HOUSE OF HARLEY
Anchorage, AK

"Whether readers realize it or not...I believe your web page has great impact on the Harley community.  Shortly after I submitted hawgeye my report on the poor quality of service I received at the Anchorage House of Harley, the service manager wrote me a sincere apology letter and the shop enclosed a check for the total amount I had paid for services. The owner of the shop told me  he too read the comments from your web page and has made changes to prevent it from happening again.  Clearly a positive result.  Thanks for listening and keeping people honest. As the interim president of the "Blue Knights", National Law Enforcement Officers Motor Cycle Assoc. (Alaska Chapter), I would like to donate that check to your web efforts as you do a great service to us all. Thanks." - CK  5/00

"I walked into the House in January 2003, after returning from a government sponsored trip to the sand box. I ran into the owner, didn't know it at the time, and he worked with me after store hours. I took delivery of a '03 1200 Sport in March. Two months later, my wife and I purchased an '03 883 Custom. The whole experience was more than satisfying. I would recommend the House to anyone in the state." - TW 09/03

"I purchased a number of chrome goodies and parts from this dealer and always had a good positive experience with them. Once when there was a pickup problem at the parts desk they shipped my parts air freight no charge. Will continue to do business with them." - WK 12/04

"Super customer service, great service department, new bikes at just slightly over list (a steal in Alaska) HOG discount.  I bought a 96 Sporty from an individual and this shop treats me like I just bought a new Bagger from them!" - RM 1/00

"I suppose I'm not the typical new bike buyer and I rarely go to H-D dealerships. I still own a shovelhead and I (and my wife) have lately really wanted to consider a step-up. We went to the shop here in Fairbanks. It's the typical new style dealership, asking 3,000 over MSRP, may go as low as 2,000 if you work it hard. The service guy that talked with me seemed to know a thing or two. That nice feeling left when I spoke to one of the owners (who works sales).  I guess he's some kind of local high school jock hero and is a legend in his own mind. Word on the street is that he doesn't ride and thinks H-D riders are not to bright. This really came across as I spoke to him. Its all about the money, there is no commitment. I can't be the "pay 2k over MSRP" kind of guy. I wish H-D would control their dealers more. Every time I talk with dealers like this I lose any loyalty I might have to H-D. I'm loyal to my FLH after all these years, not to H-D and their low life dealers. Buy someplace else. " - DB 07/02

"I have had a good experience with the dealer in Fairbanks.  From the first day I walked into the shop, the sales people introduced themselves and were courteous.  Top that off with the fact that when I returned two weeks later they REMEMBERED MY NAME.  I don't get that from my bank, from the local supermarket or the local gas station - and they have been seeing me each week for years!  I was impressed.  Couple that with setting me up with demo rides, answering all my (dumb) questions - this will be my 10th bike, but first Harley - and most of all: After all the humming and hawing, they were able to get me the bike I wanted (2003 FXDWG, two-tone) without getting on a long waiting list for many months.  This dealership made me feel at home in their place. Is that worth a few dollars? You bet.  Do I believe that I paid too much? No way. Would I have rather paid less?  That's a stupid question - everyone would like to pay less, but I believe this dealer will be there for me after the sale.  I see how they treat people from here as well as the out-of-town riders.  Service must enter into any "bottom line" comparison.  I am looking forward to a long and happy Harley relationship with this dealer." - TC 09/02

"This dealer was more than happy to deliver my RK, the gov'n sponsored trip in 03,the bike was purchased from the exchange. The store delivered the bike and gave my 10% off all parts, I am treated with respect all the time when I stop by the store. The service manager is very knowledgeable, he always takes time to say hi. Just good old fashion sales and service, when in Fairbanks stop in, the coffee is always on and the experience from this dealer has only been matched by a dealer in the lower 48 who I have known since childhood." - CK 08/04
