were coming out with a lower MSRP around $10,500.
With a little work I found a 2004 demo in so cal with 500 miles for
$8,600. About a month later I rode a friends wife's bike in there for a
service. The sales people recognized we and start to hound me. I was nice
at first, but they got to me. I ask them why they're so high and was told
it was a special bike, it probably isn't stock. After that sales people
would avoid me at all cost. I have not bought a Buell and may never buy
one, but I will never buy anything from these people." - EB 03/05 |
THORP'S H-D
Bakersfield, CA
|
"He generally has bikes on the floor, because he refuses
to take orders on the whole year's allotment. I had not intended to buy a
new bike this year, because my '93 only had about 65,000 miles on it.
However, when my wife and I saw the 2000 fuelie, we were hooked. Tex
insists on having uncommitted bikes either on the floor or coming in soon,
so that people like us can buy a bike without having to wait a year or so.
They're also priced at MSRP, without thousands and thousands of dollars of
added chrome. The service department is great and they'll bust their butts
trying to get travelers back on the road, even asking local riders if they
can put the travelers ahead of them. It's a family-owned shop that survived
the ugly days of the late 70s and early 80s and still appreciate the support
their customers have given them. I'll never buy a new Harley anywhere but
Thorp's. I've been treated fairly and feel comfortable when I visit the
shop and I highly recommend this dealership." -DS 12/99 "They went out of their way to get me back on the road to
the Laughlin river run, I broke down in a god forsaken place called lost
hills and had to limp in. Only took them 30 min. to do their magic. Thanks
Thorps." - JW 5/01
"While shopping for my 2001 FLSTC I visited 15 or so
Southern California HD dealers. I can honestly say that the folks at Thorps
were the most friendly of any dealers that I visited. The store is family
owned and operated, my salesman was the owner of the store and his wife help
me pick out a helmet. I didn't have to hassle with a middle man (sales
manager or sales man). I ordered the bike with the colors and options that I
wanted and the bike was delivered "as ordered" on the date it was promised.
I paid retail HD price and received a one-time %10 discount on parts. I have
7000 miles on the bike now and have been happy with the work done by the
service dept. Every time I walk into the store the owner greets me and my
wife by our first names. This is a very nice touch in a age where most folks
forget about you the minute you hand over the cash." - MR 9/01 |

"Service Department is first rate, and so is Parts
Department. Staff is knowledgeable and friendly. Nice to go into a
dealership where they know you by name. Free coffee and donuts Saturdays.
Only problem I've ever had with dealer (over 10 years experience) is in
trying to purchase a new bike; ended up buying bikes from other area
dealerships because they had first available bikes. Latest example is '00
FXST. However, all my service work and parts purchases are from Laidlaws."

VENTURA H-D
Camarillo, CA
|
"Their prices are typical, I never had service there (I
use indies), most folks I know that deal there are happy." - JG 7/01
"Unethical Dealership! Bike Prices one to five thousand over MSRP. Service
department is under trained. Service writer has no clue when it comes to
mechanics. Service techs seem to get more things wrong then right (shouldn't
EVERYTHING be done correctly?) Observed an employee refer one customer to
another customer for mechanical advice. Then watched the second customer
refer the first to another shop citing that Ventura HD's service department
would be unable to fix the most minor problems (and watched the Ventura HD
employee agree! Talk about pride in your workplace. Have watched as friends
have had their bikes "taken hostage" for months as the service department
could either not figure out problems or had dropped the ball on parts
ordering/ordering incorrect parts. Have heard of the dealership NOT standing
behind HD warranty service and claiming that the customer was "hearing
things" and "making it up" (twin cam bearing problems as it was explained to
me... doesn't HD have a service notice on this?) Also, this customer was
apparently a local motorcycle mechanic and was told by the service writer
and dealership owner that he was not welcome there any longer since
"mechanics know too much." Are they afraid that they will actually have
someone to answer to?" - JP 9/01 "Bought an 02' FLSTFI at list price. The salespeople are
super friendly and their service and parts department is great. I brought
my brother-in-law in to look at a new bike and they spent almost 2 hours
with him going over different bikes and what would or wouldn't work for him.
I would recommend them to anyone." - SS 04/03
"I made this my first
stop because it was nearest to me. I had never owned a road bike and was
looking at Sportsters. They were then being offered at $500 off MSRP.
$5,600 for a new Sporty sounded good to me! My salesman was courteous,
patient and knowledgeable, explaining my new toy to me as well as
introducing me to the parts and service departments. Everything was handled
professionally and my bike was delivered to my home free of charge. I have
dropped in a few times since and I am always welcomed. Ventura Harley
appears to be an honest, clean, well-managed business. All of their bikes
are marked at MSRP. Recommended." - SE 04/03 "Authorized
H-D Dealership that REFUSES to honor warranty service on a bike that was not
purchased there. Was greeted by the Service Manager in the parking lot with
a, "What do you want?" and it only went downhill from there. Watch out
brothers, these guys are SHADY. I have spent many dollars in this
establishment, but from now on... will take my money elsewhere and suggest
you do too. Lucky for me I made it to another dealership to perform the
warranty work before I was killed on the highway (other dealership deemed
the problem to be a defective caliper on a brand new bike with 4000 miles
and fixed the problem with no question). Shame on Ventura Harley Davidson
for allowing an unsafe bike with no brake to roll down the highway." - BC
09/03 "I recently did a one way cross country ride and used Ventura HD as
the shipment point for my bike. I was extremely impressed with how good the
service department was to work with for someone from out of town. They
received my bike and even did a warranty repair at no charge to me. Based
on this experience I would recommend them to anyone." - DM 06/04
"After 3 years of procrastination and visiting many shops in SOCAL, I wanted
to work with my closest neighborhood dealer. That was Ventura. Craig, the
Salesman and Jan, the Sales Manager were straightforward and extremely
patient. I bought the 05 Deuce EFI. The prices were MSRP on everything - no
hidden mark-ups or forced extras - just the bike. They told me I would get
5.99% financing and within minutes it happened. No games, very efficient.
They treated me with respect and introduced me to the department managers.
I go in periodically to see the new bikes and clothes and they are always
very pleasant." - JG 10/04 |

BARGER H-D
Canoga Park, CA
|
"Barger H.-D. has one type of customer. New ones. Once
you have done business there you don't want to return to be screwed again. I
took my '95 Ultra Classic in for a 10,000 mile service. This service costs
in the neighborhood of $350-400.00. Part of the high cost for it is that
they have to remove the fairing and pull apart the front forks and repack
and adjust the neck bearings. When I paid the bill and picked up my bike I
see at the bottom of the work order where they recommend that I have the
front fork bearings repacked and adjusted, at an additional cost of $125.00.
At this point I asked the service manager why they didn't do this as part of
the 10,000 mile service as it is listed in my owners handbook as being part
of this very expensive service. He told me that in all his years as a H.-D.
wrench and service manager they had always charged an extra fee for that
service and he wasn't aware that is was part of the 10,000 mile service. I
got my handbook and pointed it out to him and asked if I had to pay 400
bucks for a lube and oil change. He begrudgingly pulled my bike back into
the shop and serviced the front forks as they should have been done in the
first place. Barger charges over MSRP for motorcycles, parts and accessories
also. Beware of Barger H-D. PS This shop is no relation to Sonny Barger." -
CH 04/03 "Poor service department. 6 weeks for an appointment.
Lots of employee turnover. Cheap owners. The United States Post Office of
Harley dealers. Worst authorized dealer in the area. " - KR 08/04
"Bought a 2005 Electra Glide Classic here. Everybody else had a big wait or
wanted a big premium (Bartell's wanted more BEFORE tax/doc than Barger
wanted out the door). They had what I wanted on the floor, gave it to me at
sticker and threw in a HD leather jacket tagged at $350 as well as about
$200 in parts and installed them free of charge. The whole crew was awesome
and really took care of me. THANK YOU Barger HD...worth the extra drive any
day." - JP 04/05 |

SANTA BARBARA H-D
Carpinteria, CA
|
"Good things to say about the Service Dept. I limped
into town with nearly flat rear tire that I had pumped full of that aerosol
sealant gook. They already had a full dance card, but found a spot for me
anyway. I appreciated it." - NT 3/00 "This dealership has the worst attitude I've ever
encountered. It borders on abusive with an overall "we don't care"
being their stock in trade. They refused to warranty an HD battery
less than six months old because it wasn't purchased from them." - DV 7/01
"Under new ownership that charges strictly MSRP (or so they say). I was
in there this weekend and saw that they were charging $3,000.00 over MSRP on
the 2 V-Rods that they have on the floor. It seems like the entire
staff has a great attitude. The sales staff went out of
their way to make sure that I was taken care of. I was told by one guy that
the new service manager is "the only guy I'll let touch my bike." - TM 07/02
"I had a great experience with this dealership. My bike broke down while on
a trip this summer. They stayed open late to get me (on my tow-truck) in and
had me on the road by noon the next day. The service manager was great,
suggested motels in the area, helped me call a cab etc. Everyone I dealt
with had a great attitude. I was very pleased." - JK 08/02
"Outstanding dealership! Though I was unable to locate the exact bike I
wanted (mea culpa - as I waited too late in the 2003 model year for my Gold
Key 2003 FLSTFI Silver/Blk Fatboy), the entire sales, parts, motorclothes
and service staff treats me as a valued customer. We've been to H-D
dealerships around the world & this location is in the top 1% worldwide!
Owner and Sales Manager are building a world-class, "experiential"
dealership and it continues to show in their attention to service, service &
more service. As icing on the cake, the dealership is a great Corporate
Citizen as evidenced by their extensive support of community activities,
e.g. an annual Toys-for-Tots ride that has grown every year. Trust me,
this dealership is what H-D is all about. I'd do business here even if I
lived out-of-state!" - SS 12/03 |
HALL'S H-D
Chico, CA

|
"Last summer went to a local dealer to
replace tappets and cam. My bike was returned with air intake leak, new
center stand was put on and bolt was not tightened and it flew off and hit
my pipe and flew rearward down the road. Other problems and requests for
service work I specifically requested were not performed! I called Chico
Dealership and Jeff in the service dept. took me in the same day and fixed
my bike. Chico has performed other service and warranty work without flaw.
Thanks to Erin (female) in the service dept, Randy (female) in Parts, and
Lance the mechanic who is very detail oriented . I drive from Redding to
Chico approx 60 miles for the excellent customer service." - JH 5/00
"I purchased my new O2 Ultra from Hall's. I found them
a pleasure to deal with. All the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Salesman was very good to work with. They have a good service and parts
dept. with the same friendly staff. I continue to use them. I get phone
calls from them just to check in an see how I am enjoying my bike. I have
spoken to other people and they have the same opinion of them, very friendly
and helpful. Its like coming home when you go in. Good selection of motor
clothes and accessories. I've sent letters to MOCO about them. If more
businesses, any business, treated customers like they do, they would have
many satisfied customers and no need to handle complaints. I highly
recommend them." - TB 12/03

SOUTH COAST H-D
Chula Vista, CA
|
"While others told me to buy from the floor, South Coast
H-D said, order it any way you like and we'll advise of the delivery date.
Salesman REALLY WORKED WITH ME and gave advice like a brother, not a
salesman. Provided demo bikes to make the right choice first. Gave me
clear out-the-door pricing breakdown. I posted a $1000
non-refundable deposit (good on any bike from them any time) and waited.
One-month delayed shipment was two weeks early. Parts verified accessory
list in advance, service installed 95" Stage II, aftermarket slip-ons,
without incident. Service Dept. appears top-notch and does careful work.
Received free one-year local HOG membership and 2 T-shirts. Other San
Diego County dealers wanted $ 2000 - $3000 over MSRP. Paid $ 750.00
over MSRP at SCHD with free exhaust installation and free minor accessories
for the inconvenience of missing parts from order list. 10%
discount given UP-FRONT after the sale in lieu of HOG meeting attendance.
I'll go the extra distance to give SCHD my business! " - CR 3/01 "Out
of all the dealers in the San Diego area, I feel this one is the best. Their
prices are competitive. They ordered me the bike I wanted and I only had to
put a $500 deposit on it. Every time I go into this store, I'm promptly
greeted with a smile and asked if I need any help. I can go into most of
the other area dealers and spend a half-hour without even being talked to.
SCHD ordered me the helmet I wanted since the size I need wasn't in stock.
Now, I'm just waiting for the bike to get in. I ordered my XL883C in Jan
and it should be here this month. They are out of my way, but the excellent
service has made me a loyal customer." - RK 03/02 "I purchased My
2000 Heritage out of town. With no experience riding Harleys I heard noises
and had several questions regarding my new bike. I made an appointment for
South Coast HD to look the bike over. The service I received could not have
been better. The service writer at South Coast HD, greeted me and walked
out to talk to me about my bike. After answering all my questions he took
my Softail for a ride. When he returned he told me all's well. All he
asked was that I return for my scheduled service. No problem." - MB 03/03 |
GOLDEN GATE H-D
Corte Madera, CA
|
"Moved from San Rafael to two shops in Corte Madera and
Sausalito. Sausalito just sells clothes and stuff. Corte Madera a
smallish shop, some new bikes on floor w/complete price breakdown
indicates MSRP, no add-ons required, and sell out of area okay.
Business-like. Friendly parts guy had some inside low-down on new pipes
for 2000 softies." - JS 10/99 "Had a lock washer come loose that held
the starter gear into the primary. The mechanic (Joe?) stayed late on a
Saturday to make sure we could get the bike out because they were closed
for the next 2 days. Treated my wife and I very well while we waited, and
were generally just good people unlike Dudley Perkins (that's another
story)." - MC 3/00
"Had a great experience buying my first Harley at GGH-D. First day, I sat
on a Softail standard and when I asked about a Sportster, salesman 1
showed me a few of them, taking the time to answer all my questions. He
also mentioned they would take $410 off the out the door price ($10,900
for a XL1200c) and I would have $750 shopping spree in their store the day
I picked up the bike. Second time in there, I met salesman 2 and he also
took time with me on the Softail and the sportster and also mentioned the
special they had. Third time in there, couldn't find any salesmen right
away. Walked over to a customer and a parts guy (used to be salesman).
They were talking about Sportsters and I joined in on the conversation. He
was answering all the questions we had about the bikes. Must have spent 30
to 40 minutes just talking. Had a great time; no sales pitch or anything
like that. I went ahead and put some money down and started on my $750
shopping spree. One of the parts guys came over and helped me with the
selection of jackets and helmets. Fourth time in there I picked up my bike
and salesman 1 was right there to go over the bike with me. All in all I
met 3 salesmen, 3 parts guys and 2 service mechanics and all were friendly
as hell." - LF 03/02
"Purchased my 2003 softail for MSRP and no set up fee and
15% off of all harley accessories. My only complaint was that they tried
to soak me for labor to install those accessories I wanted. I intended to
spend over $2000.00 on parts and they wanted to charge me almost $1200.00
in labor. I bought the parts elsewhere and installed them myself." - SR

"This is an authorized Dealership with a hometown
attitude. They have always treated me as a friend, called me by name, and
been honest with opinions and recommendations. Even as I was getting to know
the workings of my bike, all my questions were answered without an ounce of
attitude. They recently installed an aftermarket cam ( Andrews ) in my bike
in a timely manner and under estimated cost. I love these guys." - RW 04/02
"Best dealership in town! I bought my '03 Ultra at MSRP.
The motorcycle salespeople are very kind and helpful. The Parts/Clothes

beat!" - AB 09/03 |
REDWOOD H-D

"During the summer of 1999, I rode my 1997 FXDL from
Louisville, KY to west coast and back to Louisville. While traveling down
Hwy 101, I decided to stay in Eureka for the night. Early the next morning
(a weekday), I decided to stop into the Eureka H-D dealership to let them
check my bike out. All I can say is that everyone of them was extremely
friendly and checked my bike over very thoroughly and quickly. I was back
on the road in a couple of hours. What else is there to say!" - JN 3/00
"My wife and I were on a trip on our new Dyna FXD. This is the first
motorcycle I had ever ridded except for the Motorcycle safety course.
During this first multi-day ride we had the misfortune of dropping the
bike while making a slow speed U-turn (very embarrassing). Needless to
say I broke off the clutch handle ( I still had a couple of inches to use
to shift). The great people at Redwood HD sold me a new handle the also
installed it at no charge. Wife also wanted some of their T-shirts that
they were out of stock on. They mailed them to us when they came in at no
additional charge. I would highly recommend these wonderful people they
really go out of their way for travelers." - JS 01/02
"Purchased 2 bikes, 02 Softail and 04 Ultra-Classic. Sold at MRSP and the
service was good. Only drawback is a small dealership with not much floor
stock. No complaints and good people." - DW 01/04 |

FOLSOM H-D
Folsom, CA, 95630
|
"Owner (I think he was) was a real nice guy. Shop is boutique style with
maybe a dozen bikes, a little on the small side, but brand new and in a
new shopping center with Century movie megaplex and other shops and
stuff. MSRP, no strings, but no sales out of the area. Seems to be
affiliated with the Rocklin (CA) shop." - JS 9/99
"I purchase my bike from them new on August of 2001. And while I will
still shop their for parts, their Service Department will never touch my
bike. Sales Dept very nice, good people. I have had all my services done
by Folsom HD, but on my last service my bike ran like crap. I took it back
and they said park it and they would get to it. When I went to pick it up
it was right where I parked it. I was told they found nothing wrong and
their guy had it and rode it all over. As I left the parking lot my bike
spit and sputtered all the way to a Independent Motorcycle Shop. While it
was there they found many thing wrong and couldn’t believe I just had a
10K Service. They have a big new building and I hope they can attract
better people for their shop, but… In the future I will go to Sacramento
H-D, I just wished I didn’t have to wait so long to get in to their shop."
- TS 01/02 "I purchased a new 2004 Sportster at MSRP however it turned out to have a
unfixable electrical problem. The dealer was great at every step and even
gave me a brand new 2004 Sportster loner to ride. After 6 weeks of
diagnosis, they decided that they would replace my bike with a brand new
one. The salesman, mechanic, owner and the factory customer service reps
have all been fantastic. I highly recommend Folsom and Rocklin HD." - BF

H-D OF FREMONT
Fremont, CA, 94538
|
"I just put down $1000 on a '00 FLSTC at Fremont. apparently they still
charge MSRP only... why Fremont? I just happened in today and they had
just the bike and colors (black and "chrome" yellow) I was looking for
scheduled to arrive this phase, maybe this week. and no one had put a
hold on it yet. unbelievable luck." - JS 8/99 "I recently purchased a
2000 Road King Classic from Fremont Cycle Center for MSRP. Not only did I
get the bike that I wanted for MSRP but I bought it right off the showroom
floor. I began calling shops in the area on Monday, Jan. 17th. and began
inquiring about the wait for a 2000 FLHRCI in green or black. The sales
guys in Fremont ask me where I lived (they don't sell out of area) and
then told me that they have one on the floor ready to go. I immediately
went down and ask for a price breakdown. They charge standard fees for
everything including shipping. The only area that they might be a little
high is the dealer setup charge of $866 but I was willing to live with a
little markup in that area. I arranged for payment (they would only accept
a cashiers check) and picked up my bike 2 days later. I was a little
disappointed when they would not give me any kind of discount on any parts
I purchased on the day of sale nor do they give HOG discounts for future
purchases. They did give me a T-shirt of their choosing however. The
salesman didn't have to sell me, I knew exactly what I wanted and I was
lucky enough to find it on the floor at Fremont Cycle Center. Despite the
lack of discounts I would do business with them again." - BP 1/00
"I bought a 95 Sportster 1200 xlh a few months back and every one there
from the sales man to the lady who helped with the finance hell even the
lady who helped me with the helmet were so helpful I could believe it.
I've been back many times and they all remember e and the bike I bought.
they always want to see what else I have done to it. I bought a chrome
gauge housing for my sportster from peninsula Harley in redwood city on
the recent open house and after it being on my bike for about a month I
was riding and I looked down to see it had broken in two places and after
I brought it up there to show them the manager told me "well it is a
sportster and they vibrate a lot". the way I look at it they are made for
a sportster and that's no excuse .one thing I will say for them is that
the techs there are very helpful when I wanted to change my grips I asked
one if it was something I could do he said follow directions in the owners
manual and if I had a problem give him a call then gave me his cell number
I didn't have to call but it was nice to be able to if I needed." - JP

"2001 Screamin' Eagle Road Glide, 71K+ miles. Battery finally died in
parking lot at special event (Lots (over 500) of people) at dealership.
Service department got bike into service area, stripped off tour pack &
seat, changed battery, tested stator, replaced seat & tour pack and I was
on my way within one hour. They did this on weekend between the scheduled
work in shop. Great service." - PP 11/03

"Walked in and bought a new FLHR at MSRP with no wait. Just came off the
truck...original buyer backed out. No markup above MSRP, and no required
"extras". Even gave me a break on some add-ons I wanted. Very friendly
staff...great parts/service/sales people." - DP 8/99 "Purchased a FLHRCI two months ago, 6 month wait. $500 deposit,
refundable. Dealer sells only to locals, Small markup over MSRP, basically
a prep charge. Was treated very well, everything went down just as
they said it would, no surprises. Will definitely get my next bike
from them." - DW 5/01 "Visited medium-sized shop 9/25/01. Talked
to accessories and parts folks, no salesman to talk to but floor models
appear to be close to MSRP. Shop rate $63/hr. Store expanding
to "three times" its size in next few weeks and just down the street.
Saw new facility and it looks large." - JS 10/01 |

area. About a dozen beautiful old (knucks, etc.) bikes on the floor
(not for sale), some set up for hill climb and racing. Shop rate
$60/hr. Great impression" - JS 10/01 |

notch, honest, friendly, helpful and experienced personnel. Service

"Glendale HD is in a small little building, but they're a
good bunch. They sell at MSRP, but won't sell out of the area. Their
service dept. is straight-up, and they're prompt. They even wash your
bike if you get more than an oil change done. The parts guys are patient
and friendly, and they're willing to help you out and look numbers and
such up if you forget a part number. They have a small sales floor, but if
you want a particular bike, they may have it stashed in one of their
warehouses, or you put down a $500 deposit on their waiting list. They're
professional without being arrogant, which is a rare thing in Southern
CA." - SF 1/00
"I have been to dealers in many states and these guys are by far the best
in both sales and service. I have bought three bikes here in the last
four years, all as promised and at MSRP. Sales manager is terrific. No
appointment needed for service and I have never had a problem with any
service performed here. Owner is involved in community service.
Everyone is pleasant and helpful. You could not ask for anything more." -
GW 06/02 "I have been a customer here for almost fifteen years. Four bikes I have
purchased have all been at MSRP. Service has been flawless. Home of
The Love Ride and I get treated like a VIP. Owner is involved with
community service. Could not be better." - GW 12/03 "I was
looking for an 05. Glendale had what I wanted coming in a few weeks. The
salesman told me they sold at MSRP and gave me an out-the-door price which
seemed agreeable. I placed a deposit on the bike. After crunching some
numbers I noticed an almost $600 overcharge. When I called to inquire, I
was told they charge $585 dealer set up. I went to another dealer who
offered the bike five hundred less than Glendale. I called the salesman
at Glendale and told him about the other dealers offer. His immediate
response was, "Do you want a refund?" I said no, I thought you could
match the price. The salesman told me he was unable. When I went in to
Glendale to get my refund; another salesman had the same attitude. Hey,
cant match the price, so here is your refund. BTW the salesman told me
their set up was an extensive 3-4hr process, involving all kinds of safety
checks and a ten mile mechanic check ride. The salesman also said they
were authorized by the factory to charge that amount on set-up.
Glendale's normal labor rate is $70 an hour. At that rate the set-up
should take over 8 hours, not 3-4. I wrote a letter to complaint to the
owner of the dealership. He had the salesman call me to apologize. Again
no attempt to deal or build a customer. Instead he wanted to know which
dealer was getting my business. I know Glendale is a huge dealership with
good reputation. But they really dropped the ball on this one." - JC 10/04 |

"I received the best service I have ever gotten as a consumer at
California H-D. During the past few months, I've walked into numerous
dealers in the southern California area and never felt comfortable in any
of them. Either I didn't look like a biker or I didn't have my check book
out, ready to buy (who knows) the customer service at most of the dealers
I went to in the So. Cal. area sucked - especially Bartel's in Marina Del
Ray. From the minute I walked into California Harley though, the sales
guys made me feel comfortable sitting on the bikes and just hanging out
while I drooled over the HOGS. Barry Wilson (who sold me my 2000 FLSTS -
Heritage Springer) took the time to speak with me each time I came into
the dealership and treated me more like a friend than a salesman. I would
give California Harley and Barry perfect five-star ratings for customer
service and would recommend them to any of you that live in the south bay
area of California." - TA 3/00

was under warrantee and they still would not help me in any way.. I had to

ORANGE CO. H-D

"I recently bought a new Fat Boy at Orange County H-D. Markup was about
$1000 above MSRP, with a small markup on the chrome forks and custom
paint. Also charged $600 for freight, dealer prep, etc. Seems a little
high. The sales staff was polite, but would not budge down from the price
marked. They have about 10-12 new bikes, and also a few Buells on the
floor. Usually the Fat Boys have "sold" stickers on them, I got lucky and
found what I wanted when I wanted it. Lots of parts, clothes, etc. in
stock as well as a good selection of used bikes." - PA 6/01
"I have always gotten good service from this dealer. Bought bike there in
01. Got a good deal, no pressure, straight shooters. Salesman still
remembers me.
The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. All service has been timely and
well done. After service bikes are washed. At about 3,000 miles developed
an outer primary cover oil weep. Stopped in on a Saturday to set up an
appointment to have it fixed under warranty. Service Manager said if I
could stick around for an hour and a half he would see the guys could get
it done before they went on lunch break. Done in an hour, no questions
asked 7,000 miles later no weep. Same shop did my Stage 1 and installed SE
IIs and air cleaner. Parts and Service coordinated everything to make sure
parts were on hand when service was scheduled. Runs great, didn't have to
touch anything. SE IIs were a little louder than I wanted so after a
couple of months I stopped in and asked the Service Manager if he thought
SE Slip Fit Torque mufflers would be any quieter. He went in back to get
some opinions from the guys in the shop and told me in their opinion the
difference was not worth the $250 the mufflers would cost. A lot of places
would have taken my money and run. The Parts Counter people are
knowledgeable and easy to deal with. The clothing part of the store has a
lot of good selections and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I
always get a card at Christmas and on my bikes birthday. Not reminding me
to buy something just to say Merry Christmas, Happy Anniversary, hope you
are enjoying the ride and thanks for the business. These guys work for
your business and they will continue to get mine." - JE 05/03
"Excellent sales experience - price was MSRP +$500... salesman went out of
his way to ensure we were happy. Always friendly and remember us when we
go to the store, even get the famous cards for thank-you etc.. Service
dept. (which is currently understaffed) needs help - they messed up a
detachable plate install and generally don't seem to care. Will get
serviced elsewhere in future... until they improve." - VW 06/04 |

"We are a small store with a small allotment of motorcycles. We prefer
to sell to our local area but make allowances on Peace Officer Special
Motorcycles and sell our consignment bikes openly. We provide Parts,
Sales and Service Tues-Sat 9-6. Parts and Sales on Sunday 10-5 all year.
We are open Mondays with Service available Sun/Mon April thru November.
We close for the holidays between Christmas and New Years. We work hard to
provide a pleasing atmosphere and outstanding customer service. We also
offer a motorcycle theme guest room for those who wish visit for an
extended stay and enjoy the areas riding, fine restaurants and antique
shops." - Jamestown H-D 11/99
"Watch out for these guys. The took in the bike for wreck repairs.
Refused to order parts till insurance had paid for them in advance. It
took three summer months to get bike back out of their shop. They would
put bike on back burner to work on a locals bike first. We found many
parts had been replaced with Taiwan parts. Beware!" - CH 1/00
"While on a trip from Ventura to Reno my shovelhead broke down, they
took me right in on a Saturday, replaced my stator, tightened some loose
nuts, thoroughly checked out my bike, gave me a HOG discount on parts, and
had me back on the road in 4 hours." - B 1/00
"My friend had the misfortune of having a wreck just north of Sonora,
CA. We called Jamestown H.-D. to pick up the bike. They promptly gave us
the estimate. We told them to go as insurance would pay for everything.
They then refused to put a wrench to the bike until the insurance money
was in their hands in advance. Once they had the cash they then ordered
the parts. Once the parts came in they started work. But the bike was put
on the back burner every time a local needed something. The bike sat for
weeks while they prepared all the local bikes for Sturgis. I guess
they felt she didn't need to go to Sturgis. Four long months and $5,000.00
later upon getting the bike back on home ground we found many Aftermarket
and Eagle Iron parts had been used in place of original parts. Bottom line
here is watch your back at Jamestown, CA H.-D. They only care for locals
and their own wallet." - CH 5/01
"Visited medium-sized shop 9/22/01. Shop rate $60/hr. No
one to talk to about sales, but prices on floor models looked not
out-of-line, whatever that means. In business 5 years and growing.
Worth a visit just for the surrounding area (Sierra Gold Country)." - JS
10/01
"The service center as well as the sales dept.& staff have been good to
me and my friends when ever we ride up there from the Bay area. They did a
lot of chrome for me and when there was a problem they corrected it. The
Putt is also worth the trip up there!!" - DB 01/02
"After having an accident on Hwy49 the bike was taken to Jamestown, CA H-D
for repair. I was told it would take six weeks to repair the damage as I
had requested factory painted parts. I said this was no problem. Four
weeks later I inquire as to the progress on the bike. They tell me that
all of the parts are ready to be ordered, but they will not order the
parts until they are paid for in advance. I remind them that this is an
insurance claim and to contact the Ins Co. Begrudgingly they do so. Weeks
go by and no progress is noticed on the bike. They say the MoCo shipped
them the wrong parts. I know the MoCo only ships you the parts you order.
Weeks later the parts have arrived. I was told the bike had to wait as
their regular customers needed service to go to "The Love Ride". Maybe
they never thought this bike wanted to go too. Three and a half months
later the bike is done. Only upon inspection it is found that many damaged
parts were replaced with Taiwan stuff. Add to this that they refused to
return the parts that were replaced. Beware of Jamestown H-D." - CH 11/03
"Excellent to deal with. Bought a used 1200 Sportster in 01/04 and had an
off brand trade. The sales manager gave me a good price for my trade
along with a good price on the HD. I have talked with other people in my
area that have also dealt with them and have had nothing but great
experiences. They also sell for MSRP and do not inflate the freight and
setup fees. I would refer anyone to them." - RG 04/04 |

"I went to Lancaster HD because I heard they sold for
MSRP. At the door, I was greeted by a fellow who assured me they did indeed
sell at MSRP. I was in my work construction clothes, and have long hair and
many tattoos, so I was expecting the bums rush. The fellow was extremely
courteous and gave me his full attention. Eventually, he showed me a new
FLHRCI in the mechanic's bay which was exactly what I wanted. I told him I
wanted it and he put me with a gal who wrote it up. When I came to pick it
up, I was given the full red carpet treatment by his finance manager who
spent the better part of the morning going over the bike with me and
introducing me to the mechanics and service people. After awhile I found out
that the easy going regular kind of guy who had sold me the bike was the
owner! Lancaster HD; straight talk from straight people; rock bottom prices
and excellent service. Being cordial is their stock in trade." - JA 12/02
"After being discouraged by the local dealers that flat
out told me that they wont deal, I found Lancaster Harley. They were
friendly and they sold me my Fatboy at MSRP. I didn't even have to ask. They
had the prices right on the bike showing all the costs. Unlike the other
dealers that wanted 2000 dollars or more over MSRP and had their prices
hidden. Even though Lancaster is almost 80 miles away from where I live, I
will go out of my way to make sure they get all my business from now on." -

LIVERMORE H-D
Livermore, CA, 94550
|
"I recently had an incredibly bad parts and service experience with
Livermore H-D. I made the mistake of switching loyalty from the shop I had
been satisfied with to the one that was closer. The dealership has changed
hands from Dron to San Jose and the scuttlebutt is that Dron was only
there for speculative purposes anyway and intended to turn it over right
away. Maybe I got caught in the exchange but they had a real F-the
customer attitude. I came close to bringing them to court but decided the
courts were full enough. Since then I've taken great joy in
escorting 5 of my buds to 2 other dealerships for new rides and
bought a new one myself. Sent a copy of the Bill of Sale to the GM.
Since they sell all they get they probably don't give a two swipes. They
get no business from me (parts, service, accessories). Take your chances."

"I was out in CA on a business trip, and decided I would try the fly and
ride. I walked into the store and was ignored by everyone. I finally
walked over to the receptionist and asked for help. After 15 minutes of
waiting, I finally was motioned to the guy who was "in charge." He told
me that they only rented touring bikes for the fly and ride and that it
would be $220 to rent a FXDL for 1 day, plus, there was a $10 fee to rent
a helmet!!! I was amazed! Does anybody really pay this much to rent a
bike there? Being as I was there for a few weeks, I asked if they had any
dinner rides scheduled, and was told " I don't know " I could not believe
it, these people are not like any Harley people I have ever encountered
and I was extremely disappointed. The weather where I live is just awful,
and I was really looking forward to taking a bike and going down the PCH
for the day. There was no way that I would have let these stealers have
any money from me to rent one of their bikes...or a helmet, for that
matter...heck, I live in a state that doesn't even have a helmet law, and
the dealerships still include one in the $119 a day rental, ( a rain suit,
too!!!) I truly feel bad for those people who have to deal with a group
like this for their Harley needs, had I had to work with a dealership like
this, I probably would not have the two bikes that I have now... what a
shame." - SF 02/03 |

BARTELS H-D

"Bartels' lately has been selling their bikes between
$1500 and $2000 over MSRP. Some are loaded down with chrome yuppie crap,
some not. They sometimes add on a "service plan" that is OK, but it's
probably cheaper to just go in for such servicing on one's own. They have
quite a few bikes on the floor, probably as a result of being so damned
expensive. They used to have a good bunch of parts guys, but the real good
ones have left. Same with the mechanics. My husband had the oil drain plug
on his bike stripped out, and replaced with an over-sized plug from an auto
parts store. The thing is, he *wasn't* told about this, he discovered it on
his own later. They've also scraped up the gas tank on my bike, as well as
scraped up my speedometer. Unfortunately, since the bike is black, I didn't
catch these things until I rolled out of the shop, so there'd be no way for
me to prove it was them. " - SF 1/00 "Been riding my '90 bagger from Sonoma to LA once a month
since the beginning of the year. Bike's got 115,000 on the odometer,
so once in a while things will loosen up or wear out. On the last two
trips down there I had to replace minor stuff, mounting studs on the
passenger backrest and heel shifter lever. On both occasions I went
into Bartel's, as it is only about 20 minutes from my girlfriend's place.
Each time I called ahead to make sure parts were in stock. The parts
counter guys were always right on the money, friendly, and I paid strict
MSRP on the parts. On the last visit I complimented the parts manager,
and he intro'd me to the store manager who I also complimented. I left
via the service department where I asked the service manager to have a
wrench monkey break loose the shifter peg from my old lever so I could put
it on my new lever. Instead, he returns with a brand new shifter peg
on the house. These guys don't know me from Adam, I'm just an
outta-towner who's stopped in for some nickel & dime parts. Good
folks. The facility is of the latest H-D corporate boutique design,
but the best part is they're two for two in parts for old baggers (The
scoot, not the scooter tramp, I mean). Bartel's also offers up Buell
test rides each Saturday with, fittingly, complimentary hot dogs in the
parking lot." - JS 10/01
"Bartels is a pleasure to visit, the
employees are very nice and informed. They have always had every part that I
needed in stock and knew what I wanted without me having to show them in the
manual. Their service is very professional and the mechanics all seem to be
very reputable also. Their shop is nice to browse through and I would feel
comfortable recommending them for any motorcycle needs a Harley-Buell owner
would have. I have never purchased a bike from them but I have rented from
the on-site rental company and they too are a pleasure to deal with. There
is nothing to say about Bartels that is not positive and I have had nothing
but good experiences with them. I am glad that there are H-D Dealers around
like them." - GD 06/02 "I stopped at Bartels while on my vacation. I
was very pleased with the reception they gave me (a complete stranger to
them). Everyone there was nice and helpful. I believe they genuinely wanted
to help me with whatever I needed. Harley needs more dealers like them. I
didn't get a chance to look at the bike prices but would probably deal with
them regardless." - RM 07/02 "I requested information on a
2003 Road King Classic two-tone silver from
their web site. I received a call from a salesman today that they had one
available. It included the 2003 Road King Classic two-tone silver, security
alarm, Gold Key package, and dealer installed extra chrome accessories (no
details). $23,750 BEFORE Tax & Lic !!! Stealer?" - DM 06/03 "HD shop - No BUELLS! I live in Nor Cal 300 miles away.
I have a 97 Tuber. Bald Tire cord showing, and starting to bubble, metal on
metal brakes. Comment from the parts guy "We don't work on 'em, but we'll
see what we can do." The tire guy was a little more chatty. "Hey this tire
is worn out on the sides too!" Then he proceeds to have a tire viewing
asking others to come lookee. They had the tire but no pads. The computer
told 'em they had pads - computer lied. (I took off, knowing I had to
replace them soon) Tire took awhile approx 2 hours. Approx $275 total out
the door. Now this was Friday after noon at around 3:15 pm. Overall I was
impressed. I now never try to stretch one more ride out of brakes and tires
- especially if it is a 700 mile trip." - JL 06/05 |

MODESTO BUELL SHOP

I'm buying a 2000 FLSTC from Mitchell's H-D. Price is MSRP. Their set-up
charge is $195. The only "overcharge" is in the freight. They are
charging $545 instead of $205. But given the fact some dealers charge a
lot more for set-up I figure that's not too bad. Delivery is expected in
Jan-Feb. All new bikes on the floor are spoken for, except a couple of
demos." - MH 8/99
"I rode 90 miles from San Jose and bought a Buell from the new stand-alone

"We have recently moved to a new location at 8710
Central Avenue in Montclair, one-half mile north of the 10 Freeway. Our
new telephone number is (909) 981-9500. Our toll-free number is still
(888) HARLEY8 or (888) 427-5398. We have changed our business hours, as
well. We are now open six days a week, closed on Mondays. Tuesdays through
Fridays we are open from 9 am to 8 pm and Saturdays and Sundays we are
open 9 am to 6 pm. We are now Buell dealers and we also carry Whizzer
motorbikes. Our new and used motorcycle prices are very competitive. Our
new 26,500 square foot dealership includes a state of the art dynamometer
and we are one of very few dealerships nationwide qualified to install and
calibrate Power commanders." - PV H-D 3/00
"Within the last 2 years, sold one bike on consignment there and
purchased two other new ones. Wanted to purchase a 2002 FXDL for the
girlfriend. This dealership wanted $2400 over MSRP. When
confronted with fact that other dealerships in the area would sell at
MSRP, sales staff agreed to sell at MSRP. Told them we were selling
the Sportster ourselves on a Saturday and were getting a cashier's check
for the amount. Wanted to put the cashier's check as a down payment
on the FXDL. Wouldn't take a cashier's check made out to me as down
payment. Went to Bartel's in Marina del Ray on Sunday.
Purchased the FXDL at MSRP, with same financing as offered by P/V and
Bartel's took the cashier's check. The Saturday when I was in there
I was picking up my 2000 FLHTC after an expensive service (10000 mile
service, new rear tire, rear brakes, misc. parts), nearly $900.
Seems like I should have received a lot more consideration for the money
I'd already spent there. Dealership is very much a boutique looking
place. Lots of activity. Sponsors lots of events. Staff
is usually friendly." - JS 11/01
"Purchased my '03 Heritage from the salesman on a Monday. Tuesday I walked
in to purchase some aftermarket accessories. The salesman acted like I
didn't just spend $21k in the store (even a year later I'm still ignored).
Not that big a deal, but it would be nice to at least be acknowledged.
Parts and Service departments are top-notch! Sales dept. leaves a lot to
be desired." - SS 05/04 |

"My dealings with Simi Valley HD have been great. Staff,
from the owner, to parts, to sales, to service has been a real pleasure.
They have treated me as a valued customer and made my purchase an enjoyable

had available. I found a couple bikes that I was interested in but all
salespersons were busy. I left and came back a couple days later, same
thing. I finally asked for assistance. I am not fond of pushy salespeople,
guess I got my wish. Actually purchasing the bike was a great experience.
No BS or false promises. The hardest part for me was to figure out what
color bike I wanted. The staff has been great during every visit to the
store. I had a small problem when I picked up my bike, but the service
people were all over it and I was on my way in no time. I highly recommend
Simi Valley H-D and would buy from them again." - SH 07/05 |

"Bought my Y2K 1200S there and had nothing but
trouble since. Went in on a zero down program and then got this story after
taking the bike home that the program had been cancelled, unbeknownst to the
salesman, and that I needed to fork over $500 in addition to the payment
contract. Submitted half up front but got suspicious of salesman's
intentions. About six months later, after trying innumerable times to find
the owner's name and addy, I finally sent the other half, along w/ list of
complaints. He sent back all $500, but covered his sales staff. Service
staff suck: extremely rude, manipulative, and not all that knowledgeable in
my book. Won't spend a dime there again if I can avoid it. I know of several
others that detest this place as well. I go out of my way to Yucca Valley to
not patronize this place!" - CP 10/01 "Sales experience was ok - price was MSRP but no big
negatives, no big positives, except to say they are VERY slow at submitting
the DMV papers and still (almost 3 months later) don't have HOG membership
stuff." - VW 06/04 |

"Talked to sales guy at Dron's, said they sell @ MSRP
and gave me a detailed listing (table) of price breakdown for all models.
Their 2000 FLSTC (H-D MSRP $15,995) base is something like $16.8K, which
includes CA emissions ($290). A little high, maybe it includes two-tone
paint, which would be about right, but I forgot to ask. Interesting
add-on: if you're out of the area, they require you purchase the full
7-year extended service plan ($1334). Shop rate is $75/hr. Several
interesting customs, 3 Titan Sidewinders for sale. Friendly folks." -JS
9/99
"I had the worst experience with their service and sales departments.
The sales guy continually lied to me about the options on a FXWG to
explain the $3000 markup. (It had a set of SE slip-ons on, and yellow
paint), and the service dept literally destroyed my CV on the Sportster.
When I went to pick it up, it was pouring out gas. Their reaction ?
"Better ride home fast before you run out of gas or catch fire" I had to
buy a whole new carb. I'd never recommend them for anything." - GH 1/00
"I bought my first new Harley in 1985 from Oakland HD and just got my
second, a 2001 FXST at MSRP, so I have been dealing with them for 16
years, their prices are not cheap but are competitive. I have been
satisfied with the service dept. Their personnel are always friendly
(parts, service, and sales). They have 3 or 4 salesmen on the floor
and the owner does not act a salesperson." - DC 8/01
"IMO, this dealer's parts and sales departments were about two giant
steps below worthless. The initial pre-sales experience was so bad, after
I made my deposit, I racked up about $200.00 trying to find another dealer
in CA, NV, or OR that had a black or ice 1200S in stock (Would have paid
more), but no luck. The actual sales experience was even worse (Probably
because they new I hated being in their presence). The service department
however, was great." - MC 8/01
"I live in the Bay Area, a region notorious for gouging. Last fall I
visited my closest local dealer (Bob Drone, Oakland CA) about the V-Rod.
With a smirk they informed me that I could place a bid when the first
bikes arrived. With an MSRP of $17K, their first three bikes sold at over
10K above list. They called me each time one landed and tried to reason
with me that they would prefer to sell to a local rather than someone from
out of the region. I asked them how they sleep at night? They replied:
"Very well, since the LA dealers are charging over 30K!" - RH 02/02
"Went to Bob Dron's this weekend. It seems he is now selling all bikes
at over MSRP. The Softail classics were all $2,500 to $3,000 over MSRP..
He had a V- rod for $10,000 over MSRP. A friend bought a FLTR and went to
their storage area and said there were at least a 100 bikes there. I bet
a lot of people are waiting for the 100th anniversary to buy." - RP 02/02
"I found my used bike at Bob Dron on the sales floor. It was overpriced
and I asked the sales guy if he would consider giving me a discount if I
pay for the whole thing in cash. HE replied that if I do not like the
price, someone else will get it within hours. I paid for the bike, the
extended warranty and bought all the gear for me and my wife, spending
over $27,000, all paid in one move. They did not even give me a T-shirt as
a thank you gift! I did all this during a dark time in my life, and now
that I am sober, I will spend my money somewhere else." - LI 06/02

"According to well known motorcycle publication, this dealer sells new
Harleys at or near MSRP"
"We offer a local HOG Discount to members that went to
the last Oceanside HOG meeting. We are open 7 days a week. We also offer a
program called HAP where customers are issued a punch card and when its
filled ($1000.) we mail the customer a $100. gift certificate" - Harley's
House of Harleys 10/99
"Good parts and service, They are friendly and attentive. Didn't buy
my '00 1200s there, they weren't stocking them at the time. They do my
warranty work. Service guy gave me some fender bolts as I left when they
replaced the rocker gaskets, because he noticed I needed a couple as I was
leaving at closing time. The cards they give out yielding $100 in free
parts per $1000 spent are a good deal. They send you $100 'rebate' cards,
and you can put more than one of these together on the same purchase. I
bought my heated gear with 2 of them and some cash." - RC 4/00
"Without a doubt, this dealer has the friendliest staff. They
have a 10% rebate program called HAP. For every $40.00 you spend
(before taxes) they sign off on a card, when you fill it up ($1,000.00)
they send you a $100 gift certificate. The dealership's HOG chapter
members get a double dip. They get a card when they attend the
monthly meeting getting them an additional 10% up front, service
department included. Special orders, no problem- second day air.
Bike prices are close to or better than most dealers-XLs are MSRP.
All bikes FCFS-$1000.00 refundable deposits." - MM 3/01
"They have the friendliest staff. Their 10% rebate, and 10% HOG
discount is the best in the area. However, when I had my bike in for
the 1K service, the Service Manager specifically told me that the 10% HOG
discount is NOT good for service. I still drive out of my way to
patronize this dealer. Big Twins are $1k-$2k over MSRP." - MR 8/01
"Bought a bike at MSRP which was great , service dept should be avoided
at all cost!!" - PH 08/02
"Other commenters must be at a different shop than I'm going to! All
bikes (except Sportys) are 3 to 5 thou over MSRP. Special orders are "10
working days" and after you purchase a bike it you may not see your plates
and DMV papers for months ,literally. (Input from several buyers too} .
Service; quoted "4 hour" re-spoke job" took 3 and 1/2 DAYS, tech burned
clutch plates on Classic "to warm-up engine fast", I've redone 2 1000 mile
services for friends because they were not complete ie; chain not
adjusted, oil leaks etc. Bikes come back oily and water spotted . Actually
had a rear tire installed and only half of it was washed leaving a green
wall/white wall. Prices are 10% over all other area dealers (hence their
"HAP program breaks even). Friendly staff in motorclothes but beyond that
a very big "watch out". There have actually been people picketing out
front with signs that say "Don't buy here" .Go "far south" for the best
bike deals and go to the "big city" just south for the best parts deals.
Pick and "indy" for service beyond warranty." - EG 12/02
"Harley’s House of Harleys sells all H-D's (Except Road King) at MSRP.
This was verified with the sales manager on 6/23/03. All bikes brought in
for service are completely cleaned before being returned to the customer."
- Harley's House of Harleys 06/03
"I purchased my 02 Sportster Custom 1200 in December of 2001 at MSRP.
I have 8k on the bike since. HHH has always serviced my bike on time at
at a fair price. My concern is that they have had a very high employee
turnover (service, sales, and motorclothes) rate in the last year. They
have dropped the HAP discount (10%)on parts. Although, they still give
Oceanside HOG members a 10% discount providing that you attend HOG
meetings. Their service department is now fantastic. They are
knowledgeable and willing to take care of the customer no matter what it
takes. My name is on their first '04 Night Train. I won't even look
elsewhere." - JC 08/03

When I got to the Dealer, witch is about a 50 mile drive one way but well
worth it. I walked in and the manager took me to the service department,
when the door was opened there sat my new bike with balloons tied to it and
a piece of cake on the seat. Man what a Birthday!! The staff at this store
went way out of their way. With all the staff at the Dealership and other

Birthday I will never forget! They made me feel like I was the most
important customer they had." - LL 04/02 |

I had to get my bike's 10k (50,000 miles) maintenance check up done.
My wife got her 10K (40,000 mile) check up done on her bike. Mine only
took 4 hours. Hers about 7 1/2 hours. Don't know why.
But was treated very nice and would go back there again. (if I
still have a Harley)" - NB 7/01 "Visited 9/19/01, talked to salesman.
Nice folks, medium-large shop and selection of bikes. MSRP; don't sell out

"I purchased my Buell Pro race kit from Peninsula H-D and although they
did not seem to be very knowledgeable about Buell parts and accessories,
when they made a mistake in ordering my parts... they also made it right!
The correct parts were $200+ more than what I had been charged, and they
called it even for my inconvenience. The staff is also friendly and
helpful. San Jose and Santa Cruz could learn a lot from them." - BH
7/01
"Had my 1,000 mi work-over (2002 FLSTCI) last week here. Excellent
experience. Service writer and mechanics did a good job and acted like
I was doing them a favor. Who would have thought! A group that
appreciates customers. The parts counter was equally enjoyable, good
people. If you go there when they aren't totally swamped, they will
spend any amount of time with you. Even during the Harley open house
when it was a mob scene, they were courteous, cordial, helpful even toward
the end of what must have been a long day for them." - MS 11/01
"I just purchased my 2002 Fatboy from Peninsula H-D. The whole
experience was absolutely amazing. I called them looking for a Red
Fatboy, the Sales manager said one was coming in, quoted me a price
and with a $1k deposit, it was mine and due in around 4weeks. My new baby
arrived 1week early. I went down and met the Sales manager for the first
time. The price stayed the same, even during the signature part, which
was lower than anyone else in the bay area, didn't try to sell me
stuff I didn't need, was very honest and open with me the whole time.
I scheduled an hour with her and she spent every minute with me making
sure I understood everything. They gave my wife and I very nice shirts
as a gift. When it was all over, I felt like she was my long lost
sister. Now I know what they mean about Harley Family. I returned the next
day to pick up my new Fatboy with a box of candy for my new family to enjoy.
The whole staff at Peninsula H-D will really impress you. They
definitely know the definition of Customer Service. " - RH 03/02

"Bought an 01 FLHRI from them last year. Cost was about a
$1000 over MSRP. Big, nice showroom with lots of bikes. Good
selection. Everyone there was friendly and helpful and went out of
their way to make sure I was happy with the deal. Well stocked parts
and accessory department. Service dept. is good and the mechanics seem to
know their stuff pretty well. Their cost for maintenance service is
probably the highest of any dealer in the southern California area, though.
I did find that the sales folks were pretty straight up and honest, and do
not just try to sell you something that’s not right for you. I’d buy
from them again." - SG 8/01 |

"dealership is a large, new bldg by itself near new
shopping centers and close to I-80. MSRP, will sell to non-locals
(although their Folsom affiliate won't (?!)), and no strings. Very
friendly, esp. a pretty boutique lady. Many used bikes and prices not too
out-of-line with MCNews report. For CA anyway. " - JS 9/99
"A mixed bag. There are good things about their sales:
basically at MSRP, but no formal list. Difficult to keep a bike
order on track. They sell at MSRP but somehow on my transaction, the MSRP
was entered erroneously high until I pointed out their error. They
require additional purchases with the sale. Be certain you
understand and agree with every line item on the sales receipt. Service
has been spotty, and they were unable to accommodate my request for the 1k
service (this was *not* last minute)." - JS 10/01
"Good experience all around, Sportster at MSRP, about a month wait.
Everyone worked with me when I had questions, we also rented and got
a price break since we had to turn the bike in early (our schedule
changed)." - BM 11/01 "While my purchase experience was great, I have major problems with the
service department. Just had my 5000 service done and got home to an oil
leak and one quart low of new synthetic oil! When I asked for the $7
bucks for a quart of oil and the correct torque specs for the oil drain I
couldn't even get the service manager to call me! Bought the service
manual from another dealer and fixed the oil leak by tightening the oil
drain correctly (they left it loose). Had to try and work it through the
sales guy and he got nowhere either. I'm glad I didn't have to replace
the engine due to the negligence and deal with that through these guys!
I'm cashing out my service contract and taking my business elsewhere. The
owner obviously takes no responsibility for his people and my $30k of
business must not matter to this guy/gal. He/she also own Folsom Harley
but I think I will move my business to Sacramento or Elk Grove where I
have started buying all my other stuff and have received nothing but
outstanding service." - CF 08/05 |

"According to a well-known biker magazine, readers have sent in letters
claiming that this dealer sells bikes at or near MSRP."
"Dealership is unchanged from earlier report. Noteworthy
is many (a dozen or more?) antique and older restored beauties from
'teens, '20's, '30's, etc. Some featured in books on the subject. Close
to I-80 and worth a side trip, IMHO. Very friendly staff." - JS 9/99
"I recently bought my first Harley from Sac HD, a 2000 Sporty 883
Standard. The staff was very knowledgeable, polite and professional. I
got the bike at MSRP and they threw in 2 hours of labor to install
accessories (anytime, not just at purchase), 10% of all accessories at
time or purchase and card for 10% off future accessories (1 time deal), an
HD tee-shirt, soft hook tie-downs and a lock. I am very pleased with them
and look forward to doing business in the future." - SK 3/00
"Ordered a FXST on 6/00, that is due in the end of 3/01. Charged
MSRP plus $500 "set-up fee," also required a $500 deposit. No
nonsense pricing. Every model is priced on an 8.5X11 paper with
detail showing out the door price. Everyone has been friendly." - CR

"I had a disagreement with a service technician. He had said to me, and
my wife, treat me good, remember I have your bike in my shop. I said what!
Of course I was upset, I followed through with my part of the deal, didn't
report him, I sent an employee to deliver the product, he refused to pay,
That got resolved, he paid, then trashed my bike while in the shop. A good
thing to not piss off your cook, your mechanic, and the dealer. I reported
the incident to the dealer, he said report the guy to the police. I asked
them to keep an eye on my bike. I got it back with a LOT of damage, I
called the dealer, They said do not call here anymore." - GP 7/01
"Ordered 2002 FXSTD in August 2002 and it arrived the day they said it
would (December). They put on only the accessories I asked for and
charged me MSRP plus 500 setup fee, plus the price of the accessories I
asked for (labor covered by setup fee regardless). They even through in
some sweatshirts and stuff. Their entire staff (sales & parts) were great
in helping me decide what pipes to put on (at my request). The thing that
floored me was the honesty I experienced by all involved. I've visited
nearly all dealers in my area (Rocklin, Auburn, Folsom, Fairfield, and
Sacramento HD) before deciding to purchase at Sacramento HD. To me, MSRP
plus mandatory accessories that THEY decide on is not MSRP. Sacramento HD
has gained a customer for life." - LS 03/02
"Sac HD is the best!! I ordered a ' 02FXSTBI (nighttrain) and HD
shipped a Carb model instead. After the mistake was found, they decided to
make it right by getting me a ' 03 anniversary model, since now all the
F-I models were sold or not available on a trade with any other dealer.
They got another customer for life and I'll tell everyone the same as LS.
These people are the most honest, friendly and professional bunch you'll
ever meet. PERIOD. No pressure, just darn good advise and service." - DD

"Just purchased a FXSTDSE and paid MSRP plus 500.00 set up fee. They got
offended when I made first offer to write them a check right then for the
cost less one hundred dollars. Not very personable, they acted like they
were doing me a favor by selling me a bike. They charge 290.00 bones for
1K service. Did not offer discount for parts, service is backed up 5
weeks. (must be good) Had to ask for my 100 yr anniversary cover that
comes with bike. Disappointed in service and attitude for the dough I
dropped." - RT 06/03
"Great dealership with great attitude! Am waiting on 04 Screamin Eagle
Electra Glide (Feb.) that I got for MSRP plus 15% discount on parts,
accessories. This is the second new bike that I've bought from them at
MSRP. More importantly, when I get my bike back from service and
something is just not right, they don't argue with it. They say "just
bring it back and we'll take care of it for you". A couple times I've had
to take it back more than once, but they don't try to deny the problem
they work till they get it right. I'd recommend them to anybody." - JM

"I bought an 03 anniversary FLSTFI silver and black from Sac HD. It was
one of the best purchasing experiences I have had. The sales manager and
salesman were very up front about prices and set-up fee, MSRP + 500.00. I
had done extensive research and this was by far the best deal one could
hope to strike on a new big twin. No pressure to buy extended warranties
or extra chrome although I did purchase some options they gave me 10% off
on all parts as well as returning the oem parts without asking. Having
researched retail prices for the components prior to purchase, I was
pleased to see there was no additional markup on HD or aftermarket parts
by this dealership. They have a customer for life and I wouldn't
jeopardize a good business relationship buy trying to beat them out of a
hundred bucks." - JB 12/03 "I
do believe their bikes are sold at MSRP. I just bought an 05 Dyna for my
wife and they gave me $750.00 off MSRP. They also gave us a bunch of cool
gifts. One was a cordura carrying case with a picnic kit, a screw driver
tool, two t-shirts of our choice, 2 stainless steel coffee mugs, 2 leather
note pads, catalogs, and the bike came with an alarm system at no extra
cost." - SA 07/05 "I purchased an Electra Glide Classic in December
2006. It was on the floor, at MSRP, no added chrome. They charge $1045
for freight and set-up, a little steep. Overall, a good experience." - GP

"Is a smaller, older bldg with a small selection of used
bikes and okay prices. Staff I talked to were friendly and helpful. MSRP,
sell to out-of-area, no strings or add-ons required. On a main drag close
to SR156. Seems a nice, traditional operation." - JS 9/99 "I would like to praise Warren's H-D for making me a very
happy customer. After being screwed by Santa Cruz H-D in California, I
walked into Warren's H-D and asked them about a bike. Not telling my
terrible experienced that I just went through, the Salesman told me that he
had a cancellation. A pearl white Heritage. I jumped on it and
took the bike. This was May of 2000. Till today, I am treated as
"Family" something that is very lacking in businesses today. I walk in
there and they focus their undivided attention to each of their customers.
Let me mention, not just one salesperson, clerk, or technician, but all of
them are excellent people. I have written numerous letters to H-D
headquarters in hope that this dealership get what they deserve. "Extreme
Excellence" - JS 3/01 "I was looking for a EFI night train and had called
dealerships in the surrounding area . I was told they had one in black pearl
(exactly what I wanted) that had just come in the day before. I asked them
to hold onto it, gave them my name and number and when I didn't make it by
lunch the next day they gave me a call. I found the sales people to be
friendly, straightforward. The bike was right inline with what I wanted to
pay, unlike Gary Bang which was much closer to home. I had to go back and
pick up the bike a couple of days later and it was ready and waiting with
the store owner standing alongside it to shake my hand. I ordered a seat
while I was there and they sent it right to my door." - RB 12/04 |

"I bought a 00 sportster from them @ 2K over msrp, (found out later).
Nothing free but a t-shirt. $240+ 1000 mi. service. Wanted to charge me 1
hr labor to fix a possibly bent rear turn signal bolt, ("The warranty
doesn't cover bolts."). Tightened it for free when it wasn't bent after
all. Left a leaky OEM clamp on the smaller oil hose from the tank. When I
took it back in they told me 'that one always leaks', and offered to fix
it for 1 hr labor, "or fix it yourself", above and beyond the $240+
service fee. Second service left me with a too-tight primary, ( they
didn't even check their work), that I had to take back in, (100 mi
roundtrip), because the tech didn't check it properly. I do not let them
service the bike any longer. I use an independent I trust and Oceanside HD
for warranty work." - RC 4/00
"Really had bad experience with SD Harley, purchased in stock 02 FLSTC
and ordered SE pipes, Air cleaner and chrome front end. Was told it would
be ready to pick up on Friday (a week after signing the papers) Come
Friday had to call dealer and was told bike probably wouldn't be ready as
they had a party going that evening. Pitched a bitch and salesman said
they would get it done. Went to pick it up and none of the extra's were
installed- adn't even been ordered yet, already paid for though. Salesman
ordered extra's, parts came in a week later made appt to have parts
installed, went to pick up bike and only part of the chrome front end was
installed, and bike was sitting on showroom floor for sale again, with
someone sitting on it. Was told I could make another appointment to get
the rest installed, decided to get out of there and install rest of chrome
myself. Also took the bike in for the 1K service and got it back filthy,
cleaner used an oily rag to wipe down bike, took two hours to get all the
oil off. After spending over 34K in three years at this dealership you
would think they would care about keeping me as a customer, I guess not.
Sales and service departments will not getting another nickel from me.
Parts dept was good, but I probably won't even go back in there." - BH

"I brought my bike in to have an air cleaner kit and pipes installed.
They got the air cleaner kit on, but the pipes never came in. Huh?
Why would you start a project with out all the parts? Parts people
told me next week, well they didn't come in - at least they refunded my $
without much hassle. Picking up my bike after the 1k, the enricher
fell off when I pulled out the knob. I went back in, and the tech
never apologized, just stated that's pretty normal - they didn't cause it
to fall off. Humm, just how good do these folks check out the real
safety item? Needless to say I now go else where." - CT 12/01"
I arrived in San Diego as a dealer attending 05 new bike show first part
of July, needed some work done after riding from Michigan by way of Bend
OR. I wanted fluids and filter changed and clutch cable replaced, check an
electrical problem and oil pressure gauge. They fixed my oil pressure
problem told me that I had a purple wire shorted to ground, changed my
engine oil and filter, replaced clutch cable but failed to refill my
transmission. noticed a problem with transmission in northern Washington
state on our way home. stopped at Skagit HD in Burlington WA, had new
transmission installed there. I just received check form San Diego HD this
week for reimbursement of all my expenses." - LG 11/04

"These guys suck. We were heading back up from SF to Oregon when I spun
a starter (so I thought). It was early Saturday, but they wouldn't take
the bike in (even after explaining I couldn't afford 3 days in the city,
since that's how long it would take them to get to it). I guess it's not
their responsibility to get downed bikes on the road, but from what I hear
that's the norm for most HD shops." -MC 3/00
"I bought an FXDX from DP and had them do the 1000/2500/6000
services. I have pretty good things to say about these folks. Their
prices are on the high side, but remember that rents in SF are world
class. I doubt if they have a choice. In Sales ask for Mike - he's an
ex-mechanic turned Sales dude. Great guy with a lot of experience. Ray
is the head of Service,
also a good guy who teaches motorcycle riding courses in his spare time."
- NT 3/00
"Just bought an XLH Jan/01.Great sales guy (X MC racer), extremely
knowledgeable, very patient. We worked out a couple of possibilities, I
chose one off the floor and had them put Buckhorns on it. Got out the door
for MSRP (California MSAR) + the usual Dealer prep, Freight, CA pollution,
doc fees, tax and license etc, etc. $7514 over the curb. No other dealers
gave me the time Frank did, or had any selection in stock. In spite of the
small deal he did help me save a few bucks. Let's face it buying a Harley
isn't like buying a Ford or Chevy. All in all a good experience. I
recommend them." - BH 02/01
"Dudley's has totally lost their way. Not only have they gone
from an MSRP dealership (they mark 'em up several thou), but their sales
organization is too arrogant to so much as return phone calls, even from a
repeat customers who is a very serious buyer. Of necessity, I ended
up going elsewhere." - JF 10/01
"I bought two bikes from “Dudley’s” prior to 1990’s and paid MSRP. On
2003, I paid over $2000.00 over MSRP because of “these anniversary bikes
will go fast”. Dealer or Stealer? You decide. I did. I wonder what Sr.
and Jr. would say?" - PL 11/03 "I bought my very first bike from
these guys in early this year (2004), it was an 2003 100th Anniversary
Sportster 883C that was left over from the year before. They gave me a
pretty good deal on it, and even after paying the “Harley Tax” it came out
a lot cheaper then I had expected. Since it was my first bike I thought
it would be best for them to install the parts for I did pay for labor,
and yes it is pretty pricey but no more then what I expect at any other
dealer (car) I have had to pay. Service is GREAT, never any pressure,
great time helping me find out what fit me the best in terms of bike and
gear and the salesman was a great guy. Services was great,, and upstairs
I even got to sit down with the owner (you know who) and talked about
riding for a new rider like myself and got some great safety tips from
everyone on my way out. If I ever needed dealer only work, they would be
the dealer I would turn to." - ZS 02/04 |

SAN JOSE H-D

"earlier this year I talked to Dave Dunlap, co-owner of San Jose H-D. he
said they charge 1% above MSRP. Dave strikes as a straight, honest guy
and I plan on using his shop for service (they're closer) and add-ons. it
was a pleasure talking to him. well, they got to pay for the new digs
somehow. note their freight and setup charges are higher than Fremont's,
too." - JS 8/99
"Got my bike out of 2500 mi service last week and am forming favorable
opinion of San Jose's service department, for routine stuff anyway." JS

"I lived one mile away from SJHD/Buell, due to convenience I ended up
going there for most of my Buell service and recall needs during the first
year of ownership. My experiences were ALWAYS bad. Problems
included, but were not by any means limited to: Total lack of knowledge by
Parts and Service departments when it came to anything Buell - recalls,
parts, setup, performance, etc. Atrocious service - parts missing, nuts &
bolts left "finger tight", parts incorrectly installed, parts falling off
within 5 miles, numerous (deep) scratches to frame & PM rims, bike always
returned filthy, etc. The service staff was never helpful, never
courteous, never listened, never did a quality job, never took
responsibility, never apologized, NEVER going back! This was the worst
service I have ever experienced in my life. I will share my
experiences every chance I get, so hopefully nobody else need go through
what I did. I actually got a call from a SJHD "technician" warning
me of a problem with something rubbing my front tire as it was severely
worn on both sides. I had to laugh and tell him, "yeah... it's
called asphalt!" - BH 7/01
"Stopped by my regular shop 10/6 and talked to salesman. The dealership
now sells @ MSRP + 5% "across the board" (i.e., sporties, too) and doesn't
sell out of the area, e.g. Sacramento. A little over a year ago the sales
prices were MSRP + 1%. They had about five or six new (2002) BTs on
the floor available. Still my favorite dealership, esp. for HOG chapter &
service, which is now up to $80/hr, but the new bike price policy, which
was merely annoying, is now kinda irritating/disturbing." - JS 10/01

CAPISTRANO H-D
San Juan Capistrano, CA

"Did not purchase a bike there, but this small (but
growing) dealership is always friendly and always go out of their way for
you - I'm made to feel like a member of the family, even though I bought my
bikes elsewhere. Prices on bikes *appear* to be MSRP + small setup fee
(~$500), the parts are all MSRP in the store and service seems to be priced
at regular prices also. Getting bike first service there next week - will
report on that experience." - VW 06/04 "Been in a few times to drool
over the bikes. Sales guys (only two of them there) are very nice. Never any
pressure, always have time to shoot the s#!t. I went in a third time and the
sales guy remembered my name and my wife's name. Now that's impressive. I
decided to order my bike there. Sales guy took me to the Service dept to
introduce me to the service guys. Anytime there is any updates they call me
and let me know. It should be here in June so I'll comment on how the final
transaction goes." - MP 04/05 "Tuesday before Christmas I was ready
to buy a new Road King Custom and went over to Quaid HD in Temecula, they
asked for approx. $1500 over MSRP. I offered a little over invoice, but
they refused, so I walked. Thanks to this site I called Capistrano HD, they
had a great selection of bikes. Salesman was the best, quoted me a price on
the phone at MSRP - I got to shop and it was actually a little less, plus a
discount on parts etc. The salesman was extremely patient as I sorted
through the selection, introduced me to Service and Parts guys and had the
bike delivered on Christmas Eve. I will never buy a nickels worth of
accessories at Quaid and will travel the hour to Capistrano HD." - JC 12/05 |

"I recently purchased a 2004 FXDWGI from Biggs in San
Marcos. The salesman was great he answered all of my questions and told me
everything I needed to know. Their prices are great too. They put the
price tag right on the bike. I am very pleased with my bike and their sales
department. The service department is equally satisfying. I had new pipes
and a Screamin' Eagle stage 1 Kit added on my bike and they really made sure
I was happy with the work before sending me home with the bike. Overall my
purchase with Bigg's H-D was most enjoyable." - MS 02/04 |

McGUIRE H-D SHOP
San Ramon, CA

"Last year I had an accident shortly after I purchased my
bike. I injured my shoulder and I required medical attention (had 2
surgeries), so I was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance and I had to
leave my bike in a parking lot. My wife immediately called McGuire HD in our
city (San Ramon) and asked them if they could pick up the bike and take it
to their shop. They immediately dispatched a truck and picked up my bike.
They fixed everything, installed a couple of things I have requested (engine
guards!), delivered the bike and parked it in my garage! Imagine how I felt
when I looked at my bike and there it was, in perfect shape, all clean and
shiny, in my garage, waiting for me! The doctors told me that I would most
likely not be able to ride again. I was cruising around the block within 3
weeks after my second surgery (big time pain, but worth every second), and
have been riding ever since. McGuire helped my recovery!" - LI 06/02 |

"I just bought a '00 FXDWG from Santa Cruz H-D and paid
MSRP plus $995 for freight/setup. (Freight is listed at $205 on the H-D
website.) They also gave me 10% off the extras I purchased with the bike."
- BK 9/99
"is an older building, good-sized, classy, renovated and has good
selection of used and custom bikes. E-H dealer, too. They sell MSRP, no
add-ons or strings, and sell out of area. Some beautiful oldies worth a
side trip. Friendly staff." - JS 9/99
"I bought a 00 FLHRCI in Jan 00. I ordered it back at the end of March
99 as a 99 but was too late and had to wait for the 2000. I ordered it and
bought it at MSRP. No surprises when it came in and I had to pay for it.
10% off accessories and labor to install, at time of sale. The dealer
shipping and setup totaled $995. $230 for shipping and $765 for setup.
Great bunch of guys from the two salesmen I dealt with (Dave and Chance)
to the parts counter (Howard) and the service manager (Dennis). The girls
in the clothing dept were very helpful too. Even the general manager took
time to show me their leather care products! All employees were very
attentive before and after the sale. Nice show room as well." - SW 2/00
"I purchased my '00 Buell S3 from SCH-D/Buell. I soon returned to
get my 500 mile service done and asked that they also replace the stock
air filter with a K&N unit. A few weeks later while cleaning the
bike I notice that the stock air filter was never replaced with the K&N
filter, but I was charged for it. I called and spoke to the General
Manager and he was having difficulty believing me, so our conversation
ended without resolution. Frustrated and angry, I shared my
situation by posting it on a Website. Well, to make a long story
short... after a total goat rodeo involving a conference call with a Buell
Service Rep, an agreement to post a follow-up to the site, and an
accusation of attempted extortion by the GM, needless to say I will never
return to that dealership again. Two of my friends who purchased a
'99 X1 and a '00 Fatboy have never returned either, and for reasons of
their own!" - BH 7/01
"While it's becoming easier to be a loyal HD guy as the products seem
to continue to improve, it sure is becoming more difficult to be a loyal
HD DEALER fan as in more and more instances these dealers are using the
improving HD image to line their own pockets. HD Santa Cruz recently
cancelled their 15% discount for the local HOG chapter. (driving more
customers to the HD Road store and dealers such as Chicago HD that offer a
20% discount w. no California sales tax) Inquired about the
new Screaming Eagle Road King- MSRP $25095. Pricey, BUT from Santa Cruz HD
you can be out the door for $37000+.... This is truly a rip-off. Harley
ought to offer the Custom Vehicle Operation products through Website sales
like Ducati do. If they did, they could avoid paying the dealer
normal commission and make more money themselves, and maybe more of us
could afford to ride a new Hog." - AH 8/01

"Large inventory of bikes for sale, probably the largest
in the Los Angeles area. In addition to the bikes on the floor they may
have a large number of bikes in the upstairs mezzanine. Sells bikes for
MSRP or slightly above, and deals fairly. Large parts inventory; however,
in my experience, some of the parts guys have not been too knowledgeable,
i.e. better have your part number handy! On the other hand, they've had
parts in stock on several occasions that no o | |
